Pete On Passing
USC coach Pete Carroll on last night’s scrimmage passing stats: 17 for 36, 220 yards, 2 TDs, 1 INT.
``The numbers are still mediocre,’’ Carroll said. ``I know we’re playing really good pass defense. We still need to get those numbers up.’’

No mention of Norm Chow?

Norm Chow wouldn't make any difference in practice. Where you need Norm is during the game to study the opposing defense and call the right play to pick them apart.

Why would he mention Norm Chow? The man's been gone for 12+ months. Rule 1 of coaching: Don't dwell in the past. Norm Chow would have been gone by now regardless. He is too talented and experienced to remain a co-ordinator at the college level this long.

So is anyone going to admit that the offensive side of the football team misses Norm Chow? Please please please Lane and Sark, get your ARSES in gear and do some coaching.

89....why would he mention the long gone Norm Chow when discussing the USC's current passing progress? According to you, he might also have mentioned Carson Palmer or Matt Cassell or Matt Leinart or hell, Mike Williams, or how about Lynn Swann, or little John Jackson, or Pat Haden or Jaguar John Arnett...... What a turd you must be!
Why the hell do you even post on this outstanding info blog? Do you get your jollies off just being a turd? How about something either factual, positive or relevent for a change.

Don't worry about USC_89 making sense.

Another day, another dumb post by USC_89. Get use to it everyone. He is not going anywhere. He loves getting all this attention even though it's negative. What a loser.

Without Norm Chow we made it to the national championship game. And oh yea, unlike during the Norm Chow days, we had a depleted defense last year. A high-octane offense was much needed.
Had our offense been deeper last year and our D line been stronger we would have beaten Texas and won our third NC in a row.
So where's the problem with the post-Chow offense???
Furthermore, Pete's brought in Nick Holt to oversee the Defense while Pete can focus more on offense. Let's not forget that Pete is the architect of our entire team and play book.

Sorry, but with only one good Center and almost no passsing game I'd say that the O needs a change in coaching staff. Especially since USC has the best best group of receivers in the nation.
Just talk to folks back East who are New England fans. You get a very different view of Pete Carroll.
I like his recruiting abilities, but as for coaching, well the 2006 Rose Bowl says it all.
I wish Weiss had come to USC instead.
And don't remind me about the Hicket days. USC shouldn't have even allowed that to happened.
There are just too many former NFL coaches out of a job each year that could give USC other coaches to try. But I'd be happy with a improved O staff. If you can backup PC with the right staff, he makes a great top guy.
Fight On!

USC_90,
I see you have been taking your remedial english classes. You somehow managed to not call yourself an idiot like you did in your past pathetic attempt to slam me. And I could not agree with you more, you are an idiot.

Man, coaching is a tough gig. You can win 34 games in a row, two NCs and a few inches here or there from a third, and most people will still think that they know how to do your job better than you do.

Wow, you guys are brutal. Not to jump in but NC did groom the qb and form the offense that we saw last year, even though he obviously wasn't calling the plays. I hear a lot of people say that it was Bob Johnson and Steve Clarkson but if you look at Chow's collegiate success w qb's you can't in any way discount him as one of, if not the premier groomer of collegiate qb's and ditto as an OC. But it seems early to get down on these guys Sark and Kiff, w/o a game being played. They have the best talent and had the best teacher/mentor. Not only is there experience and quality on the o-line, the best receivers corp, such deep new talent everywhere but the presumed qb and rb have as much experience as any one could w/o being considered damn near vets. I'm hopeful. If the offense isn't rolling by the end of the year I guess Sark and Kiff have a lot of splainin' to do.
