Discuss The Game
Post your thoughts on today's game:
Here's a couple thoughts: Turnovers, tipped passes, special teams, playcalling, undisciplined, an opponent without its best tailback. A lot of problems throughout the season came home to roost today.
``How do you go a month without getting a turnover?'' USC coach Pete Carroll said. ``That's what it feels like.''

Clearly Booty has talent. From what we've been seeing, it appears he's been choked by the play calling up to now. We need a real OC.
Fire Lame Stiffin, please!
The Fake Dynasty is Officially OVER--lol, see you guys at the Google.com Search Bowl'.lmao
terrifying.
Ah, just as it seems SC has momentum and can win, or possibly catch up, JDB goes back to his old ways!
USC - 5:51
1st-10, USC25 5:51 J. Booty incomplete pass to the left
2nd-10, USC24 5:31 J. Booty incomplete pass to the left
3rd-10, USC24 5:27 J. Booty incomplete pass to the right
Booty sucks! I don't know who sucks more, Booty, Kiffin, Carroll, Holt, etc. al.
How much does Jarrett suck? He misses more balls than ANYBODY!
BTW, BMW was a hell lot better as a sophmore than DJ was as a sophmore or this year as a junior. Don't bring up "he's been injured" crap, either. His hands are like Corey Maggette of the Clippers, aka "stone hands".
Cya losers in the Vegas Bowl, Insight Bowl, or wherever!
Hey guys, don't cry, OK?
I've been saying this since after the Arizona game. We were headed to the Las Vegas Bowl.
All you homers then said, "yea, right, we're going to the Rose Bowl at worst. Or if we lose to Oregon and Cal, then it would be Holiday."
Well newsflash dudes, we just saved Mike Riley's job. PATHETIC!!!
Las Vegas Bowl, anyone? WHEN, not IF, we lose to Oregon and Cal, would we be set up for the Vegas Bowl? Let's say Cal goes to Rose, then Oregon to Holiday, and SC to Vegas?
From dynasty to Las Vegas Bowl...very similiar to the Vegas Bowl in 2002 vs. Utah, right Pete? I was there, and met some nice women from Utah! Hopefully, the team we play in the Vegas Bowl in December has hott female fans/co-eds!
It is no wonder why Pete Carroll was fired from the NFL...he's the consummate nice guy. Nice guy hires friend's son, friend's son goes on to lose games and counting (Rose, this afternnon, 3 games in November, etc.).
More to come from me, since these are my last days here!
Oh crap, you guys still have a chance!
Stay tuned...
HAAHAHA!!!!
LMAO @ USC!!!
come to the rose bowl and you will lose punks!
Bruins #1!!!
HAHA!!
How fitting. Booty's 2pt conversion pass attempt was BATTED DOWN! Sure haven't seen that before have we?
gillyking@yahoo.com
Alas, once again, the game comes down to Kiffin's hands.
Remember, 4th and 2?? In the Rose Bowl vs. UT?
It is another play for 2 yards, this time for the tie.
And what does Kiffin call? A play to a cold receiver, a BUST, a lost player on the field! Why not go to Steve Smith, the best and hottest receiver on the team?
You TRULY SUX Kiffin! Get out, man!
2nd-2, ORST2 0:12 J. Booty passed to S. Smith to the right for 2 yard touchdown.
*2pt attempt failed, J. Booty pass to D. Jarrett
GAME OVER, thanks Lame Stiffin!
Thank you Monte Kiffin, for creating Lane Kiffin, as well as befriending Pete Carroll!
The Trojans now suck, thanks mainly to your son. I have been trolling the WeareSC message board, OMG...it is crazy there!
Things like "Fire Pete, Fire Kiffin, Bench Booty, We need an Orange County QB, We suck, Props to the Beavers"
I mean, you guys are losers or homers or something?
Vote for the NFL plan in Los Angeles, there is only room in this town for 1 college football team, and USC it is not!
Down with the Trojan Dynasty, and ALL HAIL KARL DORRELL!!!
UCLA> University of Sucky Coaches
LMAO @ all of you
Chirp! Chirp!
Good run but...It cant last forever... TRUST ME I know. Way to fight back though, hell of a 4th quarter. Good luck with the rest of the season and bowl.
Boomer Sooner
Best Thing for This Particular Team Was Losing.
I know it sounds stupid, but this team doesn't play with urgency, they don't play with toughness and today they were forced to and made a great comeback. It will serve them well rest of year and it will provide a valuable lesson.
