Sanchez Clear

Student affairs is not going to punish USC quarterback Mark Sanchez. It's one of the few times vice president of student affairs Michael Jackson kept his nose out of athletics.

what a pleasure to see that there is someone in the system who understands the law INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY...it's about time!!!! THANK YOU MR. JACKSON...

Being falsely accused of assault is punishment enough for underage drinking. Ironically, if he wasn't at 9-0 then the time discrepancies could have allowed the false accuser to say the an incident happened when there were no witnesses to refute her story. So who's the loser?

What? Student affairs has no problem with underage drinking? Apparently the legal drinking age in California is now 18. Possessing (fabricating?) illegal documents is okay?

While there was little evidence to support the sexual assault charge, there was ample evidence that Mr. Sanchez participated in illegal activity. Apparently, Student Affairs only concern is keeping out of the student affairs of future gridiron stars.

If Pete Carrol wants to run a clean program he'll bench Mr. Sachez for a couple of games. It's the best thing he could do for his star player.

Who says there isn't special treatment for football players at USC?

Dan, maybe you should call NOW and get them to send another letter to USC.

But more seriously, why are you only complaining about Sanchez's underage drinking? What about every other student at USC who engages in the same activity? You write that Sanchez is getting off easy because he's high-profile; it seems to me you want Sanchez to be uniquely punished because he is high-profile.

I'm so tired of these sort of self righteous clowns. Show me the kid that didn't drink in college (and the vast majority of undergrads are under 21) and I'll show you one of these sad, freindless trolls always pointing a finger and wishing people ill.

You know, these are just students that happen to play sports. I watch b/c I happen to like sports and I like to see kids have some fun and developing into adults, just as I did, in the same environment. So you mean spirited jerks, stop crucifying these kids. Anyway...

The kids were not discovered doing anything as a matter of normal procedure and there was no charges (and no specific evidence besides what we have heard second hand) about the drinking and id. If USC security wants to start reviewing security tape and identifying and matching kids from 'SC that are underage drinking then fine. (Actually not.) But either way you can't single out this kid- though it seems Dan would love to. Man, what a freakin'...

The question is not whether other students drink when underaged. Of course, they do. And when they get caught (and few ever do), they get in trouble. Sanchez has a different standard applied in his case.

DAN, IN THE ABOVE COMMENT, ACCUSES USC OF "SPECIAL
TREATMENT"..NOT TRUE AS JUSTICE, WRIGHT,DENNIS AND OTHERS FOUND OUT...USC HAS BECOME A TARGET OF HATERS CAUSE OF THE GREAT SUCCESS..PLAYERS MUST BE CAUTIOUS AND CAREFUL...

Sanchez broke the law, as did Eric Wright. Sanchez chose to use (fabricate?) a false i.d. so as to engage in activity the people of California have, in their corporate wisdom, determined to be unlawful. What future ethical decisions might this promising young man make if people in authority chose to protect him from the consequences?

And, certainly Sanchez received "special treatment" from the D.A. Sanchez had to post a $200k bond in a dubious sexual assault case. About the same time a man accused of using a gun and baracading himself (and hostages?) is free on a $50k bond. Clearly, Sanchez got the kind of "special treatment" usually reserved for enemies of the state. I pray I never suffer the kind of "special treatment" Mr. Sanchez experienced.

Clearly that was politics.

What I'm talking about is upholding the law. It wasn't too many years ago that a UCLA star quarterback thought it ethical to use a handicap parking permit. How did he get the idea that the laws didn't apply to him? Could it have been the fact that he'd previously been insulated from consequences?

The issue of Mark having the fake I.D. will be handled within the program... which will be made up of cousiling and community service.

I can't believe student affairs is not going to do anything.I guess its ok to have fake ids and drink when you're not 21.If E.wright was suspended then Sanchez should be disciplined.Same situation!! No charges filed in both cases . Student affairs conducts their investigation on PD reports and you're telling me you can suspend a kid for 3 years and do nothing to Sanchez for having a fake ID .I guess only the black athletes are guilty.
