Ready To Sign
We've mentioned countless times how Matt Leinart
and Reggie Bush either decline to sign autographs or had their minders
make it clear to gathering crowds they were off limits. Now it becomes clear what their end game was regarding that: They were protecting the value of their signatures. http://www.tristarproductions.com/National/pavilion.htm
Judging by the prices these two guys are charging visitors to the
National Sports Card Convention in Anaheim today, Leinart and Bush
should already be enshrined in Canton.

Wow. What a way to make a buck. You'd think these two were being paid an NFL minimum salary and didn't get spiffy contracts from various apparel companies....why would anyone PAY for a signature that will probably be worth very little when all is said and done? I am a die-hard Trojan fan and this is a little embarrasing.
all things come to a man who waits......!!!
Why be enshrined in Canton when they are already enshrined as Heisman winners? Plus, Heisman winners are in a much more exclusive fraternity.
I know it seems excessive to charge for an autograph and for an actual fan this is true. But we were at Disney World two years ago during the College Football Awards before Matt went to NY to get his Heisman. The players were going to be signing autographs at the ESPN Club. I went over to get my son's cap signed and the line was HUGE. When I looked at who was in line I saw a couple fathers and sons but very few true "fans". The rest were guys with huge bags full of mini helmets and other stuff to sign. All of which ended up on Ebay the next day I'm sure. So why shouldn't the players be part of the enterprise?
I went to the site, couldn't believe the company Bush & Leinert are in; Marcus Allen, Joe Montana, Jerry Rice, Barry Sanders, Aikman, Magic, Moon, Butkus... why turn down the ability to make $100 in 30 seconds? that's $200 a minute, and $12,000 per hour. if that could put your sister's kid thru college, it's worth it. make $36,000 in 3 hours? yes, so you could buy your beloved mother a house. buy dad a Cadillac... would you turn that down because your'e worried what other people think?
Do you know how much they were hounded during their last two years of college? They had to stop signing for everyone because it was just getting so overwhelming. ML had to move. I got ML to sign something for and with my nephew and he could not have been nicer.
I took my grandson down to SC from Fresno to see the football team practice last fall. We had no intend on getting autographs, but there was a large crowd of autograph seekers who were more then the casual person, such as ourselves, intent on getting specific items signed by the two. I thought that I would soon see these items on Ebay, no doubt. We decided to get a jersey signed and were brushed aside until Brandon Hancock came by (Fresno's own) and he gladly signed our jersey. GO BRANDON
Don't even take a picture of me. These guys had unprecedented success, two championships, two Heisman winners, AND they play in LA. I am willing to bet that it is impossible for either to walk around the block these days w/o all the the hub bub. Let's face it, it's a great investment, "sign this" (for free) and I'll sell it some day. I personally have several items with their signatures and I'll sure cash in on one or two. They've signed for my two nephews and my niece at least once.
What's crazy is my niece and nephews couldn't get a signature from the likes of Andy Roddick, LeBron James (as a high schooler at b-ball camps) or Carmelo Anthony (in college) to save their lives.
Matt and Reggie will be in the college football hall of fame if they both stopped playing football today. Yet I have seen them personally indulge to the point that I know they were annoyed but polite. I'm just a little ashamed that I was part of it. But I'm sure it'll be worth it! (greedy laugh)
PS- Scott, you're coming across bad buddy. maybe that's why this blog gets so few comments compared to some other local newspaper CF team blogs.
Dave Frost is "VIP Packages Only".
Uh. Yeah.
I've never undesrtood the concept of paying for somebody's signature. But, there are people who do. All I know is that I can either buy groceries this week for $100 or buy a photo with a signature of a guy I'll meet once for 30 seconds. Sure, in 20 years, maybe that guy's signed photo will be worth $500. But, unfortunately, it won't feed me this week...
Hey, more power to you if you can get away with.
Hey guys...both Matt and Reggie came to Corona, CA a few months ago...had lunch at a local restaurant...and signed autographs for free for hours. I know they have both done things to cast a shadow on the program...but they are still family!
Scott, it must really burn you to know that many people ARE willing to pay those "hall of fame" prices to get Matt's and Reggie's signature.
So bitter, so bitter...
Before you completely crucify these guys, don't forget there is a promoter involved, and perhaps even another middleman. Safe to assume actual cash being made by Matt and Reggie is less than half the public price. Agreed, that is still plenty. However, don't we live in a capitalist society where the name of the game is to make as much money as you can?
it must burn all of you how bitter all of you are about Scott and the blog...
Wolfie, you forgot to mention the stories about how Bush didn't even want to sign an autograph for Gary P. and Johh Jackson
LOL! It was mentioned on Petros' Show today.
