Not USC

While USC fans might yearn for his return, we hear there's only two jobs right now that would seriously appeal to Norm Chow under ideal circumstances: North Carolina State and Arizona State.

PC will make a big push to have coach Chow back at USC as OC. I suggest having players like Mark Sanchez, whom Chow recruited, give him a call and prepare a big speec on hos they miss him. Chow would be touched!

Who cares ... is he ever happy or does he always wish he were somewhere else?

The only time he stayed anywhere for a long period was a college that passed him up three times ... since then he has jumped around wishing for something to magically pop up ...

USC paid him more than he was ever worth and what did he do ... he cried "wolf" and left the players always wondering if he was coming back or ??? Norm Chow is NOT head coach material ... period ...

Do you mean those jobs appeal to him as a head coach or as an OC?

Arizona State said:

We don't want him.

I know UCLA would take him in an instant.

CaliFB - you must be kidding. Chow will never work under PC again. It's not like Chow left on the best of terms. Truth is, PC came to the conclusion that Chow wasn't worth the headache of wondering if he would stay or go each year which other schools used against them in recruiting. Kiffin convinced PC that Chow was too old, was not a good recruiter and that he had learned everything he needed to know from Chow. A final benefit was that PC could prove it was he, and not Chow, that was responsible for the Trojan's success.

That ship has sailed. Move on.

I'm not so sure that he was overpaid, Look at what the SC offense did with him. It went from morbid to fantastic. And yes I give him credit for the 2005 offense

What about USC Head Coach?

No way Chow comes back. Carroll drove him off in the first place. Chow got too much credit. Where was Chow during NC celebration after Orange Bow? He was demoted from OC. Garrett was upset he left.

If he came back it would be to be head coach.

PC will not try to bring Chow back. He wanted Chow gone in the first place.

Carroll will never put himself out to get Chow back. That's fine with me. I think Kiff and Sark are doing a good job and will improve.

stanford will be looking in the near future ...so will ucla, ariz st. oregon st. maybe even byu might sign him up ... to bad he didn't stay with a winner.
he missed his chance yrs ago, by staying with byu.
o well.... ...timing is everything.

I wish him well. But we are set and have moved on.

CaliFB - PC and Chow dislike each other. They won't work together again. That professional relationship is over.

Two words on bringing back Norm: John Robinson. As we all know, you can't go home again.

You're kidding right CaliFB? PC pushed Chow out because his own ego was being bruised when Chow was getting some credit for the teams sucess...
PC would never have a big name guy take any credit for anything. Why do you think Lane Kiffin is the OC?? lol

Stanford ought to admit it's mistake of taking Walt Harris over Norm Chow and ask for a do-over.

With the right staff that could be a great fit for Norm.

Some may argue this point, but Norm has always been a really classy guy in his dealings with players and his public statements about the USC situation.

Who here actually knows what they're talking about, in terms of having first-hand or even second-hand knowledge about what Norm or Pete is thinking? Just asking.

I understand from a friend who worked in the BYU SID's office that under Norm's unassuming facade is a egomaniac who craves attention, which is why the Mormons passed on him when Lavelle Edwards retired. Regardless, it doesn't make sense that someone with any kind of an ego would come back to the same position he was in before going to the NFL.

Stanford already passed on him, and he was OC with Philip Rivers at NC State, so it makes sense that the Wolfpack or ASU would be logical possibilities.

Someone please take a sledge hammer to eftzoons.
As much as I would like Norm Chow to come back, it won't happen. PC and NC couldn't realize that they were a great compliment to eachother on both sides of the ball. Had that relationship stuck together USC football would be untouchable.
Enough said lets move on and pray LK and Sark can keep this train going.

About Inside USC

Scott Wolf has covered USC for the Daily News since 1996. A USC graduate, he covered his first Trojan game in 1984 for the Daily Trojan. Scott is known as the "scourge of the Internet message boards," according to radio host Petros Papadakis. Despite this moniker, there's no truth to the rumor he takes pleasure in antagonizing the "Internet geeks."
