Bring It On

Freshman quarterback Mark Sanchez can't wait for a chance to play in the season-opener against Arkansas for more than one reason.
Sanchez thinks road games will be more interesting if he is the target of abuse from fans eager to taunt him following his off-season drama. But instead of dreading it, Sanchez looks forward to it and believes it will make him play even better.

The question is, will he be playing? I thought JD was locked in to start?

I'll go out on a limb and predict that Sanchy plays at Arkansas. I predict Booty will come out hot (he's from the south) while hailing spirals to an unstoppable-don't-even-try-to-guard me Jarrett, then Turner, Davis, Smith, Hazelton, thank u Lord. The defense will be the best in years, maybe ever in PC era. If Arkansas gives up a 3 touchdown lead, forget it. The 'SC backfield will open up with screens and options. The hogs' heads will be spinnin' from all that speed goin by. Pass the barbeque sauce, Bobby Duechet, it'll be a barrel-sized can of whupp-ass. I predict a final score of 37-7. Nebraska will next become Children of the Corn.

We'll be eating Corky's Ribs, FedEx in from Memphis Tenn, watching that 37-7 game!

I mean Sanchie will play after Booty starts and blows the game wide open. Any word on Chauncey Washington? Hazelton? Reed?

TROJ HAVE AMAZING TALENT AND SPEED BUT WILL OPEN WITH A ARK TEAM THAT HAS 19 STARTERS RETURN AND THE #1 RUN OFF IN THE SEC....BOOTY MUST PROVE HIMSELF AGAINST AN EXPERIENCED DEFENSE OR SANCHEZ WILL BE IN THE GAME...USC MUST GIVE THIS GAME TOTAL FOCUS OR THEY CD BE SURPRIZED?

What a weird post.

david that hadly sounds like you.....glad to see you finally got you mind right....welcome back....!!

Gillyking said:

roc, I can appreciate your apprehension, especially since it's a roady...and even with all the changes to the Trojan roster, do you honestly think that the Hogs will be able to overturn that six touchdown difference? Probably not

Gillyking said:

roc, excuse me, that 8 touchdown differencial.

Thanks to my fans for finally seeing the true side of me (LOL). I have to confess Wolfie & I sometimes push buttons just to get a post ignited. Always know I love the brothers & fans of 'SC FOREVER... now pass that beer over here will ya?

marlon said:

Arkanas sucks. they have no quarterback, two running backs that got shut down by last years weak defense. And a tall receiver that runs like a drunken, retarted donkey. Arkansas will be hyped up during the pregame speech but once the game starts, there true colors will show. I look forward to being in that SEC venue with all the cousinsfans talking smack with three teeth and there soda water.

Anyway does anyone know what hell is up with Desmond Reed? I figure he would be in the running back mix.

Has anyone played NCAA on 360? any thoughts...

I REALLY APPRECIATE THE "PROFOUND CONFIDENCE" OF THE ABOVE FANS IN THE "NEW USC TEAM"... I AM AN OLD USC FAN WHO HAS SEEN "LOCK" GAMES SOMEHOW TURN INTO DEFEATS...(I ALSO THINK USC WILL WIN) BUT SUGGEST YOU ALL RESEARCH THE HOGS AND UNDERSTAND WHO THE TROJANS ARE PLAYING?

s said:

what an interesting post DAVID...you and wolfe pushing the button.....!!! does wolfie have any other alter egoes in the system ????????? miguelito??

Gillyking said:

Marlon, according to the depth charts displayed at wearesc.com, Desmond Reed and Herschel Dennis are both officially listed as
"players with injury issues". This was as of @ June 1,2006. There are pictures out there (also on that website) that show him participating in recent drills but nothing to my knowledge has been officially released as to his very current status.
I hope that helps.

DAVID said:

This is to certify that Wolfie and David are not the same person. He gets paid to be contraversial, I do it for free. Just to watch the freshmen get angry.