As for the last play--it was beyond ignorant. Why do you go to the WR who has NO CHEMISTRY with your QB with game on the line?? Jarrett is playing at a level that demands for him to be benched--not given more opportunities. I'd bench the kid for the start of next game and until he decides he wants to play football at the level demanded at this level he should NOT PLAY. Disgusting effort from him and if this is how he'll play, rather see him leave for NFL and move on with players who care about USC.
John David Booty won me over. I am not going to doubt him anymore. He made a bad OC look good today with great play and accuracy. I saw him look one way and throw another which didn't happen before. I saw him use pump fakes to fool safeties. He will come out swinging from now on.
Chauncey Washington needs to be benched so he can refocus... he's thinking about impressing scout and not worring about helping Trojans win games..let's go with freshman Moody.
Boise St 42 Oregon St 14 LMAO!!!!
Cal 41 OSU 13!!! LMAO
i am so pissed i blame pete carrol. although i love pete caroll and he is god, but you have to blame him, too many turn overs, we had it, 4 turnovers for 9 points and a blown punt return, inexcusable. I know i will get heat for this but this is not acceptable, we sucked, we turned the ball over and then we can't make a drive except with desperation, i can't believe it.
I am so mad i feel like a freaking ruin losing to nd, i can't express my anger right now. dont' call me a band wagoner cause i've been here with paul hacket and i'm just happy to watch the team play but this was totally inexcusable. what do you guys have to say about this?
very little pash rush, we gave matt more so much time, they coverted on 3rd and long on too many times, why don't we play a man blitz d converge, wha do you guys think? it's the replay of 2000 game, i'm so pissed,
BENCH JARRETT--that Kid doesn't Deserve to Play Right Now
Giving half ass effort and not playing to a standard that is demanded of a top WR. If this is what he's going to play like--and he'd done this in EVERY game minus the Nebraska game where ball was forced to him--he should be forced to earn his time on the field.
If you throw the ball to Smith on last play--you tie the game. That kid has been MONEY and instead Jarrett gets look and he'd not have caught it anyway--he was covered and didn't sell the route at all--just tried to "out position" the DB instead of running a route well. GARBAGE from a kid who has much more talent then he's shown this year.
I miss the good ol' BMW days...
Booty: Played well, put the team in position to win
RB's: Horrible, need ball security lessons
Steve Smith: Best Player in Game and Team period
rest of WR's: Bad
Defense: Overrated and Rebuilding
Coaching: D-, Kiffin should not call another play as a Trojan
Wayne Rooney is back! What a great start to the season! Go Red Devils!
Scott, I am currently thinking what to do with the boats of money I have just won!
So I will post a more constuctive, opinionated, and elaborate post later on!
Since my stint here on your blog is almost finished (Why follow a crappy team?), I want to make a good last impression, unforgettable for all these USC homers!
Furthermore, before I forget, YOU ARE A GENIUS!!!
People bash you for putting WVU #1!
Well, guess what? WVU will move up to #3 in the BCS, and once they win out, they will be in Glendale! Brilliant of you, Scott, to say the least!
In Glendale, it will be OU/UM vs. WVU for the national title!
Dude, you are seriously befuddling the minds of all these people around the country, I presume. I mean, you had WVU #1 all year, got bashed around the country, got bashed in your place of So Cal, online at Mzone by Michigan homers, and got bashed on your own blog!
Well, look who's sitting pretty now? You are the man! As I told my friend today, and I will tell you, "YOU DA MAN!"
Hell, I am now a true Scott Wolf believer, and you will prove everyone in the country wrong when WVU takes the title in Glendale.
Major props go to you, Scott!
RIP Trojan Dynasty. The wheels have finally fallen off!
Snoop? where u at? lol
Kind of makes following recruiting feel a bit irrelevant
when your team of 5 stars gets beaten by a bunch of 2 stars. Who cares if we get Marvin Austin or Everson Griffen if they're just going to be shut down by some Walk-on quality offfensive lineman. We're so worried about which all-americans we're going to sign, but they're getting out played by kids who were lucky to make honorable mention CIF.
Thanks for F'ing up our strength of schedule!
PASSING FOR 2 PTS. WHEN WE HAVE A QUARTERACK WHO IS MAYBE O.K. IS NOT TO SMART WHEN JUST GOT 2 PTS. RUNNING IT. THINK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Turnovers killed us today (-4). We have to get back on the positive side of the turnover ratio.
