Bush Calls Carroll
Former USC tailback Reggie Bush called Pete Carroll last night and again stated he did not receive improper financial benefits from sports marketing agents.
``He was very firm about all of that,'' Carroll said. ``He wanted to make sure the situation is exactly as it was from the start.''

Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha. Cant believe he bought it.
"I did not have sexual relations with that woman."
Question: Is USC responsible for Reggie's step father starting a sports related business which ultimately lead to a partnership break up? Seems that this is business 101.
If Bushs' are so clean, then WHY won't they talk to the NCAA? All due respect, Reggie needs to convince the NCAA, not Pete, and he won't talk to the NCAA.
reelbruin:
have you ever been sued? You don't hand out free testimony when you are in the middle of a lawsuit or about to be sued. Any lawyer with half a brain would order their client to keep their mouth shut regardless if they are liable or not. I'm sure Reggie has been under the same direction.
Rick-
That's a good point, and with upcoming depositions, we'll see what gets said. The paper evidence Yahoo has no doubt will make its way to NCAA also, if it is authentic. Anyways, regardless, my point remains valid: Pete Carroll is not ultimately the one that needs to be convinced.
What's sad about these situations is really that IF in fact Bush did any of what he is accused of, it will be players that he no longers plays with, that suffer.
Thoughts on Mr. Bush's college situation:
He is a pro now and there is not a damn thing the NCAA can do to punish him, they can only hurt SC.
What is the NCAA going to take a heisman away from a guy who has millions in is bank account?
I will ask this question to anyone who knows. Why is the yahoo news team(actually two monkeys in a mail room) the only news group focused on this?
If they have all this evidence then why not just provide the NCAA with all the cell phones of the people making these claims against Bush?
I know why, it's because this all allegations of he said she said, not facts. Since all this stuff is coming from the camp of a bitter dumped agent is there really going to be proof admitted to the NCAA that does not effect the lawsuit? This whole thing is only about money. Getting money from Bush.
Bush needs to settle this issue and place a gage order on all parties involved.
If the yahoo guys have hotel receipts I really want to know how they got them from a vegas casino ... If they are this aggressive, they need to do an investigation on Bin Laden to help the ratings of Yahoo news.
Lastly, if he is guilty, punish him not the future of the program. You want to change some records and say we really did not kick the crap out of the Sooners thats fine. We all know we did, so.
Punish bush by making him give the heisman to Young on Sports Center.
As for USC coaching staff, if they didn't know about all this stuff, then it is simply not USC's fault. If someones wanna-be-Ike-Turner, Pimp stepdad wants to make a pimps "wage off" off his step kid, that cannot be controled by any college.
If you give the Heisman to Vince Young, I think Vince Young needs to be fully investigated himself to make sure that we are giving the trophy to someone who is legit.
I want to know where he got the money to buy his fancy suit at the Heisman ceremony. If he's clean, then give him the trophy.
I saw this on foxsports.com...

UPSHAW LOOKS TO BUSH-WHACK AGENTS: When word broke late this week that Saints RB Reggie Bush had allegedly taken more than $100,000 from prospective agents last year, NFLPA chief Gene Upshaw decided he'd had enough. Now, Upshaw, with the help of USC head coach Pete Carroll, is on a mission to implement drastic and wide-ranging changes to the landscape of the agent game.
Upshaw told FOXSports.com that he intends to put together a resolution that will call for agents to no longer be allowed to have any contact with a college player until he is eligible for the NFL draft, a drastic change from the current practice.
"We'll put a resolution together where if anybody does that we'll suspend them," Upshaw said.
Currently, agents are allowed to talk to prospective clients whenever they choose, even in high school, as long as no money is exchanged and no contract signed. In Upshaw's latest proposal, there can be no contact at all.
In fact, Upshaw went one step further on Friday when he called Carroll to discuss assembling a group of college coaches to help Upshaw in curbing the problem.
"It was Pete who first alerted me to how big the problem is," said the NFLPA exec. "He told me something needs to stop because his school is like agent central. They are always around. I was always ready to listen but now, in light of the recent news, it's time to move on this."
While Upshaw understands this may not sit well with agents, he believes the problem has completely grown out of control.
"There was one kid who recently declared his intention of which school he is going to attend and during his announcement, he had an agent with him," said Upshaw. "They're recruiting kids straight out of high school. That's ridiculous."
It's unclear if Carroll has yet to return Upshaw's call, but the union chief figures they'll speak this week. Carroll and other coaches are going to be called upon to help Upshaw on how they can effectively crack down on the problem.

For those who continue to try the irrelevant-to-the-facts "Yahoo writers are nobodies" defense, let me introduce you to the new media.
Just recently a bunch of bloggers exposed news photography photoshopping by a Reuters contractor in Lebanon. Others have been exposing misleading posed/set-up photographs as well. Not your print media -- new Web 2.0 sources.
The Rhett Bomar employment story was originally found on...a Texas A&M message board.
In 2004, bloggers and a source from an Internet message board completly exposed the forged letters in the Rather/Mapes 60 minutes story.
Welcome to the 21st Century, Luddites!
Clarification on the Heisman: It's not NCAA controlled. It's controlled by its own board of trustees, and the NCAA has zero control over it.
Yes, but the Heisman Foundation doesn't own Reggie's Heisman. It's his. They can issue another one, but Reggie and the school for that matter have those trophies for keeps. And if they do issue another one, should they decide that Reggie was not eligible, then they should have another vote, and see how many of Reggie's votes actually go to Vince Young and how many go to Matt Leinart, who finished 3rd and was just as deserving as VY for Heisman consideration that season.
