Thanks, Bill
Pete Carroll was pleasantly surprised by Nebraska abandoning its passing attack BEFORE the game, which made his job a little easier.
``They went back into their total running offense,’’ Carroll said. ``I was surprised how they thought they needed to play us. They threw a ton last year.''
Cornhuskers coach Bill Callahan admitted he was determined to run the ball, even though he was hired to add a sophisticated passing game to the playbook.
``We wanted to establish the run,’’ Callahan said. ``We felt we could run. You need to run to win championships. Let me be clear. We want to run. It didn't happen and we're disappointed and we'll take a look at it.''

Every now and then a brilliant recruit comes up on the scene. Cedric Everson from Detroit is the best Cb recruit in years. He's better than the overated Donovan Warren. In the words of the famous Giogio Moroder. The brutha can play. Cedric was on his official visit to USC and loved. Welcome to troy Ced.
I'll be another to say thanks Bill. I was also very surprised to see Nebraska ditch their pass happy offense and try ardently to run on first and second downs. It amazes me that opposing coaches continue to try and establish the running game on Pete Carroll who in 5 plus seasons has made it a defensive philosophy to take away the run and force his opponent to be one dimensional. I thought Nebraska would show more than they did but its obvious they lined up against one of the nation's best defenses.
If I were a husker fan I would not be satisfied with a moral victory. Isn't this the program that fired Frank Solich after a 10 win season claiming mediocrity. A loss is a loss. There is nothing you can claim from this except that your team and program are nowhere near what it used to be. Just be happy that USC's offense was not firing on all cylinders. Sad thing is husker fans are already looking forward to next years date with the Trojans in Lincoln. By then USC's defense will only be stronger and with J.D. Booty returning with a stable of sophmore running backs plus a corps of receivers, the offense will only be stronger too! FIGHT ON!

I cannot recall ever seeing as poor an offensive game plan in my life as what I witnessed from Nebraska. Can you imagine what potential Nebraska recruits must've been thinking watching that? Their team deserved better from their coaches.
Let's see Callahan, we have a true freshman corner starting at SC and you don't throw his way all day? The Children of the Corn are going to eat you for that one. You better watch your cobb and not lose any more games.
Cornhuskers are seeing psychiatrists all week now because of you. Don't ever show up like that in L.A. again. So to teach you a lesson, we will beat you in front of your own fans next year provided your'e still there, when our defense is even better and our offense Bootylicious.
Learn from the Academy of Norm Chow... I wish Lane Kiffin did...
I love it when a hard-headed coach keeps repeating what he "wanted" to do. You can't always get what you want, Bill! SC didn't give you the run, so guess what? You PASS. See you in Lincoln! I hope you want to establish the run again... (when Cushing, Rey, and Keith are absolute beasts) I'll make for a pleasant trip back to SoCal.
suge-Eversen(likely for Gtech) is not even best cornerback in his own state. He is not close to the athletethat Ronald Johnson is and is also second place to FSU bound Dionte Allen.
Get a life and quit pimping a guy who is obviously a family member.
If Nebraska wants an accurate "barometer" for measuring the state of its program in Callahan's 3rd year, yesterday's game vs. USC wasn't it. How about comparing apples to apples in terms of time frame? That is, Callahan's 3rd year with Carroll's 3rd year ... or Carroll's 2nd year for that matter. It's amazing what the Cornhusker fans have led themselves to believe: that the way back to respectability will come through patience and a thick west coast playbook that takes kids more than three years to master ... never mind about proper game planning and adjustments, let alone teaching kids how to win. We at USC know better. It all sounds like a Hackett job to us.
