Rent Control
A student wanted to move into the downtown L.A. penthouse apartment Monday shared by Matt Leinart and Dwayne Jarrett last year and was told it would cost $4,300. That’s $500 more than it cost when Leinart signed his rental agreement, but it’s understandable because the Medici complex is much better known thanks to the publicity surrounding the complex since last spring.
Meanwhile, Reggie Bush officially moved out of the Medici last week, following the lead of Jarrett and Leinart. Jarrett is now living alone in another downtown apartment and said he pays about $1,000 per month.

so landlords raise the rent after the tenant leaves? No way! You really blew the doors off that scandal, Scott

13% jump in rent is kinda of extreme. Scott has a point.

It is not odd at all. Most of the big complexes charge very high list prices and then give all kinds of deep cuts for things like 18 or 24 month leases. Sometimes they just toss in a free month on a 12 month lease to make the rent reasonable. That way they can legally jack up the prices on you if don't sign another long term lease after the first one. Also the downtown area is exploding in popularity. Million dollar lofts around the corner from skid row is now the norm. So there is no story here, just Scott's man crush on Leinart (like the boy in grade school picking on the girl he can't have).

Bill Dwyre taking pot shots at Scott? That's a new low for the man who trashed one of the nation's great sports pages during a long, lamentable tenure as sports editor. Now he's reduced to writing whining columns about SC players and carping at the competition. Sad.

Reggie Bush also lived at the Medici? Did Leinart's Dad take care of his rent as well?

How did Bush afford to live there?

"Jarrett is now living alone in another downtown apartment and said he pays about $1,000 per month."
So Jarrett can now afford to pay $400 a month more rent than he could last year? This being in addition to the $5,000.00+ he has to pay to charity for getting $10,000.00 of his rent paid for by an sc booster....Pete Carrol must have gotten /given him a nice raise this year.....

The real question is: did Matt Leinart sign any autographs while living there?
