USC Or Howard
Before O.J. Mayo decided the air got let out of his balloon and delayed his not-so-secret announcement to commit to USC, the nation's No. 1-ranked recruit told friends he would either attend USC or an African-American university.
In the mid-1980's, tailback Russell White said he might attend Bethune-Cookman but of course, ended up at Cal.

Okay, so would you call your original post a case of premature o.j.elation?
Scott
Is there any word on Desmond Reed status for this season?
This O.J. might not be a good fit at USC. If he's only in for one year, the University should consider taking a pass -- It's not the way to build a strong program. And besides, nobody knows what this kid expects as special treatment. Will he attend class? Pass the mayo, please.
F.O...............
Troy, you don't think Carmelo Anthony had an impact on Syracuse's recruiting? OJ is a higher touted recruit than Carmelo. Every year the top HS players will have the mentality of going to college for a year and bouncing to the NBA. Unless you believe SC can win a NC without a top player, we're going to have to play the "one-and-done" game.
Don't pass the mayo he is already bring people with him to SC and with Davon with Mayo and the other players SC just won't be a football school no more..... Let's go MAYO
FYI:Russel White graduated in 1989, not the mid 80's.
White made his comment in 1986.
let me remind everyone of one thing....we are talking about USC basketball in the middle of summer. If the kid doesnt know the difference between howard and being a trojan then we do not need him. Howard is a great black college for pre-med and law. USC is a damn good school for any body willing to accept the challenge. I think the last sc player to even do anything in the NBA was Harold Miner who now works at the fox hills mall selling cell phones.
Ok maybe we do need Mayo after all....
I guess nobody knows whats up with Desmond Reed the only proven back on our roster with proven big
game experience. get well soon we will need you.
