3rd-And-37

Offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin was asked if he had any answers for the 3rd-and-37 play faced by the Trojans in the third quarter? ``Not many of them,'' he joked.
Kiffin did say the Trojans still need to improve their deep game.
``It's something we need to continue to work to throw,'' he said.

When Lame Stiffin is asked about having an answer to that play, he says "Not many of them".

What the hell? That is his answer for any type of play...remember 4th and 2? He has no answer for anything, he almost messed up that 4th quarter touchdown by calling passes to that scrub Adewale.

This guy sucks, but not as much as Booty!

Sanchez is better than Booty right now, it's time to switch QBs if we want any chance of going undefeated....which is something like 1 out of 1000 odds.

Why do some of you proclaim Rey Maualuga the best LB in the nation? Hands down, the best is that guy with all the tattoos on OSU (son of The Animal)...that dude is a playmaker. See how many tackles Rey Rey whiffed on today or got muscled out of by a fat o-lineman? Rey missed more tackles than he made....watch the game again if you don't believe me. And Sartz, that guy sucks! He played his best when Tatupu told him what to do, lol.

On a more serious note, will PC fire Lame Stiffin this weekend or during the bye??

I have a hot tip for a new OC...and that would be Larry Coker. Lord knows that after tonights UM-FIU brawl, Coker is certainly gone ASAP. Probably by Tuesday??

Fire Lame Stiffin and make our new OC Larry Coker!

Is there any better clip of the fight that this one? It doesn't show a replay:

I hate to agree with anything that idiot John Redcorn writes, but:

1.) Booty isn't very good. PC seems to think it's because Smith and Jarrett have been hurt, but even the few games they were healthy together, Booty never did show an ability to see the field very well. Teams have figured this out. He is absolutely no threat to over the top.

That said, PC isn't going to throw Booty under the bus. It is not his style, and it sets a negative tone, not only for the team, but to parents of recruits. So I guess we're stuck with Booty, at least for the rest of this year.

2.) Rey Rey can be blocked. He's good, better than most PAC 10 MLB's, but no, he's not all-american. Keith Rivers is the best player and the defense right now, maybe in the PAC-10.

3.) The defense wasn't horrible. Other than the 3rd and 21 screen pass they gave up for a TD, they didn't play that bad.

4.) Playcalling wasn't that bad. Give Kiffin credit for noticing that we could wear down ASU with a power running game.

5.) Offensive philosophy, well that's another question. Kiffin wants to practice the vertical game, yet that's what they practiced all last week, and the week before, etc. I don't go to practices, but when during games has Booty ever shown that he can go over the top? He had problems all year with balls being batted down, and he has one being batted down at least one a game. Every game he flirts with disaster and more than a few int's were dropped. Today it came back to haunt him.

6.) Not only the vertical game, but Booty doesn't see the short game that well either. See the INT HE THREW FOR A td.

6.) Larry Coker? If John Redcorn wasn't such an idiot, I'd think he's joking.

7.) John, stop saying "we." I don't believe you are an alumnus, just an idiot bandwagon fan.

I agree Lame Stiffin must go!! That 2nd half was awful. The worst offensive attack ive seen since the PC era began. Lame please use the #1 recruiting classes and talent around you more effectively. Furthermore, I agree Rey missed too many ball carriers between the tackles, and the secondary does not have good enough hands to pick passes even when its thrown right to them.

Perhaps, we are spoiled from watching the success in the past, but this is no championship calibur team. Frankly, the trojans have been lucky the last 3 weeks, and are maybe 3rd best team in the pac ten. Oregon & Cal are going to be wake up calls for SC nation.

On a positive note, I do think this team has a lot of talent and should improve this year and next. C.Washington wow great game! & Allen Bradford needs to be on the field more! Should have taken the FB opportunity from the get go.

Those are crazy ideas. Coker would never settle for being an asistant. He was the head coach of one of the premiere programs in football. And USC would not want him.

That guy on OSU sucks in pass coverage. Just because someone has hair and tattoos and makes a few big tackles doesn't mean they are good. (unlike what most americans think) USC would not want him either.

However, you are right in that it is time for drastic changes. Get booty out of there, he sucks. If he can't do the job by now he never will. Have PC call more of the offensive plays. etc.

As long as Coker (or as Clint referred to him on another post; the Coke Machine) doesn't recruit. He can only play well with other people's recruits.

