Live From Salute To Troy

| | Comments (17) |

Quarterback John David Booty was a hit at the Salute to Troy football kickoff barbecue Friday night, because he signed autographs for the fans. Last year, quarterback Matt Leinart declined to sign.
``I look forward to it,'' Booty said. ``I'm going to enjoy it.''

Scott,

Can you remind us again tomorrow that Leinert did not sign autographs last year? I'm afraid I might forget. Thanks.

I hope he does remind us tomorrow...you can dislike Scott all you want, but at least John David and Mark sign autographs.....

Scott great job with the scrimmage breakdown, sounds like the passing game is being victimized by great defense. I think against the hogs Booty will make his mark.

matt signed autographs before he won the heisman =)

SCBert, with all due respect as a fellow Trojan fan, if you don't like the way Scott reports then stop reading this blog.

Obviously you come here because you think he provides good information. He's nice enough to post this blog for us pro bono, let's show some gratitude.

IN PETE WE TRUST!!!

if either of them win the heisman than you can compare them to matt, until then their autograph is not worth anything outside trojan fans

SCbert and other like that can go back to the Scout and Rivals homer sites where everyone still has their head stuck up Leinarts yoo know what.

This autograph thing has reached ridiculous proportions. I was at last year's Salute and consider it a good thing that Matt (and Reggie) didn't sign autographs that night. The Matt/Reggie hysteria was so charged by then that it would have caused a major mob scene.

It never gets a mention that at the last spring's Huddle Matt stood for a couple of hours and posed for pictures for nearly everyone who stayed after the game...

John David Booty is a man of character who comes from a good family. As we learned, Matt Leinart is not.

I have never seen one man so bitter at one kid in my life. Let it go Scott, move on to this year.

For what its worth, Marcus Allen was there and was only signing for "select" people.

Sign or don't sign autographs. Who care's! Leinert was 37-2. Booty and Sanchez are 0-0.

In all due respect to Matt Leinart he had won the Heisman the year before. I'm sure right after that he had professional autograph seekers selling his signature on items for big bucks.

Is Booty a Red Shirt Junior? Well if he were to somehow win the Heisman this season. I would bet he will have second thoughts about signing autographs at next years Salute To Troy.

I appreciate Wolf's blog in that I can get updates without going to the football "boards," which I never visit and cannot stomach.

But as for the autograph thing, I don't think the players should have to sign them at all. It takes an opportunity for some casual interaction between fans and players, which both might actually enjoy, and turns it into a mob scene that is undignified for everybody. I don't think the players should have to be subjected to that. I think the players should be prepared to shake a lot of hands and be pleasant.

Remember, the novelty of the blog is that the news is supposed to be extremely up to date.

Matt didn't sign autographs last year and you thought that was bad form. Got it. Now let's get back to actual news.

USC_89 is well on his way to be Scott, part 2. Why do I say that? Because no matter how many people hates and disses him, he still comes back for more.