The fact is that this is an average team that has had a little luck and won some games that it shouldn't have. Look for a .500 year. There are more losses to come. There isn't much that can be done to prevent it. Next year sould be better. I ,for one, hope Redcorn's predictions hold true. Who wouldn't want Vegas around X-mas time?
Kiffin + Sark + Pete's O conservatism unmasked....
oh, so we need to be DOWN BY 20 before you'll finally let us see what our offense is capable of?
This is the main point of this loss. Carroll can blame it on the turnovers, and lack of execution on the final play all he likes, but we now KNOW our offense has been capable of MUCH MUCH more....all year....but has been only held back by playcalling decisions, period. This was proven today, no doubt.
The Rose Bowl is not such a bad goal, and we would've dropped one eventually anyway, now knowing that our O was hamstrung by coaching. Now the shackles will be off, so I really think we have a TRUE shot at our traditional bowl.
FIGHT ON!
What happened to our running game? I guess Chauncey Washington is not the answer that we thought. Time to open it up again. The great thing about LenDale White is that he never fumbled unassisted.
Bring vaseline. You're gonna need it.
You loosened us up last time. It's our turn.
My points:
1. I'm glad Redcorn is gone and we don't have to worry about him and the band wagon anymore. They can all catch the first flight to Columbus.
2. Kiffin was right in Jarrett taking plays off. His lack of effort on the interception was a ten point swing for OSU. He should have brought that ball in or at least knocked it down. And he should have made that catch where we settled for the field goal. Either one makes the difference.
3. I see how Chauncey was ineligible for two years. Dude, concentrate on what you are doing and hold onto the damn football.
4. Booty proved himself. Great job bringing us back. Fumble was bad but not all his fault. Interception I blame wholly on DJ. He made great reads and great audibles. The first TD to Steve Smith was a great change as was running with Chauncey on the two point conversion.
5. Kiffin needs to open up the playbook (like we were forced to in the second half) and we need more over the middle near the goal line. Would have liked to see a quick slant or TE drag on the last conversion attempt.
6. Secondary is awful. I have no faith in our secondary making a key play this year. And I don't know what the solution is.
7. The season is not over. We are still in the driver's seat for the Rose Bowl since to get there we would have to beat Oregon (2 losses then) Cal (two losses with ea having 1 in conference) and UCLA. And if hell freezes over still a shot at National Championship but that is most likely gone. (Which we anticipated before the start of the season.)
8. Congratulation Matt Moore. He played a great game and carried the Beavers on his shoulders with the running back out. Way to represent the SCV Matt!
Well, beat the Farm!
Let's try to keep this positive, and realistic. This team is in trouble. Cal and ND are going to the toughest games for SC from a matchup standpoint in 5 years(excluding Texas). There have been so many injuries this year that you just can't expect to keep plugging guys in. Also, no Matt, Reggie, or Lendale is not an excuse anymore, these guys need to start making plays. Some of these are obvious, but it will give us all something to talk about.
1- Nick Holt is not a d-coordinator (not a head coach either, ask an Idaho fan). Lay off Kiffin and look at the other side of the ball, too. I realize there were a million turnovers by SC, but this has been a pattern all season long.
2- Offense will not attempt to find identity. Did anyone else notice that when in hurry up USC couldn't be stopped.Step on the throttle. Try that from start to finish. You have the athletes, on offense and defense.
3-Could be youth or inexperience, but Db's can't play the ball in the air. Get aggressive, stop playing zone.
4- Oscar Lua needs to be on the field, as does Maivia (spelling).
5-Throw deep more, throw short less. Let's face it, all involved are more effective when the ball is going downfield. If I have to see another one of those little wide receiver slip screens I think I will be sick. That play is proven ineffective, please stop running it.
6- Kick and punt coverage is getting almost as poor as last year, you just hold your breath.
7- NO POLAMALU or TATUPU. The days of plus 21 turnover differentials are OVER. THis is the most important point in my mind. This team needs turnovers. Any turnovers.
A loss to the Beavers is just what we needed. Maybe this will prompt the team into inspired football.
Frankly we looked horrible.
Changes are needed.
why would you not run for 2 pts. when you just converted 2pts.
horrible
I'm not sure what I'm more disappointed in, Booty still getting passes deflected (at the worst POSSIBLE moment) or Lane Kiffin's love affair with fade passes in the end zone, which in my opinion cost SC 2 touchdowns and the critical 2pt conversion.
