Another Delay

| | Comments (6) |

The opening date for the Galen Center has been pushed back again. Originally set for mid-August, the opening date was rescheduled for Sept. 14.
But the Sept. 14 volleyball match against Pepperdine was recently switched to Malibu because the arena will not be ready. The latest guess is late September/early October. Of course, most fans only care if the Galen Center will be open for basketball season in mid-November. Kind of like most football fans don’t care about either.
UPDATE: Apparently one reason for the delay is a problem with permits.

USC has a basketball team?!?

I thought the Galen Center was where the football team played pick-up games.

Hey, easy there! 'SC basketball is great and we love the team. It's just completely overshadowed in terms of success. And the team always seems to do just good enough to keep us watching (like this last season) without delivering anything in the post season. Lately great developments seems to be followed by bad news or tragedy. With a great new coach (and person) in Tim Floyd and the on-campus arena I'll stop asking why they never hired Paul Westphal. Or will that have to wait for a Final Four appearance?

Your right Scott. Nobody gives a damn except for the 2-3,000 fans that ponied up and became Galen Founders (me included). Just compare the coverage of the new Stanford Stadium with five web-cams and weekly photo and written updates with the solitary web-cam on top of the Radisson that has showed the same picture for the last month after the roof went on. No interior shots since April? They want to sell this new venue out? Where is the marketing? Pathetic.
