More On Wilson

| | Comments (23) |

Why is offensive guard James Wilson an important commitment? He's considered more of a finished product than the Trojans' other line commitment, offensive tackle Martin Coleman of Edison High, because Wilson has more experience.
That means he may not require a redshirt year like most linemen.
It also wasn't that shocking Wilson will travel across the country, because his father lives in California. That said, USC is aggressively recruiting in Florida and could get additional commitments from the Sunshine State.

What about Brandon Ting testing positive for steroids?

Is there anyway we can maybe get a more positive headline on the USC page than "Francis killed in Baton Rouge"? First of all, killed is not a soft way of getting that point across and second it's been up there for months. I think we all know by now. This paper just likes to anger their USC readers.

University of Steroids and Criminals is at it again. Your guys were juiced in the rose bowl and we still kicked your butt....hook em horns!! I can't believe you guys, every couple weeks a new scandal comes out, can you say lack of institutional control? Peter the cheater is going to leave you guys on probation.....cheat on!!

Miguelito, my man, you're back! It was getting boring on this blog. How's the window washing business?

so Mom let you come out and play again??
just shut up already ....go find a Texas blog somewhere and go away. You are simply annoying now. Lets see how UT does now that Vinnie is gone and Ramonce("three-pound" to his friends) is transferring. I say # 10 and MAYBE a bowl game. SC will keep on rolling while Texas starts reeling.,..Whos the QB there now ? Colt McGraw??Mr. Snead?? whatever, put a fork in them .They are done!! Texas BBQ style no doubt

That closet Bruin disguised as a Texas fan, Miguelito, is at it again. Miguelito -- you're sad in how you exist just to live off the negative. Own up your true allegiance, and then we can say our cheaters will beat your cheaters again for the 8th straight year.

Unfortunately, tho, our university is giving guys like him fresh meat for the feast. Does Pete coach with blinders on? Just X's and O's, baby, and who cares what happens outside the lines? Is the pressure at D-1 to win that much that it's "the end justifies the means" philosophy that is the norm? I guess so. Silly me, I was a little more idealistic than that. But then, I was buying SC tix in the Hackett era, too, so it's not like I'm a wins/losses bandwagoner.

Sad day. As time passes, we are starting to see the dark side of college football and how it doesn't even escape programs like SC... heck, it thrives in big-time programs like SC. Look at Ohio State and Miami... We're no better.

miguelito said:

Seriously though, what do you guys have to say about being flagerent cheaters? I shouldve known you losers were juicing. The funny thing is, after all the criminal charges, juicing, and raping/women beating, the clowns of troy only have one title. After all that? Come on now, you guys arent even good cheaters. At least programs like Nebraska and Miami win more than one at a time. The trOJan SCUM need to get there act together. Any one else feel an NCAA death penalty coming? Before you know it, we'll be talking about USC the same way we talk about SMU. JUICEON!!!!!

My apologies for letting my 11 year old son post here. He suffers from severe hallucinations. He's a diehard Bruin fan who has never gotten to see UCLA beat USC and is demonized by their failures. He knows that USC will be kicking UCLA's butt for years to come.

Eddie said:

Dude it was only Brandon Ting caught juicing. Brandon Ting! He probably needed it to add some bulk, just so he can be as big as Desmond Reed. So, chill out on the accusations Miguelito.

By the way, for anyone interested, libel is a subset of defamation of character and applies to defamation in print. Section 45 of the California Civil Code defines libel as "a false and unprivileged publication by writing, printing, picture, effigy, or other fixed representation to the eye, which exposes any person to hatred, contempt, ridicule, or obliquy, or which causes him to be shunned or avoided, or which has a tendency to injure him in his occupation."

Wolfe might try to characterize Brandon as a "limited purpose public figure" because of his recent newsworthiness (i.e., recent statement and USC exit interview, etc.), in which case it would be necessary to prove New York Times malice, i.e., that Wolfe acted with "knowing falsity" of his statements or with "a reckless disregard for the truth."

In any case, if it DOES bear out that Wolfe libeled Brandon, I'm sure I could assemble a PLATOON of Trojan lawyers who would glady take this case for free in order to CRUCIFY Wolfe. But, for now, we'll have to wait and see, and let this whole thing play itself out.

Sad for the Sooners....I guess we wont see them in Tempe...lol!

Thank you Troy Boy for your eloquent synopsis of the nuances of the elements of libel. FYI, nobody IS interested...stick to bashing miguelito and discussing how sick a recruit Wilson is, not trying to show off how smart “you think you are...this is a football blog. You give lawyers a bad name.