Typical cowardly Kiffin...Booty wasn't going to do it. Give it to Washington. I hope all the "postive" talk about the defense is re-evaluated...they are not very good.
Ive been saying it all season. The 2006 team sucks!!!!!
FO to all you 'zoons nay-sayers. Ha Ha Ha. I told you losers!
Learn to watch a game without your C&G glasses and maybe you will see this team for what it really is.
Its time to look for the next, next big thing. That, or get Chow, Ed O, Davis, C Smith, and a Special Teams coach to come back and make Pete look like a miracle worker again.
Here is the best part you dont want to hear: More losses are on the way. Deal with it!
Booty once again comes up short
That's what happens when you have a midget at QB.
we are an average team, that finally got exposed. This was coming!
I saw the second half of the game. Trojans down by 6 at the half was bad enough. I kinda figured the offense was not playing well. But, to come out of the second half and lay an egg. WTF??!!
Saw some things during the "comeback" that you don't normally see during normal playcalling. Kiffin/Sark/Booty called a lot of plays in the middle instead of just throwing fade routes like SC has been doing this year. Then after SC got the ball back with 6 minutes remaining and still down by 8, they (Kiffin/Sark/ maybe Booty) decide to go back to the outside, when all the success was in the middle and long.
I still respect what Pete Carroll has done for this university and will not bad mouth him. But, we as the Trojan faithful have to admit that the playcalling (not the young men on the field) has been atrocious this year and mediocre last year (luckily Matt and the 2005 team were veterans by the time the offensive playcalling reins were handed to Sarkiffin). I think the players are playing hard and can win every game they play (in part because Pete C. has recruited so well). But, the playcalling, offensive and defensive has been under par for the Pete Carroll ere.
BTW, why doesn't the defense blitz more. I remember when Pete was defensive coordinator the corners and safeties blitzed a lot more and made the QB make bad decisions. It looks like this year the D drops back 7 guys and then the QB gets all day to find a receiver. C'mon Nick Holt, friggin put more pressure on the QB. IF there isn't enough pressure with 4 men rushing then add a LB, corner or safety blitz.
In Pete we trust. Fight On! Beat the Cardinal, Ducks, Bears, domers, and FUCLA!
BOOTY HAD GOOD DRIVES, BUT IT ULTIMATELY CAME DOWN TO HIS TURNOVERS AND HIS INABILITY TO EXECUTE THE LAST PLAY
AND, HE'S ALSO TOO SHORT!
Pete was out coached once again. Beaten by a team with 0 5-star players and 2 4-star players on their roster (SC has 15 5-star and 42 4-star players). How many passes thrown to DJ? How many not caught? Why play a player that's hurt, can't catch the ball, and can't even get off the jam? Steve Smith warranted the 2 pt conversion pass. After last year's debacle with special teams, why is Sam Anno still on staff? Every kickoff that VanBlarcom doesn't put out of the end zone is nearly returned straight up the gut for a TD. Video boys still don't get it with the play calling.
SC may practice hard and fast, but the other team today seemed like they were the ones that wanted to hit.
SC sucked! What an embarrassment. Can you say 7-5? The glass is cracked and leaking a toxic splooge.
I dont care what anyone says, including the coaches,Booty telegraphs his passes....every....single...time....he...drops....back.
I'm not an expert, so I'm not going to say that he does not go thru his progressions. Maybe he has freakish peripheral vision and is able to do it without turning his head...at all. It does not *appear* to me that he does go thru his progressions. When he drops back, again...every time, his head is locked in one direction, the direction to which he ultimately throws the ball. This is *exactly* why the OSU D-back was able to step in fron to of Jarrett in the endzone in the 1st qtr. It seems he *never* "looks off" a receiver.
Oh...by the way...he also telegraphs the snap. When the ball is about to be snapped, he crouches down an additional 6 inches or so.
Also...he has no "touch". He throws a bullet pass in nearly every situation. On a 10 yard dump in the flat to a back or a TE...the receiver has no time to react, on the deep route the ball is overthrown.
I'm not calling for his head....but it seems that telegraphing your passes and staring down the receiver that you're gonna throw to are fundamental flaws that need to be corrected....and fast.
I guess we'll have to settle for the Rose Bowl. Yeah, Cal, that means you're getting your ass kicked 3 in weeks. Just stay overconfident.
