Congrats on the scoop.

If you get into this at all I'd love to know Kreuters coaching philosophy.

Will USC still play small ball with stolen bases (occassionally of home plate), bunting etc. or will it become another generic program?

Boy oh boy ... these guys don't waste any time do they.

It doesn't even take a day for them to figure out who our 4th baseball coach in 77 years will be.

No search. No nothing. Just a quick look into the family tree.

Does this mean that Jaime Carroll's future husband will be taking over for Pete at some point?

I would have hoped that the school had selected a proven college coach. Nevertheless, I wish Chad Kreuter luck. I believe that this move was way overdue, given the sad finish to the 06 season, after a promising conference start, winning the series with Oregon State, Stanford, and sweeping Cal. But they gave up too many mid week games which should have been won, in addition to folding weeks before the season mercifully ended.

This hire was in the works weeks ago. Friend telephoned Don Winston to complain about the baseball programs direction around three weeks prior. Told that Chad Kreuter was a very good coach for the future which became now since the terrible finish to the season prompted a change. Winston claimed most good current coaches would not come to USC because they couldn't recruit certain players for whatever that statement is worth to the situation.

First you get people complaining about not enough loyaty in the Trojan Family then other people complain there is too much.

In Miami/So Fla high schoolers, including kids who immigrate to play ball, play under local coaches with CLOSE ties to UM and FSU (yeah, sometimes too close according to the NCAA but there was only a few slaps on the wrist.) What sort of recruiting and training ties does Chad Kreuter have?

oh yeah?...well I had a friend call months before the football hiring and told Garrett to hire Pete Carroll but only after telling him he should have gotten rejected from four other coaches...