We need to keep a cool head about everything. You guys can blame Wolf all you want, but he isn't the only one reporting this too. Gary Klein at the LA Times also reported the same story today. I want to give Brandon the benefit of the doubt-- so let's wait till we see his response too before we start martyr'ing some folks.

scott,

it is astonishing how fearless you are. i would not worry about the threats of libel litigation from the shy fellow who proudly proclaims that he has a ba and a jd from usc and the hordes of trojan lawyers he threatens you with.

like the other mudslingers, this guy also chooses to hide behind an internet false id instead of having the courage to reveal his name.

perhaps he is justifiably concerned that his threats against you give you grounds to sue him in the courts and take his assets.

truth is an absolute defense and i am certain that you would not publish anything like this w/o plenty of backup.

besides, pete carroll and his crew certainly do not want this dirty laundry to come out in the courts, along with the rest of the steroid garbage involving other usc players that i suspect goes with it.

as for the old usc law school grads, i have never ran into one who was even a decent litigator. i took on a fellow named fred fenster, a partner in the big downtown firm of richards, watson, and gershon, who was defending the bank of beverly hills in a civil lawsuit tried before a jury at the central la superior court on grand street, based on fraudulent conduct by the bank of beverly hills.

fred was so full of himself and his usc degrees that he had to let the judge and the jury know that we could not have trial on thursdays because he taught a seminar at usc law school on civil litigation on that day.

fred and the bank of beverly hills got one vote out of 12 jurors- the one exception being a usc grad.

the bank got hit with a huge judgment which i collected.

because of that judgment and so many other irregularities in which that bank engaged while being advised by fred, that bank was shut down by the superintendent of banks for that state of california, who, at that time, was my cousin, james gilleran.

i am certain that there are plenty of fine attorneys out there who are usc grads like you scott, especially the more recent new usc grads, who would be happy to take on your defense in the unlikely event this fellow sues you and your cross complaint against this shy guy who hides behind an internet id.

scott, you and the other people who really love usc and want the new usc to succeed have every right and reason to be extremely suspicious of pete carroll and the football program that he has been running using the name of usc, but certainly not in keeping with the standards of the new usc.

the usc press dept tried to pass this ting thing off as a pure academic matter while pete carroll and others must have known that it was not.

i wish you and the many other honorable usc grads who love their school and the great academic strides it has made the best of luck in cleaning up the football program.

the character who posted that threat against you are a dying breed. given usc's current academic standards, very few, if any, of these people or their progeny could qualify for admission to usc.

keep up the great work,

robert t. gilleran ba forham university summa cum laude jd yale law school, editor, yale law journal and proud to have been disbarred in the state of california by crooks in the state bar beaurocracy for( no matter what any state bar beaurocrat may say to the contrary) refusing to stop publicising data on crooked and incompetent california judges, 2 of whom, so far, have subsequently plead guilty to felonies in federal court and been sent to prison, after the la county da refused to prosecute. i continue to wreak havoc on the dishonest people in the california court system. contrary to some ignorant people, i remain an attorney, more deadly than ever since the crooked and incompetent judges cannot use crooks in the state bar as leverage against me. my law practice in california is simply limited to one client, myself, including causes of action and judgments that i purchase from 3rd parties, such as yourself. i remain undefeated in jury trials and one of the nation's leading experts in civil rico cases.

Oh how much you underestimate the wisdom of Scott and the freedom given to our press under our constitution.

Stating that "multiple sources state" a list of allegations or rumors is enough to sheild newspapers and journalist from libel.

I am sure that with Brandon Ting's father's association with the Barry Bonds there are a lot of people who are making the same allegations.

And USC's coaching staff did seem to be trying to push them out of the door, as reported in this blog. Wolf has said they were going to bury BT in the receiver position I think; and that they volunteered to withdraw from their scholarships and pay their own way. He hinted that some coaches were just down on them. Either this is rumor mongering by Scott (happens all the time) or 'SC has been giving this kid the bum's rush because he actually did cheat. Then the fact that they are off the team after the end of the summer seemed to scream "the coaches kicked you off b/c of some hanky-panky!!!" (They offered a sort of reasonable explanation later.)

I hope they didn't but if any kid had reason (injury and more talent around him) access (his father) it was BT. NONE of that is evidence just the sort of thing that may be fueling the rumors.

A kid listed at weighing (a very generous)180lbs., running a 10.85/10.9 doesn't seem like the product of juicing but you never know...

Why doesn't he admit that above while criticizing a Trojan for hiding behind "an internet id"? Because he's a hypocrital wipe for pretending to not have an agenda while criticizing all Trojan litigators.

What's weird is that for such an illustrious legal career, three of his football related posts appear on Google before any law related material.

Hey Miguelito,
Put a sock in it! Props to Texas because they won BUT I don't see them finishing higher than 10th by season's end largely due to the exodus of Vince Young. Plus Nebraska, TEXAS A&M, TEXAS TEXAS TECH, OKLAHOMA STATE and OKLAHOMA are licking their chops because you guys are the champs. MEANWHILE my trojans will contend for the title once more thanks to an awesome recruiting class ranking above all others despite losing the Rose Bowl and players who are hungry to win a title again. Last but not least, what goes on in a top HS football recruits' mind when decision time for a college comes about? Do I want to play in BFE Austin, TX or sunny Southern California?
