Is there anything we didn't know?

Booty sucks....Mark Sanchez is the savior.

Booty is like Rob Johnson out there.

On the other hand, in Sanchez, we have John Elway!

Who would you rather play? Right now, we definitely know Pete Carroll and his staff are idiots who can't see which player is better!

No wonder New England didn't want this "nice guy coach."

Where do nice guys finish? LAST...in every aspect of life (women, business, money, etc.) Obviously, this also holds true for football as well!

Why am I reading anything affiliated with idiot Scott Wolf? One of two morons who believe West Virginia to be the best college team in America! Even the hillbillies in Morgantown aren't buying that. Get a dayjob, Scotty.

I am sick and tired of all of these fricking idiots bashing coach Pete Carroll, Booty, and Scott Wolf. I think they have done a remarkable job this year being such a young team without those stars!!! Just give them time to find their identity, which was showing little today in the second half. This showing and the almost comeback leads me to believe just like the loss at CAL as pain as it was like today, it'll be the turning point for this team to make their own fame for another couple years to come!

As for Scott Wolf, he has done a great job being very subjective in bringing the news.

Lastly, for those who are bitching, critical and being spoil with the last couple of years sucess, where were you when we were not doing so well in the 90s ha? Attendance to the games were dismal and I didn't see anyone leading a riot act. Thereofre, if you are truly loyal then you keep up the support of the trojans through thick and thin!

The only I want end with is to say shut up with your whining and let's help the trojans get to the Rosebowl with our support during the 3 home games.

Fight on!

Timmy: You are another fair weather fan. Sure a field goal earlier in the game MIGHT have provided enough points to win - but maybe Oregon State would have scored another touchdown, and maybe this and maybe that. JDB did a masterful job at the end, nearly pulling it off.

I hope the whole team and staff learn from this one. We may look upon this loss as the best lesson of all. It had to happen some time and we made them play their best to do it. 2 points - hardly a blowout.

So now all of the fair weathered fans like Timmy are going to start crying.......waa Booty sucks......waa the coaches are idiots.......waa PC is too nice.....waa, waa, waa.....Come on, get a life!

Fight On!

Same thing except you threw to a guy that didn't get off the jam and couldn't hold on to anything all day (bad shoulder, shouldn't have been playing). Turner might of had a chance. Why not look for Super Smith who owned the Beavers all day long? Booty didn't call the play though. Hmmm, seem to remember last year's QB audibled quite a bit, but he's now in the nfl. Booty won't be making that trip. I'd play Sanchez too, but then you don't have an experienced backup for next year.

When you throw for 406 yards it is unlikely you will be pulled for a freshman.

With the score @ 33-10, I was sitting on my couch watching the game in a very calm state. I figured "we were down this much...it can't get any worse, only better". So finally my wish was granted!!! The Offense finally opened up the playbook!!! My only question is why did it take 6 games + 3 quarters to do so? It was so nice to finally see the Trojans moving the ball with such ease and fluidity...

RE: JDB, etc.
A. Stats
1. Before OSU game JDB's QBR(NCAA Formula) 135.21
2. After OSU game QBR 140.61
Facts
1. Critical INT when trying to connect with DJ. NO points for OSU after but killed a Trojan scoring drive.
2. JDB fumble> OSU FG
3. JDB did NOT spray the ball enough even though Fred Davis caught a TD pass, SS 2 TD's and DJ= 0.
4. Improvements yes, we have to be objective and give JDB the benefit of some doubts NO Matter how much we like or favor MS(myself included). My humble solution is for the QB's coach to keep working with him to eliminate his mistakes and bad tendencies. I was blasted for suggesting Jim Fassel who is available. He is also one of the best QB coaches around. According to the reading on blogs Bill Walsh is the best. Sam Wyche, former Trojan Mike Holmgren, Mike Shanahan and former USC coach Ron Turner follow(NOT in that order) and yes, Fassel has been mentioned. I am NOT ignoring Norm Chow and I leave at that-realistically and intelligently!
5. Hopefully this defeat will have a maturation impact on this young team.
My humble two cents as Trojan and CFB fan.
Thnx

Hey SoCalMab,
"Nearly pulling it off" DOES NOT COUNT!

If JDB plays better early on in the game and avoids fumbling once and two interceptions he wouldn't have to scramble late in the game to get victory.

I'm sorry but JDB is not the man for the job. His charity time is up at QB and I just wish the coaches would see that too. They have a 6 foot 5 stallion on the bench that should be playing.
There is a reason Carson Palmer and Matt Leinart rarely had their passes deflected they were each 6 foot 5. Booty at 6 foot 2 will continue to have his passes deflected trying to throw over lineman that are taller than him.

IT IS TIME FOR THE MARK SANCHEZ ERA TO BEGIN!

Booty had his chance and I believe even the coaches know he is not the man but charity was given to him for sitting on the bench for so long.
LEARN FROM THIS LOSS TROJANS, YOU HAVE TO PLAY ALL FOUR QUARTERS INSTEAD OF JUST THE FOURTH QUARTER!

FIGHT ON!

Felipe said:

Hey Dale,

When you throw for 406 yards you should F&@#ing win the game. Lets see 2 interceptions and another fumble by BOOTY! VERY COSTLY TURNOVERS!

TIME TO MAKE A CHANGE COACH!

TrojanEncore said:

Booty played a heck of a 4th qtr. For the 1st time I noticed him looking off his WRs. However on the last played he did lock into DJ. I will give him a pass on that play however. Bad habits are not broken easy. I was impressed however with the comeback he made.

