So junk the cover-2! Is that really that hard to figure out? Right now our defense is very vanilla and the other teams seem to always have the perfect play picked out. Ditto for our offense. Dink and dunk...hand off up the middle. I am starting to agree with some of these posts it might be time to get rid of Holt and Kiffin.

Not anything new for SC. Remember the 04 Cal game when Aaron Rodgers completed something like 26 in a row. Bend but don't break has always been an SC plan.

The goal is to make the opposition settle for field goals to try to force things and thus turnovers.

Its important to remember in the UW game we could have picked Stanback off on three separate drives but failed to do so. Players were in the right positions but didn't make the plays.

Simple solution....play less cover 2!

Patrick, Redcorn, F'ed zoons, and the other naysayers need catscans forthwith. Situation critical.

It's hard not to criticize the play calling, both offensively and defensively. But...
I believe in PC. He's a winner and I'm sure he's aware of his team's problems. He'll bring out the best of both Kiffin and Holt. Holt is not that much at fault w/an inexperienced secondary, but Kiffin is just too predictable. In the end, I think PC will help SC win even the close ones.
Ohio State, if we get that far, is playing at a different level...
Hang on and be patient, there's still a lot of football left to play - believe in PC!!

They play cover two due to inexperience. They will play less cover two as they gain experience.

Some of these posts are funny. "We are 5-0! what could be wrong!" Hell, Rutgers is undefeated too, that doesn't mean they will win the BCS. At one point Notre Dame was undefeated,...BUT THEY ARE NOT ANYMORE. And that's what's going to happen to USC if they don't get things fixed. Cop out.

Just like the "We are inexperienced" cop out. Sure, there are players like Mays and Moody who have no experience out there. There are also players like Lua and LoJack who have a ton of experience. DALLAS SARTZ IS A FIFTH YEAR SENIOR! There are also alot of players with a decent amount of experience like Sed Ellis and Keith Rivers. What about DJ? He has no experience? JDB has been at SC and in the system for 3 years. Game experience. What is so difficult?

These posts act like we have an entire squad of 18 year old true frosh out there on offense and defense. Not true at all. Yep we are breaking in some new guys. But alot of teams are.

In other words, let's leave the excuses to the Notre Dame fans. They are the best at it.

Does anyone else get a feeling the team needs an attitude adjustment? They went and stood on the "WSU" logo at midfield, and basically phoned in the game last week, waiting for Washington to roll over and die.

Does anyone remember a world before 2002? If we are honest, all SC fans have gotten spoiled over the last 4 years.

Does anyone really think the 2006 team is better than the 2002 team? I didn't think so. So why do so many people expect anything less than the BCS title game to be a wasted season?

Reality is this is an extremely young team beset by injuries to key players. This does not translate into a 12 or 13 win season. A 10 win season with a foundation for a BCS title run in '07 is much more realistic.

Carroll and his young staff's strength is not game management. He and the staff do a lot of other things (recruiting, motivation, teaching and preparation) extremely well, but his quirky sideline decisions were never analyzed until the 4th and 2 in the Rose Bowl. PC was given too much credit for halftime adjustments in the past. Often it was simply a matter of the opponent (who was down by 2 or 3 touchdowns by the middle of the 3rd quarter) going one-dimensional by necessity.

Now that the Trojans are no longer 3 touchdowns better than everyone they play, the defense is going to have to play 4 solid quarters.
