About Inside USC
Scott Wolf has covered USC for the Daily News since 1996. A USC
graduate, he covered his first Trojan game in 1984 for
the Daily Trojan. Scott is known as the "scourge of the Internet
message boards," according to radio host Petros Papadakis. Despite this
moniker, there's no truth to the rumor he takes pleasure in
antagonizing the "Internet geeks."

Scott, at least admit that that offensive pass interference was a totally BS call. As Davis stated, the defensive back initiated the contact, and Stafon simply ran over him.
Give the kid a break. The penalty was a bad call! I did like the way he rolled that defender though. A nice move if he'd have been carrying the ball through the line also.
HAHAH!!! That is hilarious, Scott! I always love the little subtle things that you write, which obviously convey a bigger message. For example, the one about the (UC)LA Times copying what you report and all that.
Hey Scott, does this mean that reports about Stafon Johnson redshirting can now be put to rest? I believe the rule was 3 games, and this was game 4. So he will not redshirt, correct? Probably a smart move, people call Broderick Green a faster version of Jamal Lewis. Marc Tyler has been compared to a bigger and faster Emmitt Smith.
Keep up the great work, Mr. Wolf. Your site is much better than that homer site wearesc!

wrong again johnny! wearesc.com = uscfootball.com > scottie's site >> your existence as my son.
thats strike two for you. first one being the thousands of dollars you lost on the rose bowl that has now put you on welfare checks.
I thought SJ did a great job knocking the WSU player (that initiated the contact) onto to his ass! The refs got the wrong side on that call. SJ made back into to the game, so I the coaches seem to agree!
Why was that a penalty? Why wasn't he allowed to roll that guy if the the other guy made contact first?
I'm proud of Stafon for laying that guy out. Hopefully he's like that when he runs the ball.
I didn't understand the pass interference call. THe ball didn't go in his direction. I always thought that this is football, that a receiver can make contact with the defender when they are coming off the line of scrimmage.
Scott, be fair. That was a horrible call. I cannot believe a college ref would make that call. The dback jumps infront of Stafon after the 5 yard mark and gets bulldozed. Cause he got knocked on his ass, Stafon gets the flag which was horrible.
It was actually defensive pass interference. I think it is hysterical the size/speed ratio of Stafon and how he knocked that guy silly.
As far as Broderick Green to Jamal Lewis comparisions? What are you talking about. Totally different style of runners. Green is taller than Lewis and does not run with that pad level. He is a big guy that runs like Eddie George or a slower version of Eric Dickerson.
Maybe if we threw Stafon the ball before he ran threw the defender, it would have been a long gain and perhaps made ESPN highlights. Keeping things positive, Scott. Perhaps one day, Stafon will have his day in the sun and put all his critics to rest.
I'm more disappointed with Allen Bradford. He has had more opportunities on the field than Stafon Johnson and has not shown the fans anything. I say replace Allen with Stafon and see what happens. At least Stafon showed us he could run threw somebody.
Hmmmmm.
I'm no ref, so I'm not sure if that was pass interference or not, but I'll take a pancaking of my opponent like that any day!
I agree with dude and gillyking. The call was bogus ad the db came up on Johnson, and he just flattened him.
Two of the most important plays of the game had to be Brittingham somehow getting on Bradford's fumble after it appeared that WSU had recovered , and Woidneck somehow getting control of the high snap and getting off a great kick.
Stafon is going to be a great player!
That was a bogus call!
Another bust.
Poor taste, Scott!
What I liked was the way Stafon ran over him without being phased. Give him the ball.
What's funny about the John Redcorn comment is that all UCLA fans believe the LA Slimes to be a 100% USC paper.
I remember Keyshawn Johnson's first play as a Trojan, wherein he just got drilled and looked like he didn't know the ball was coming. He turned out to be an okay player.
Does this mean we are going to now read about every time Stafon makes a mistake? I sense the new: "Matt Leinart didn't sign autgraphs at an event/the USC students are getting screwed on ticketing" topic. My guess is every time Stafon scores, Scott will remind us all that he had a PI call when he first took the field.
Memo to Wolf: We all watch the games and saw the penalty. Share with us info we might not otherwise know: Your McFoy report and hotel room report were very interesting for example. Repeatedly capping on the players and systems you don't like is not.
Maybe it is just the fallout from the Oregon/OU debacle, but that game seemed to be a series of poor calls and bad makeup calls for those bad calls. A few of the PI calls were poorly played by SC. They need a lot of work on making a play on the ball in the air. Overall though, I thought both sides should have been upset with the officiating. That Steve Smith hold/no-hold call was pretty much the story of the game, I thought. He either held or he didn't, please decide and don't hold up the game for half an hour while you talk it out.
