Mamadou Diarra, a 6-10 center from Stoneridge Prep in Simi Valley, said he will officially commit to USC next week after talking to his coach, who is currently in France.
``I want to come (to USC),’’ Diarra said. ``They have a good coach and I want to stay in Los Angeles.’’
Diarra is ranked the 26th-best player in the nation by Rivals.com.

This is so great. I can't believe people are jumping for joy. There really seems to still be a pall, or at least a grave air over the hoops program after the tragedy involving Francis. No one wants to just start cheering for joy about recent great news. More than getting athletes signed, I think people will need to build connections with the new students playing for Floyd. Everyone seems to be watching however and I am sure that with time and maybe a little success that people will remember Francis even more, and with fondness and pride instead of reflecting on his life's tragic and untimely ending.

#26 in the country? wow, amazing that the #26 player in the country lists Baylor and USC as his interested schools (on scout, at least), and shows that not even Baylor has offered him.

At least you guys will have OJ Mayo there for a year, seems like a great fit for USC (suspended 2 or 3 times this year for various infractions)
