Quickie Update
The first-team offense experienced some rough moments in the first part of this afternoon's scrimmage.
John David Booty had a couple passes tipped and threw an interception.
Steve Smith and Michael Coleman also dropped passes.
C.J. Gable and Vidal Hazelton just returned kickoffs for TDs. Chris McFoy blocked a Greg Woidneck punt.
Mark Sanchez threw a short TD pass to fullback Stanley Havili.
Overall, the defense came out ahead today.

BREAKING NEWS JARRETT IS BACK ACCORDING TO USCFOOTBALL.COM AND 1540 THE TICKET.
THANKS again for your comments ... really GREAT!
It would really be nice if VH was cleared by the NCAA ... do you know or have heard anything Scott?
Kickoff coverage still sucks. What a shock!
Too bad no one could figure out that the guy who Carroll wanted to coach the STs as a grad assistant had to actually be enrolled in classes to hold that position.
Ferris better send every kick into the end zone.
Great update. Will Booty be the starter or will Sanchez win out? Does the offense seem to have that spark of last year? Hope so.
To think that cj was going to be considered a db. I'm really starting to like this kid. He was the least talked about rb prospect; maybe because he came out of a city school?
How come Yahoo! scooped Wolf...and I had to read about DJ8 getting reinstated on that site?
Yahoo scooped Wolf because that's actually a piece of GOOD news for USC...if it was bad news, this site would have posted it first.
Compared to other usc sites this site does have a more negative overtone at times. uscfootball.com are total homers and wearesc.com is such a homer I cancelled my password.
Scott keep it real, I trust you, Fight on.
All that being said, it felt real good today to see DJ get reinstated. even though I know he does not have any money to pay back to any charity...this gurantees he will leave next year to pay his bills.
Desmond Reed healthy would be the next step to our fall camp being a great one. Note to Pete. Felix Jones will also run back 100 yard touchdown on special teams if we got crappy walk-ons on special teams.
Put some of the linebackers and secondary players, who want to earn some starting time out there to stop this madness.
Is Mike Coleman Alive? Was he talking crap to Lendale last year? Wasn't he suppose to be the starter? it must suck when freshman come right in a take your spot. Coleman looked good in garbage time last year, he obviously needs to work harder.
One, 1 yard td isn't enough for him if he wants to compare himself to Lendale.
Clarrett's fall is really sad. I we never forget how that effected Mike Williams decison making process to leave sc early.
