Don't Copy Me
Whenever USC coach Pete Carroll was asked about this year's Pac-10 race, whether by the media or at Trojan clubs, he usually failed to mention UCLA. But when an athletic dept. employee deliberately omitted the Bruins during a conversation about this season, Carroll quickly rebuked them about overlooking the crosstown rivals.

I don't think UCLA is much a threat to USC these days. Their coaching is even much worse! So why even talk about them? :-)
However, Cal, Oregon, and ASU could all be close games. All have good coaching staffs.
The ND game in Nov could decide which team makes it to Arizona to play for the crystal, and will probably be the game that gives USC the biggest challenge. Weis is as good as PC if not better. ND cought onto the "hiring of" NFL coaches, and their program has also been lifted up as much or more than USC's was with PC.
Kind of makes you wounder if there are other coaches in the NFL who could come to supplement or even replace PC in the future if need be?
:-)
Fight On!
Is there any useful information in this blog entry?
Obviously UCLA isn't on Pete Carroll's real list of worries and concerns but when it occurred to him as a listener that you want to SEEM like you actually see this team as a real challenge. Good to see that he's getting into the spirit of things. Or, gasp, maybe Coach Carroll feels that UCLA is actually going to field a competitive team that is worthy of mention. Of course it couldn't be that.
Move on Scott, that was boring...and petty
Wolfie...not to change the subject but Matt Leinart was on 710 ESPN radio this morning with Colin Cowheard and Matt predicted a National Championship for the Trojans this year! And he wasn't kidding. He said the defense is the best he's ever seen, the receivers are the best in the country, and JDB will definitely be the starter and he's one of the top in the country.
With Nebraska, CAL and ND all home games he doesn't see any losses this year.
Pom-Pom knows his butt-kicking is on the horizon and he is buttering up the sc faithful so they don't have heart attacks once we defeat the pillow-biters of troy. That way he can justify the loss by saying he knew UCLA was going to be good, I would half expect him to take the credit for UCLA's victory over sc by saying he taught Dewayne Walker how to coach. He is a manipulator and you idiots are putty in his hands. A couple of mediocre seasons and you guys will be calling for his head. He will probably get the news that he's been fired via voicemail like Mr. Hackett did. No class & win at all costs=Trojicane fan. "Boys will be boys"-pom pom pete
MBK (which means My Butt's Kicked), you toothless, tofu-eating, blue dress wearing, talking-to-himself-at-the-bus-stop-while-holding-a-beer loser. You wish ucla could win champioships, but instead u have tantrums on an 'SC blog...May a constipated Trojan find relief in your Sponge Bob lunchbox.
MBK , hello? anybody there? (echo) Ucla butt kicking SC? turn off your VCR dude this is 2006 not 1986...........he is a manipulator?? huh? well yeah, he manipulated the Trojans back to top 10 status, brought in 2 Championships, 2 Heismans, a slew of all americans and #1 recruiting classes past few years.......I'll admit it he had me fooled !! could have sworn he was good coach.wow what a fool I've been,,,,Wake up !!! Ucla is a softball school, er Gymnastics er, well they have nice colors uh never mind.
Hey David,
which athletic department has more National Championships? USC or UCLA? Now tell me which school has been around longer? I will save you the research, UCLA has the most national championships in the country and SC has been around longer. So not only are we superior in athletics & education but it took us less time to dominate. SPIN ON!!!
LOL, David's should really stand as the last word, but it's too classic not to acknowledge. Nice rant.
Hey MBK,
Sorry to tell you, but last year was a mediocre season.
MBK,
USC has more National Championships overall.
ucla has to put qualifiers on their stats: they have the most NCAA team national championships. This of course does not count Football NC's, nor does it take into account that ucla fields teams in many sports that USC does not.
MBK,
ASU has the most National Championships in the nation. Like 130. But most are from archery which isn't an NCAA Sport. So Ucla has more NCAA National Championships but ASU and USC have more overall National Championships. You just lost that argument.
Besides many of Ucla NCAA titles are in lame women's sports.
UCLA has 120 national championships. USC has 106. Those numbers include football titles.
MBK,
haha....you got served!
"He is also perfectly suited because the Notre Dame band sits in the end zone at Notre Dame Stadium, so he won't need to go through any adjustments." I don't get it????
