Cushing Update

Time to check in with sophomore linebacker Brian Cushing, who switched defensive end this season and has 26 tackles, which is the third-best mark on the team.
``All I know right now is I'm just trying to get on the field, but the change is not a real big deal,'' he said. ``I kind of like this position right. It's kind of natural. We'll see what happens next year. I really had no idea I would play this position before the season. So I might gain 5-10 pounds if I stay here.''

I was harder on Cushing than anybody but he has played well in this new role, still out of position sometimes but he has played very well. Dallas has been the disappointment on the defensive front seven. Anybody else think that it might be time to move Brian back to LB and go back to a 4-3? If Rey can take Oscar’s position why can’t Brian take Dallas’s spot? Brian is not a true pass rusher and we need to get pressure on the QB and going back to 4-3 would get another pass rusher in there. I have always like Dallas but has his name even been called the past few weeks? He just hasn’t seemed to recover from that injury and it is showing on the field.

I totally agree - Cush and Rey at LB would be the best thing since ... 21 and 5 in the backfield.

I actually think Cush might have more talent than Rey.

Whatever happened to Jeff Schweiger?

Any reason to think Sartz could have more success at DE? I don't see why they can't give it a shot - switch up the two in practice and see how they respond. I'd hate to lose Sartz on the field (though maybe he'll never get back to his old success)
