It Could Have Been Worse
ESPN's piece on Frostee Rucker hardly cast the former USC defensive end in a positive light. But Rucker was originally only one small part of the story as the network spent several months investigating the entire football program, including Reggie Bush, Matt Leinart, etc.
If nothing else materializes besides the Rucker piece, which came partly because producers developed a close relationship with alleged victim, Joelle Barchan, USC can probably consider itself fortunate.

Being in LA, being the emost dominant team in CFB, Having a sterling reputation as an institution both academically and athletically...
There IS a bad side. ESPN better suck ND fans harder b/c they have lost the tens of millions of USC fans. FOX SPORTS BABY!!!
Scott, have you heard any rumors of any of the other potential pieces airing?
Since the East Coast News doesn't give any slack to USC (or to the Pac-10) its doesn't surprise me.
That's why I've always believed the Pac-10 should leave the BCS, and take the Rose Bowl with them. Then invite some lucky team to play the Pac-10 champ on Jan 1st every year. I could easily live without the BCS and all of the East Coast bias that drives the computer polls.
That being said, the USC plays have to remember that they are living in a "fish bowl" with everyone quick to catch anything that they do wrong. Its great to play so many games on TV every year, but that is the price you pay.
Fight On!
Fingers.....dutch boy.....dyke.......
Dam is about to burst.....

Contact ESPN and tell them 1. That their coverage is obviously and blatantly biased against USC; 2.That you are put off by the sensationalism, muckracking, one-sided, anti-USC coverage; 3.You will no longer watch ESPN for any of your sports coverage.
Remember, each letter is understood, correctly, to be indicative of the sentiments of thousands of fans! Fight On!
I keep hearing how negative this piece was. thats too bad. We will still win the Pac 10 with our second team players.
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!
this was interesting i must say. but yeah its the media and especially espn. like USC more while we are in vogue, but come hard when something comes out negative. I htink there may be a bit of the bisa involved that you know every school has this shit with their players when they are on top or falling off, but all you get from ESPN is he had a gun on him, we get a whole exposee' (i dont know how to do accent marks). THat and i bet they were like damn we air this we fuck up a relationship with those two highly marketable individuals.
ESPN kissed USC's butt all last season. So much for EAst Coast bias. I never heard any SC fans complain about that attention. NOw ESPN comes out with one piece that is critical of SC and you guys go balistic. One comment said EXPN has lost tens of millions of dollars over this one report. You have got to be joking. They aren't losing anything over this. And they aren't sweating either. What are you going to do, stop logging on to their site? It won't even dent their numbers. You can't organize enough people to participate in any action that will matter. And you will all be watching SportsCenter and loggin on a few weeks from now after it all blows over. Wake up.
marlonmj,,
Another idiot post: "We will still win the Pac 10 with our second team players."
Common marlonmj, if that is your real name, stop being so arrogant and ignorant. Don't tell me you really believe your nonsense. I think USC will win the PAC 10 but not so easy as you make it seem. On behalf of everyone on this board, we recommend you stop embarassing yourself and don't make any more posts. Thanks!
If nothing else materializes besides the Rucker piece, which came partly because producers developed a close relationship with alleged victim, Joelle Barchan, USC can probably consider itself VINDICATED.
We've had our share of problems, we'll all agree to that. And while some of them are minor, most of them are (e.g., Jarrett).
And, it's journalist's right (and duty) to report these things and shed light on them.
So, what to make of the Ramonce Taylor situation at Texas. How can someone with 3lbs of marijuana on his person not have anything more than a blurb? Shouldn't this guy be in jail?
Interesting.
Fight On!
Another day, another dumb post by Marlonmi.
When you recruit 5 star...there is a price (Cash). If OJ Mayo is interested....there is obviously word on the street that there is CASH....You can only hide cash for so long.
ESPN, LA TIMES and even SW and DN got scooped on the Bush Family....or did they look the other way.....
I guess ESPN doesn't want to get scooped anymore.
And by Scott's comment in reference to the Rucker piece....(it could have been worse) leads me to believe that he is being realistic about the gathering storm.....
What an effing know nothing, insinuating w/o rhyme or reason pr*ck you are noyledave. A loser, supporter of losers AND a jealous pr*ck all in one. Quite an accomplishment. Scott Wolf, not exactly the king of understatement or straight-forwardness made it clear, even by ordinary standards, that USC was fortunate that this was all the dirt anyone could pull up, i.e., allegations made about someone who had already left USC.
Did it occur to you that USC is a top academic school, a top athletic school, in the second largest media market and the center of the media universe? That by itself would sell any athlete.
And NO ONE made the allegation that anyone took anything to come to 'SC.
There was an allegation, unsubstantiated still, that Bush's father was late with his rent up and someone let it slide so he could get in Reggie's good graces to do business AFTER he left college. Reggie REFUSED to do business with the guy!
I'm sure you knew this already but you're just being the knob that you are.
No insinuation. Ask ESPN producers (as SW is alluding to) all that they are working on but have YET to run....drip...drip...drip...
Late with his rent? A year and a half with no eviction? Stepdad was for sale...and so was Reggie while working his way towards a Heisman.
Dude...it must be hard to breathe with your ostrich like head in the sand.....it's a duck and it's quacking.
