Pinkard Update

| | Comments (4) |

Safety Josh Pinkard will undergo an MRI on his knee Tuesday but USC coach Pete Carroll said Sunday that it still looks like a serious injury. Freshman Taylor Mays moves into the starting lineup.
ADD PINKARD: He was probably the one guy USC did not want to get hurt seriously, especially after he played five different positions last season. He led USC with six solo tackles against Arkansas and was also a valuable special teams player.

Thanks for the info, Scott. I agree with your synopsis.
You're fun to harrass because you may be as cynical as I--I respect that!
Think Uncle Pete will move Bradford to defense? Des looks good, but obviously still recovering;what'd you think?

Mustain did look good ... right up until that INT. I seriously have to believe that if the true frosh had played the entire game, his first college game, with an Offensive Coordinator fresh from the high school ranks, against Pete Carroll and USC, ... well, he would have thrown 5 or 6 picks. But, he may have looked good, otherwise.

We will definitely miss Josh Pinkard. He is very steady. The bright side is Taylor Mays looked pretty good during the brief time he played in the Arkansas game. I saw him come up very quickly on a sweep, ala Darnell Bing.
I like the idea of moving Allen Bradford back to the Safety position. The Arkansas game proved our TB position is very solid. If needed, Ryan Powdrell looks capable of providing some "big back" depth near the goal line to complement Chauncey. I just hope Bradford is a lot quicker at the Safety position than he looks from the TB position. As a TB, Bradford did not look as fast as advertised, compared to CJ Gable & E Moody. Hopefully, he shows more closing speed in the secondary. Otherwise, he might be moved again - to the LB corps.

I read the suggestion of Sartz moving to safety. I would like to see that happen with Cushing replacing him at SAM(?) and getting Schweiger/Moore enough reps to improve and make plays. They must not be getting it done or they'd be in there already as a long term solution. I think w/ Ellison still pretty new (four starts?), Dallas Sartz would be very solid from an experience perspective. Plus I think he has the wheels to make plays and he would bring an anvil to the point of attack.
Schweiger and Moore are great athletes, they need to figure out how to make plays i.e. Playing Time. We all know PC wants Cushing on the field with his man boobs and seemingly constant chasing of an opposing QB into the endszone shot on TV...
Josh Pinkard was money, hope he comes back strong...next year