Alright, I can't stand up too much for the Trojans after today's game but I will say that a lot of people are calling for Booty's head even after he threw for 400 yards today. Granted, he had 2 turnovers, both of which were costly. But he did not lose this game. There were 2 more turnovers, and the defense gave up 33 points. USC put up 30+, which we haven't seen in a while, and that last drive to come within 2 was absolutely epic. Of course, they never should have been down in the first place, but it's not like we gave Booty the ball with a minute left and he immediately crapped his pants. There were a lot of reasons USC lost this game - turnovers, poor playcalling, and poor defense among them. And yes, Booty had his 2pc attempt batted down at the line.
As for these claims that he is too short...huh? He's 6'3". He's only 2 inches shorter than Matt Leinart, and 5 inches taller than Doug Flutie, who managed to make a pretty good career out of being a little guy. The problem is not his height, it's his release. Someone noted earlier in this thread that he has no touch and every pass is a bullet. Well, the harder the throw, the lower the release point. That 2pc didn't fail because Booty is too short. It failed because the lineman jumped at the right time. It's Booty's fault for throwing that pass in the first place, but it has nothing to do with his height.
Long story short, Booty came through (for the most part) in the second half...lay off the guy.
The only positive thing about this is maybe the bandwagoners will jump off.
Please exit at the rear.
Godda love the Bruin trolls. Hey, Bruins congrads for that historic win at South Bend ... Oh yeah, how did that work out for you?
Now this team has a chance to become what it will become this year....no more comparison to last year and ML and LW and RB.....let it go media and let these kids become their own legend, win, lose or draw. FIGHT ON!
The biggest bitch about this game is that nobody on Oregon State would start for USC, except for Joe Newton TE, and the Beavs don't use him nearly as much as they should.
TROJAN WALK - 2HR BEFORE KICKOFF AT PERISTYLE
THIS IS WHERE THE TEAM AND STAFF WALKS IN. VOICE YOUR OPINIONS. GET IN THEIR FACES AND LET THEM HEAR YOU. I KNOW I WILL
I HAVE A 500 ORDER OF TSHIRTS COMING IN
CARDINAL SHIRTS GOLD PRINT
FRONT: KIFFIN SUCKS
BACK: WE WANT SANCHEZ
THE TSHIRTS WILL BE FREE
AND WILL BE GIVEN OUT RIGHT BEFORE TROJAN WALK 11/11.
Turnovers and that special teams collapse cost the game. What really hurt was that the fumbles were due less to OSU and more to a lack of concentration. The offense looked better in the second half, and I'm thankful that the slant pass magically reappeared in SC's repetoire. I'm waiting for the return of the shuffle pass and the interior screens that were common (maybe a bit too common) a couple of years ago, but which are now rarely used. I wouldn't knock the defense too much, although I'm no fan of the zone pass defense that SC employs (it's way too soft). Someone mentioned a lack of pressure, but I thought the D did better in that category; indeed, it got 6 or so sacks. What killed it was the field position that OSU had because of turnovers. I was hoping the team could go undefeated, but I didn't think that was probable considering some of the growing pains. Next year should be the target (then again, most of the tough games will be on the road).
Fight On!
seems that all the far weather sc fans here are mad cause we lost news flash where were you when we lost to cal 3 years ago probably on the ohio state band wagon we dont have reggie or matt they are gone we have the best young talent out of high school playing against guys who have played at the next level for awhile its a good reality check and hopefully the boys get it together and have a good run to win the pac-10 the coaches did a good job tonight its not there fault chauncey fumbled when the invisible guy hit him, pete and nick had a good scheme just look at the field goals we held them too they started in our zone its not the end of the dynasty its just back to good solid wins our 13-0 season was something we might not see for a while but i know we will see another national championship so for all the unfaithful fans go buy all your cal stuff and dont try coming back when you see booty with that rose bowl trophy and who nows with blow out wins the next 4 games better be booking tickets to arizona cause remember we do have a strong schedule
Gee, "Sanchez is King", way to support the program.
If I were a recruit, or player, I would just love seeing idiots like you wearing your stupid t-shirt at the Trojan walk.
There really are some very imbalanced fans.
And you, "Sabchez is King" are a very, very distrubed and pathetic individual.
every RB usc has played has faltered in a way, i feel it is time to give Stafon a crack
JDB did a very commendable job. Playcalling, and I think D coordinating, need some help. PC used to D coordinate. Then we had lots of second half adjustments. On both sides of ball. Where are they now? Plus, NO concentration from Washington. Contrary to others I think DJ played a very good game today. Just too many sideline passes, not enough down the middle. Where do you wind up on the sideline passes? With your foot out of bounds, and nowhere to run.