Jeff said:

Haha, Coker as OC...now I've heard it all. Redcorn is just mad because he lost money on SC again. SC will be fine. We've got a bye & then Oregon St & Stanford to get ready for our tough Nov. stretch. We'll beat Oregon & ND, but Cal will be tough. There is no way Sanchez is better than Booty, that's the booze in Redcorn talking. Booty just needs more time to practice with healthy receivers. Obviosly their timing is off from lack of practice time.

Patrick said:

The problem is that Kiffin/Sarkisian/Carroll have basically relented and realized that Booty can't throw the long ball at all. He has no field vision and no touch and is afraid to throw a long pass unless the WR is standing around WIDE OPEN.

Kiff/Sark don't seem to have much of a clue beyond that, though...who do they think they are fooling by putting M. Brittingham in the slot as a WR? Making the other teams DB's fall over laughing and blow the coverage? T. Patterson and D. Reed, they put in for one play, throw it to them 100% of the time, and take them out. Other teams know this. 2 throws on the 7 yard line to Jody Adewale? Except for the winning drive, USC never crossed the 50 yard line in the second half...

During the game yesterday my dad and I were in the stands and I said to him, "you know, with all of these stud running backs, why don't they call more pass plays out of the backfield or line them up wide like they did with bush last year?" The very next play, Booty hits Bradford, lined up at FB, for a touchdown. Right after that, SC's radio announcers comment that there hasn't been much attention paid to the running backs in the passing game this year (Adewale across the middle doesn't count). This isn't rocket science. The play calling is so basic this year. I don't know if the staff doesn't think that their players are good enough to run a more complicated offense or if they have just written it off after losing last year's weapons. I can call about 70% of the plays from the stands just from seeing the personnel on the field (case in point - Brittingham out wide means a bubble screen is on the way...you can pretty much write that one in concrete). Maybe we're all wrong and they're waiting to unleash the greatest offensive attack of all time once the tough stretch of the schedule hits. Let's hope so, at least.

Over the last 3 years, we've had games where one or more parts weren't clicking. Sometimes it was Leinart having a bad day, or the D-line or DBs, or even the steady Bush or LenDale. Or O-line penalties due to the noise on the road.

All this led to some big halftime deficits, but somebody always picked it up and saved the day. More often than not, it was a steady run game that got us back on track - basic, smashmouth football.

3 years ago Leinart locked in one guy, MWilliams, a lot - but he came through a lot with big catches for us, too. As the QB matured, the playbook was opened up and things came together - a one-loss season with a (AP)title. Not bad.

It all starts with the 'big uglies' up front on both sides - the young 'skills guys' behind them can get better and better at making plays when the battle of the trenches goes our way. As long as they can get/stay relatively healthy and we dominate the line of scrimmage, the close ones can go our way more often than not. But I am still a realist: I can see flashes of it on the O-side, and am still looking for it this year on the D-side. We really miss Patterson and Cody!

We are overrated at #2 right now, but not if we win out: we should play for the NC title with our tough schedule. Yet I think 1, 2 or even 3 losses is a likely outcome, while either OSU or Michigan will go 12-0, and WVU’s trail is a joke. If WVU loses and a 1-loss team gets in to face the Big10 champ, it should be us or maybe Texas.

But a Rose or even Holiday Bowl for our young team would not mean we 'suck'. I'd be happy just winning our bowl and finishing in the top 10. Next year we should be in great shape to go for another title.

Winning 10 games would've seemed like too much to ask back in the summer, but now people are saying we suck since we're not scoring 50 every game. How quickly the assumptions and expectations shift around here. Unbelievable....

Oh, and I assume most people know Redcorn is either an immature 18 y.o. gambling addict, or maybe bipolar wacko, or maybe even a 'tweaker' who doesn't get much sleep. Don't pay any attention to him...

Put down in-sane Lane,.. but not Adewale,..come-on!.. Any idiot that calls running plays and drives the ball down inside the 5 with runs,.. then calls passes to get the ball in,.. reminds me of what happened with UW. In-sane Lane did the same thing in that situation too!. Whatever happened to the Tight-End?
Thought:::-why so many broken bones and Knee problems??? - Fullback and D-back?...possibly cleats are to long??? Kids trying to use every angle to get the opportunity to perform? That would be a coaching issue..
We were NOT a TOP 10 Team SATURDAY!... Maybe we don't have a D coach that Knows the 3-4? Why was Arizona State so Right handed??? Most plays gained going to their right??? didn't the D coach see that???
We miss Josh,..we're also gonna miss Kevin (Thomas) real bad back there! Oh well,.., maybe Bradford can play there too!
