USC coach Pete Carroll said he and Washington coach Tyrone Willingham exchanged best wishes after the game and also discussed, ``the screwy clock and why things happened the way it did.’’

Why is it that the officials consulted with Tyrone Willingham on almost every major decision? Also, why was Willingham allowed to venture out onto the field so much, without so much as a warning from the officials? He was at the near hash mark on several occasions. The officials helped Washington out tremendously in this game. There were 2 Phanton calls vs. SC: the supposed late hit on Taylor Mays and the phantom clip on Chauncey's long run.

Well its not like it was either coaches fault for the incompetent refs so why wouldn't they chat

I'd agree that the officials were W's 12th man until the last few seconds. And what about the Washington holding the USC D? If you were there, it was plain as day.
If the calls were better, the ending would have been different, and USC would have been #2 in the AP yesterday.
I hope you made your money from who ever paid you off officials. Please don't just make us believe that you are really that bad.

Not to mention the little charlie foxtrot on the "offsides w/inadvertent whistle". Last time I checked, a defender could move into the neutral zone, and come back, as long as the ball wasn't snapped. An o-lineman CAN'T REACT or it's a false start. LoJack jumped, but the whole right side of the washington line did too before the center moved the ball.

TrojanHorse,
the question here wasn't if the refs were incompetent. Your answer doesn't make any sense. Do you honestly believe Carroll was in the refs' ear throughout the game as much as Willingham was? What game were you watching?
Change of rules to speed game helped us this time. Old rules the ball was dead until snapped by center.

Ed, not exactly sure what you're saying. As long as football has been played the ball has been dead until it was snapped by the center. If you're referring to the clock starting when the center snaps the ball after first down, then you are also incorrect. The new clock rules changed nothing about starting the clock after a first down. The clock has always started on the ref's whistle, not on the snap.