For once I understand the rational of every comment. Wow!
NOTE TO THE COACHES: IT'S NOT JUST YOUR TEAM.
It must be hard to have it in the back of your minds, "we gotta satisfy our stars." Yeah, we have future NFL wideouts. I understand you think we have a future NFL QB. But you have to remember we play college football on Saturdays. In my opinion, I think you don't want to come to grips with the fact we have a run-dominating offensive line. To bad fellows but it happens. Hard as you try to turn it into something its not, it just happens. This year our run game is superior to our pass game. Running down someone's throat all day long; is just as beautiful as watching a 6ft-5 reciever out jump a little guy. Give up the fantasties.... PLEASE play to win with everyone. Offensive balance is good. But winning with our strengths is better....I LOVE USC FOOTBALL. Don't let us down, with your un-forefilled expectations....Remember when we're only less than three yards from the goal line, mismatches aren't just a 6ft-5 reciever on a little guy, its not the only option "we" have to win.

TrojanHorse said:

It was a 3 step drop that got blocked, how many times has this phrase been said a game.. sheesh, the guy just can't throw over the line, plain simple fact

I was sitting there thinking prior to the play that it would be some kind of roll/option to toss it or take it in if it was there, the last thing I thought was he'd try to throw it over the line in such a short playing field

Patrick said:

Well, you know the old saying about excuses and everyone has one...

yep, OSU played good. Yes, we have alot of younger players. Sure, we caught some bad luck. Bottom line, good teams don't lose to 3-3 Oregon st. That's all their is to say. Ohio st. didn't lose to Minnesota. Michigan didn't lose to Northwestern.

I have been a Trojan fan since about 1978. There are always people who are going to say "stop complaining and be happy". They were there during the Paul Hackett and Larry Smith eras. They were there when we blew it to Notre Dame in 1988. They were there in 1981 when Marcus fumbled it like 4 times and blew the game to Penn St.

Sitting around denying reality and saying "Go USC!" does not help the team. Hey, they were 0-12 in 2000 should we still of supported them? Maybe Petros Papadakis can come back and run for us. Having high expectations for the team is the reason the University hired PC in the first place. To get them back to where they belonged. Leave the "We just lost to Oregon st. but we shouldn't complain" to the Arizona fans. This type of attitude is bad for the USC team, they get that "country club" atmosphere. "Who cares if we win or lose the fans love us!!"

Not for my USC. :))

experience is a great teacher...four turnovers in two games.... JDB is learning the hard way - which is the only way....the bad news is the team lost a game...the good news is that now they know that winning is a lot more fun than losing..."when the student is ready, the teacher will appear" fight on gentlemen .....light up them trees!!!

Evan you nailed it! This offense looked so good when under pressure to produce. Timmy is an idiot! This is a young team! I remember the 90's and the heartaches. This team will continue to improve and contend for another national championship next year. We should be so lucky to have PC and the talented players we now have!

What strange comments! Halloween must be near. USC loses a game by 2-points just missing out on a dramatic comeback and all I read is get rid of Pete Carroll, replace Booty with Sanchez, bring back Norm Chow or Jim Fassel. I think we have a bunch of bandwagoners masquerading as diehard Trojan fans. Yeah, yeah, I know, you've rooted for SC for 20 years, but you've become bandwagoners, spoiled by several years of PAC-10 and National dominance. Well, gentlemen, the bandwagon left about 3PM yesterday, you should have been on it. But now is the time for the Trojan family to come together and hang tough.

You know something, when I read the SC board on Friday and saw all the predictions and then heard the commentators Saturday with their predictions, I just scoffed. No way did I believe SC was ready for a blowout of OSU. I felt they would be lucky to get out of there with a Win. Why? Look at all the So. Cal players on OSU just geared for an upset. They were coming off of two straight road wins and playing at home. Matt Moore had a career day. He made plays that he has never made in four years. I mean with Manning-like perfection. Can we give OSU some credit, puh-lease, and stop calling for the dismantling of the SC coaching staff and benching a very find QB. I can't fathom that some of you actually believe you are trying to "help" with all your dissension. How? Do you actually believe PC doesn't realize what he did wrong? Not only in the game but in practice last week in getting the team prepared to go on the road after a bye week? Do you really think he needs your assessment to get the Trojans back on the winning track? Give me a break!

Oh, and one more thing, to Patrick who said that SC hired PC to get them back to where they belong, and having high expectations, then how come Garrett offered the job to Mike Riley? Riley accepted but the Chargers refused to let him out of his contract. PC was Garrett's LAST choice. And we're lucky we got him. If the score had been reversed and we were up 33-10, do you think Riley would have rallied OSU back to within striking distance? I think you know the answer. Fight on, PC! Fight on, Trojans.

Thanks for your comments, Scott

Felipe,

"We have a 6'5" stallion on the bench."

Who? Mark Sanchez is 6'3", just like John David Booty. All you crybabies want to get your Orange County QB in there.

Also, where was the second interception? Did he throw one in warmups? And, the INT was DJ's fault for being lazy; not JDB's.

Felipe said:

Hey my good friend PH55 is back at it.
Anyway, my mistake Mark Sanchez is 6 foot 4 not counting the hair!
I could care less if Sanchez is an Orange County QB! Booty still sucks! The INT was Booty's fault because it should have been thrown over DJ's shoulder where the defender has no chance to get it. Instead it was underthrown to where it was up for grabs.

Alan said:

I went to USC for over 10 years, starting with Rodney Peete, and ending with Carson Palmer.

I will always be a Trojan. I have to agree: Booty is not really going to get us there. No offenses to him. Just calling it as I see it.

About Inside USC

Scott Wolf has covered USC for the Daily News since 1996. A USC graduate, he covered his first Trojan game in 1984 for the Daily Trojan. Scott is known as the "scourge of the Internet message boards," according to radio host Petros Papadakis. Despite this moniker, there's no truth to the rumor he takes pleasure in antagonizing the "Internet geeks."
