USC is hosting guard Eniel Polynice from Sarasota, Fla., this weekend as it searches for a point guard for this season. Polynice (6-4,180) recently received a passing score on his SAT and is drawing interest from North Carolina State and Oklahoma.
UPDATE: It appears unlikely Polynice will be coming to USC, making it more plausible the Trojans will try to bring in a Croatian point guard for this season.
Polynice is actually a shooting guard but can also play the point, where USC is woefully thin following the death of Ryan Francis and needs to add someone before the season.
Polynice isn't the only guest on campus. Basketball legend Nate ``Tiny'' Archibald is helping out Coach Tim Floyd at his basketball camp.
Archibald knew Floyd from Texas-El Paso, where Archibald played and Floyd later was an assistant. He became the only player ever to lead the NBA in both scoring and assists in a season (34.0 ppg, 11.4 apg in 1972-73)and was voted one of the NBA's 50 best players of all-time in 1996.
He played for the Boston Celtics in 1981, when he won an NBA title and was named the All-Star Game MVP.
As for the camp itself, one of the top players in attendance is 6-6 Zane Johnson of Phoenix, Ariz. Johnson also visited USC last weekend.
