Great article on SC history Wolfie! That 1979 team was UNBELIEVABLE, one of the best college football teams of all time... National Champions, beat a strong Michigan in the Rose Bowl...
And now that depth of talent is back. And getting stronger...
Its nice to know that if one Trojan goes down Pete Carroll pulls the next guy off the bench and its as if the beat never stopped. The question I have is what happened to Strength and Conditioning Coach Chris Carlisle? Dating back to early last season, there have been numerous injuries that have depleted both defense and offense. Are these guys not serious in getting into championship form like the 2004 team?
These are not conditioning related injuries. This year's team might even be better conditioned than teams in the past...just look at what they are doing in the third and fourth quarter, they aren't even winded. The Trojans go hard every single day in practice, and the most fit survive. This is a rough sport, and you have to have as much luck as you do conditioning to avoid injury. Ryan Powdrell's injury had nothing to do with conditioning. Carlisle is one of the best in the business.
Hey Rex, all I'm saying is they are more injuries in 3 games than the whole entire 2004 season. Your'e right as far as conditioning, but any way you slice it the Trojans are still suffering way too many injuries.