Roc...I did....and like i said, USC is not going to be 8 touchdowns p/gm worse than last season regardless of the competition. I almost believe that based on coaching and talent comparisons... they could bench every starter and still win this roady in hot and humid and hostile Ark.

Thanks for the update on desmond!

As for the ROC AKA OLD FAN who wants us to review the arkansas team. I have and they still suck.

I will go on the road to see this victory with my own eyes. the Razorbacks are projected to finish 4th out of six teams in SEC in most publications.

There defense is still weak according to the athlon, Sporting News and Streets. Also they get there plays
sent in from the sidelines like there a damn pop warner team. The only thing Im concerned with is Darren Mcfadden returning kicks. That is there only weapon besides the fullback. Our Defense should have a field day stopping the run on paper.

OLD FAN another thing that you should provide you with a since of relief is our recent record against nonconference opp. during the first game of the season. I remember when we were dogs against Penn State in the Pig Skin Classic but still who that game.( ok I haven't seen that stat but I remember last year it being mention. Do some homework on that one)
Have faith in us. ROC I can admit that this year I do think we will loose one. It's gonna happen with new talent. But more then likely it is not happening the first game of the year. It is more then likely going to come at the hands of an experienced quarterback.

Feel free to respond, I'm in the Bay area surrounded by baseball fans that suck. I enjoy this outlet to talk about the only football team that matters in California.

FIGHT ON

good post marlon... let's not forget a few yrs ago when 'SC went into Auburn, which had a Cadillac in the backfield, a good QB and still got beat 23-0. Arkansas will be a crispy, well-cooked hog for our linebackers to devour. We're hungry...

THANKS FOR ALL THE OPPOSITION TO MY TAKE ON "TROY BEWARE," AGAINST THE HOGS....I FOLLOW THE TROJANS EVERYDAY OF SUMMER AND AM VERY PLEASED WITH OUR GREAT SPEED AND STRONG ATTITUDE...MY CONCERN WAS
"FOOLISH" IN THAT I NOW AGREE WITH ALL MY FELLOWS THAT TROY SHOULD WIN BY SAY, 48-0-- HUMIDITY, NEW QB, RB NO PROBLEM-- ARK SHD NOT SHOW UP--JUST CONSIDER THE "WIPE OUT" IS ALREADY DONE AND RESEARCH IS A WASTE OF TIME.....

Bob said:

In my research of the Hogs, I found out that USC has very good offensive coaches. The Trojans beat Arkansas by 53 points, while Vanderbilt, Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, South Carolina, and LSU, their other losses in '05, beat them by a combined total of 41 points. And they have a incredible number of starters back, and are at home, with a hostile crowd vs. a new quarterback. USC should win, but it will be a tough one, with the payback factor involved, also.

I'm an SC fan but if you really believe this statement, you are not very bright.

Well raymond, in 38 days you will see. If the Trojans keep McFadden under control, it'll be "game over"! and yes another edition of USC sticking it to the mighty SEC.

Hey Raymond,

I'm not saying that USC won't win or anything like that. In fact, it is even possible that USC will win big just like last year. However, my point is that it is ridiculous to think that USC can win without its starters. And we wouldn't find out in 38 days as you said because there is no way all the starters would not play.

Fight on!

Notice no one even thought about the incident. The situation was one of those where once everything was in the open he came out spanking clean. No charges, and we even found out that he helps strangers with car problems just cuz. And the guy looks the part- the closest thing to sculpture of an ancient Olympian. Or maybe Tommy Trojan!

About Inside USC

Scott Wolf has covered USC for the Daily News since 1996. A USC graduate, he covered his first Trojan game in 1984 for the Daily Trojan. Scott is known as the "scourge of the Internet message boards," according to radio host Petros Papadakis. Despite this moniker, there's no truth to the rumor he takes pleasure in antagonizing the "Internet geeks."
