Now He's A Tailback

| | Comments (7) |

Valencia High’s Shane Vereen was being recruited as a cornerback but now he wants to play tailback, which is fine with USC and UCLA. Sources said Pete Carroll’s even made references to a ``Reggie Bush role’’ for Vereen if he attended USC.
The latest is Vereen wants to stay local and play for USC or UCLA.

"A Reggie Bush role"?? Dorrell will just counter that Vareen could be the next Gaston Green! And who wouldn't want that?

Well, first Dorrell will have to tell Vareen who Gaston Green is...for all the kid knows, Gaston Green's highlights are in black and white...

I think Reggie Bush resonates with high school kids just a bit more than Gaston Green, for crying out loud.

I think getting Vereen could prove to be redundant if we end up landing Joe McKnight. Now THAT would be a coup. Doesn't seem as far-fetched as you might think, however.

That's interesting Jonathan. I thought Vereen was faster but doesn't McKnight have a couple of inches and 20 lbs. on him? And I heard that at the end of track season McKnight dropped from a 10.8 to an unofficial 10.4 (just barely wind aided)in one season. Rounding out, they are just as fast as each other. I just can't see McKnight getting away from LSU to USC when he may be the fastest high schooler (faster than Carter) that Louisiana has produced. Vereen better hit the track and weight room before he gets so full of himself.

What about a Reggie Bush/LenDale White kind of role?
