And Speaking Of The Pac-10

| | Comments (12) |

The conference is not just establishing cheerleading guidelines. Its annual media day will be held Thursday, with the release of its Pac-10 poll. It will be interesting to see if the media still makes USC the favorite or goes for Cal or maybe a darkhorse (Oregon, Arizona State, Arizona State).
Otherwise there will be the usual meaningless quotes from the coaches and I will tell Oregon coach Mike Bellotti my annual Rick Neuheisel joke.
Feel free to make your own preseason predictions.

USC will be the favorite by a wider margin than might be expected; Cal, Oregon and ASU round out the top four.

Dark horse status goes to Arizona, though Stanford and WSU are far more likely to actually go bowling.

Karl Dorrell, Ty Willingham and Bill Doba will be peppered with questions about their long-term job status.

And I will be looking good in my linen suit.

Ok, since you asked: My Pac-10 predicitions:

1. USC (I admit more out of loyalty than true coviction, but, you gotta pull for your boyz...)
2. Cal (no hype, they are that good -- Tedford is the reason more than any one player)
3. Arizona (Stoops will hit paydirt in year 3)
4. Oregon (Always consistantly in the hunt)
5. Arizona State (Every year, a trendy pick in this conference)
6. Washington State (I think Boba will wind up being more consistent than Price in the long run)
7. UCLA (Last year's success was a bit misleading; too many key players gone now)
8. Washington (They just flat out need players)
9. Oregon State (Bottom is falling out of this program)
10. Stanford (I don't buy into the talk of resurgence.)

I would pick Arizona as my "sleeper" pick.

As far as SC is concerned, they will need to have the defense carry the team in the first half of the season to allow the new offense to get their sea legs. Don't kid yourselves, folks, no matter how many blue-chippers are on the roster, there's a lot of production that walked out the door this year in the form of three players. My biggest early season worry is the at Arizona game. Could be the "ambush in the Desert" scenario. I hope not, but, circle that date, ladies and gents. It will be a HUGE game. An early "statement" game.

Then again, odds are, I could be so wrong! But, hey, it's fun for 90 seconds. :)

USC will go 9-3, but will win the Pac-10, and win the Rose Bowl.

The loses:

Arky or Neb
UCLA or ND
some Pac-10 team

This years team is less talented than last years team, which did lose a game and almost a second. To think this years team will do better than 12-1 is idiotic.

Final Pac-10 Standings

USC
Cal
ASU
Ore
Az
UCLA
OSU
UW
WSU
Stan

I predict that UCLA's CareBear mascots will come out of the closet, wearing rainbow speedos during games. Also I predict that Oregon will create a new uniform that is all green plaid with duck droppings on there helmets. I predict that the strung out stanford tree will
enter rehab after asking fans for another "hit"and offering some bark for crack. I predict that Cals staduim will split in to, after a earthquake hits only Berkley, forcing the bears to create there own fight song.

Screw the washington schools I got nothing on them.
Man it's hot today. But the AZ teams should be
right at home with this heat melting both defensive playbooks and any running backs.

USC will rule again even with a short guy wearing a skirt on a horse. I love em.

Don't really care about all the prognasticators talking about the losses SC suffered to the NFL. I have been following SC football since 1970 and pound for pound this IS the most talent laden team I have seen since the 72 National Championship team. Remember folks, Reggie and Lendale were not even the listed starters the first years the played and starting setting the scene on fire.Chauncy was declared the "best of the lot" by PC before he got injured. Then again the following year before he got disqualified....now he is back with a vengeance and looking to show the world what he can do. AND when is the last time we had a stable of backs the likes of, Desmond, Michael C, Ryan P, Kenny A, CJ, Staphon, Emmanuel!!??, ..,,,,,,,,and as for QB, Booty, I see something in him just like I saw something in Carson even when people were booing him at home games.....who remembers that ??I must confess (and most of you should too) that Matt came up as sort of a consolation prize, because PC said he was in a tie with Matt Cassel, (now with the NE Pats)........I had my doubts about him then. Matt L was NOT a clear cut fav of PC when he started. Look how he turned out. But, PC is really high on JD and Mark S. He wasnt like that when Matt started... Also, I really think our O line is bigger, stronger, and faster than last years (and yes younger ) but they sure are talented top to bottom , there is no "filler" in that group just to complete the line.....Defense ? Wow, they may be better as a group than the 04 group and definetely better than the 05 group. Remember, last season we played with ALOT of reserves due to injuries , we were never at full strength, ever.......These Trojans may surprise alot of naysayers this season..as for me I feel good about this crop.......only time will tell huh? Ok off my soapbox here I go:

1. SC
2. ASU
3. Republic of Cal
4. U of A
5. U.g.l.y
6. Oregon Nikes
7 WSU
8. OSU
9. The Farm
10. U W

Scott is known as the "scourge of the Internet message boards," according to radio host Petros Papadakis. Despite this moniker, there's no truth to the rumor he takes pleasure in antagonizing the "Internet geeks."
