Defensive Detail

While Chauncey Washington's hamstring draws the lion's share of attention, linebacker Brian Cushing's back spasms probably should draw more concern. Although Cushing is expected to return Wednesday, his status is more important because he might be the most critical player on defense. The Trojans can play a 4-3 or 3-4 defense with him in the lineup.
Without Cushing, USC is more likely to rely on a traditional 4-3 with Kyle Moore at defensive end.

C'mon -- with the plethora of linebackers we have? U telling me Crush is the only guy who adapts? I thought Dallas was gonna be the mad dog as well.

Get well soon, Brian. Kyle Moore over Jeff Schweiger?

Scott, how the hell in Brian Cushing the most important player on defense? Isn’t he the one on the ground looking up behind himself every time that eastcoastPN plays that God Damm highlight of Vince Young running into the in zone? Pete Carol’s biggest mistake since he has been at SC was having Cushing spy Vince Young in the Rose Bowl!!!! He was out of position all over the place in the Fresno State game as well and I suspect that the reason there is talk about him moving to DE is because his pass coverage sucks, and so does he. With all the talent SC has this year at line backer why is there so much talk about this guy? He is sorry I have seen all I need to see he is undersized, can’t tackle, can’t cover, and he is a liability out there on defense. Carol should have Starz start at end Rivers, and Maualuga at Mike and Sam LB and have Lula play the week side PERIOD!!!!

Rob-Let's see how well you deliver mail or empty trash cans with the same injury Cushing had.
You'd be on workers comp watching Golden Girls reruns you creep!

What a no talent hump you are, Rob!

Yeah Rob, and he's out of shape and sporting bitch teats as well! Send him back over to Charlie Weis who's now getting all the Jersey boys. So much for all-Crushed-up making the homies eat their words.

Brian Cushing is an intense player! You should see him on the practice field knocking players all over the place!
Rob, you don't know what you are talking about.

Long Beach Rob, B-Cush is an awesome, ferocious and intense linebacker, the second best on the team behind that crazy Samoan Mauler, and great in tandem with him. He played through mad shoulder injuries last year. You should really watch him closely this season. Stop tearing down our own players, or, as Warren Sapp once said, "PUT A JERSEY ON!!!"

Long Beach Rob, Brian Cushing is an intense, ferocious and fearless linebacker, second only to the Samoan Mauler, and great in tandem with him. He'll play with a separated shoulder, as he did in the Rose Bowl. You've gotta stop ripping our own players. Otherwise, as Warren Sapp once said, "PUT A JERSEY ON!!!"

Look I appreciate all you guy’s venom but the fact is that I am right. If Keith Rivers (who was injured as well) or Darnell Bing spies Young we are not having this conversation. And speaking of jerseys I can tell by your comments none of you have ever put one on and I am surprised that half of you can spell it. It’s not about tearing down our own players it’s about having the best ones out there and unless has improved 20 times more than he was nine months ago he is not one of them!!!!! Ferocious and intense are not how you play Will LB you have to be disciplined know your keys and react to them and stay in place, not go dive at some guys legs ala Young because you are afraid to get run over by a QB, and then have you losers take up for him by claming he was hurt. You guys should stick to calling out each other.
