Rucker Show
ESPN plans to air its piece on former defensive end Frostee Rucker on Sunday at 6:30 a.m. Three alleged victims are scheduled to be interviewed. Details from ESPN below.
``Two weeks ago Rucker, a third-round draft pick from USC, was charged with battery of a woman he was dating while at USC. Reporter Steve Delsohn interviewed her and two other women who had previously accused Rucker of rape (both cases were resolved in court – Rucker was found not guilty on the first and plea bargained the second to a lesser charge). Rucker declined to be interviewed.''

If the ESPN segment is true, Rucker is pure scum.
How can USC take a chance on an athlete with this type of violent history and then not act when a USC coed complains to a USC football coach?
Who was this coach and why didn't he do something about the complaint?
Befre the ESPN report I got a lot of second hand info. Putting all of it together - the plea-bargained case, the fear of victims, the sometimes misguided nature of college students rights to privacy, the way people give "another chance"... It is all sickening.
A 14 year old attacks a girl and it all gets shushed so Frostee Rucker gets into college. As a kid at Colorado State he attacks at least one girl, and things get hidden (because of the victims fear and college policy).
When Rucker came to USC the word was he had discipline problems but no one could say exactly what they were b/c of "his rights". USC shrugged its shoulders and went with what it was told by misguided, well meaning coaches, teachers and community leaders from Rucker's high school days. (Another case of enabling.) By then Rucker had already become aware of how to work the system.
After allegedly pulling his girlfriend's hair at USC, and smashing her cell phone and blackberry, leaving a bruise on the side of her neck and head HE decided to GET A RESTRAINING ORDER and claim he was being harrassed!!! Unfortunately it was a third party that reported it to the coaches at USC, who in turn only had a "he say, (third party) she say".
Now, a year later, when Frostee has graduated to the NFL, the young lady has shared her story with the public. And her timing is questioned because she seems to be seeking damages and she waited until he was in the NFL. Meanwhile, the young lady at Colorado State, who experienced much worse (sexual) abuse tried to go public by informing the NFL and CSU, (but unfortunately not USC) so that Frostee Rucker WOULDN'T be drafted.
I'm convinced that in light of the Duke case and the Matt Sanchez case, the NFL (and colleges) are now questioning the veracity and motives of accusers. That may very well be necessary. On the other hand, each dubious report and greed driven accusation undercuts the many real victims of violence and sexual abuse. The young lady at USC who was allegedly manhandled by Frostee Rucker may be adding to this.
I know some people will think that I am blaming the victim by saying that they should come forward. Others will say I'm not giving Rucker's side of the story; and still others will say I'm blaming schools for things that they cannot know about.
My undelying point is that there are obviously cases that are falsely reported and there are cases that are underreported. There are lives, personal safety, reputations and money on the line. For every "California NOW" type of organization (capitalizing on incidents for their own advancement), there are people who look the other way or enable abusers.
There is simply nothing to do but to confront the issue head on, taking each case on its own merits. It also would help if people stopped clouding the issue with their own agendas. This is a societal problem and it has to be addressed as such.
The coaches did act on it, according to the report. Rucker, yes Rucker had already filed a restraining order and he reported that he was being stalked. All the coach had was a statement by a third party (the alleged victim did not want to pursue the matter) accusing Rucker of something that happened months earlier while Rucker offered a different version.
This isn't, seemingly, a Matt Sanchez/Duke Lacrosse situation with witnesses and evidence exhonerating previously untarnished kids. Rucker seems to have some history here. USC wasn't privy to earlier allegations since he was the main charges during his childhood were dropped, his juvenile record sealed. No one testified against him at Colorado for his alleged misdeeds. In fact everyone seemed to go to bat for Frostee.
This girl (from SC) featured in the ESPN story came out with the whole thing after Rucker left USC and was in the pros. The earlier girl who refused to testify also waited, with her lawyer writing the NFL. (NOTE HER LAWYER DIDN'T WRITE USC IN THE FOUR YEARS SINCE RUCKER LEFT AND GRADUATED.) If the charges are true Rucker is both lucky and a deviously cynical young man, who has not been protected but instead is highly manipulative.
The accusers may have had their own reasons for delaying. Unfortunately the girl featured in the Schapp piece doesn't come across as sincere; (with walks on the beach and other such trite) she and Schapp want us to believe that she waited a year because she "wants him to fulfill his dream and play in the NFL but just get the help he needs...") She is also reportedly seeking settlement money rather than having had him locked up and kicked out of school. My God, this sort of entitlement thing is hitting terrible new lows.
I'm with you Taylor...what the hell is going on over there? I think PC has been great, but man, I wish he'd kick some ass every now and then to wake up these idiot players.
But, before I get too pissed, gotta ask...is this a legit complaint? Why did she wait a full year?
And, more importantly, why didn't Mr. Wolf report this when it occurred? Maybe it wasn't legit back then and now the woman wants her 15 minutes.
Fight On!
If people would take off the USC blinders, this shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone that this would come out when you're dealing with someone like Frostee.
sounds like more he said / she said.....if you can't prove it in court, it didn't happen - period!!!!!