Hang in there fans. This team needed this bucket of cold water in their faces to realize that 5 stars from high school do not a college star, or winning team make. Hunker down - the best is yet to come. Remember the Cal 3 point loss a couple of years back? Keep the faith, and practice, practice.
We may have sucked... but the bRuins were worse. Go away bRuin trolls; your team got ass beat by WSU.
Enjoy!
I agree Shine, the t-shirts are terrible. Get a life Sanchez; or get a grip. The best player on every single team is the back up quarterback. I am a Trojan living in Oregon and last week the Beaver fans were all in favor of putting in the back up guy with signs and shirts. Moore was hurt briefly and the back up was intercepted, and not ready. Booty isn't Leinart. Sanchez isn't ready. You simply can't win every game. As PC says, we have a target on our back every week.
Four guys standing around a trashcan fire swigging Thunderbird, break into song...
Redcorn: "Oh happy day"
Chorus: "OH HAPPY DAY"
Eftzoons: "Oh happy day"
Chorus: "OH HAPPY DAY"
Miguelito: "The Trojans lost"
Chorus: "THE TROJANS LOST"
Scott Wolf: "All their hopes away"
Chorus: "ALL THEIR HOPES AWAY"
Redcorn: "I am so DONE with this team. Schlichter was right. I should jump on Ohio States BANDWAGON! Afterall, look how well Art's life has turned out"
Eftzoons: "Now Now Johnny. I told you over and over...THE 2006 TROJANS SUCK! (Lather, rinse, repeat) THE 2006 TROJANS SUCK!"
Miguelito: "Uuuuuu Shteeee Al Ay!" "Es sthee sthucks"
Scott Wolf: "My sources, high up in the USC administration say, not only should Pete Caroll be fired, but drawn and quartered as well. And it should be retroactive to the days of those meanies, Matt and Reggie."
FIGHT ON !
TO Sanchez is King:
Are you the same idiot that made the "Make a Booty Call" shirt back in 03 and wanted Leinart down.
Its a loss, deal with it.
To John Redcorn:
Once again, if we finish third we don't go to the Vegas Bowl. 1st Place = Rose; 2nd = Holiday; 3rd = Sun Bowl.
So you were at the 2002 Vegas Bowl and saw a lot of hot girls from Utah? Quite amazing since that year saw UCLA beat New Mexico 27-13.
We need things put in proper prospective. Where are you Stephanie?
Kiffin's play calling is horrible.
Booty is under throwing his recievers and not hitting them in stride.
The special teams are over playing the coverage.
The defense is young and soft. I'm tired of them playing off the reciever and then trying to knock them down. how about wrapping them up and tackling.
We showed a ton of weakness today.
Pete needs to hold everyone accountable.
Hey, where'd all the 'Ruin trolls go? LOL.
Keep your spirits up, Trojans. This week of practice will be a good one, and we will find a way to grow and improve.
It was a trully disappointing first 3 quarters. TOs everywhere, un-"special teams" mistakes, horrible playcalling. The only good thing about this game was that they tried to come back. It's very difficult to win every game because of the competition. That's why a lot of teams load up on pansies in order to concentrate on their in-conference games.
This loss is a critical for this team. It is their defining moment. Will it propel this team to winning and playing hard or to losing? Think about the loss to Cal in 2003 and what that team did after that. This team needs an identity, and at the 4th quarter- it seemed like they finally found it. Pass judgement on the team at the end of the season. Maybe, just maybe we'll see another multi-year year run.
Fight on!
To all of you westwood college fools- FUCLA got drubbed for 22 points by WSU? No fight in the Bruins? At least the trojans fought back.
Best game that USC has played this year for a half. As much as I hate losing, I think this will make USC's team better. They finally showed that they can move the ball at will in the second half. And this was not Lane Kiffins fault.
The players have to make plays and we have been winning in the past few years because we didn't fumble and we didn't throw a bunch of interceptions especially near our own end zone.
A couple of interesting plays to me #1 Dwayne Jarrett's catch three yards from the sideline where the defender basically carries the guy over to the sideline and throws him out of bounds. I understand that the rule is that you can push the guy out of bounds so from now on lets have our defenders just catch the receiver in the air, other defenders come over and help carry him to the sideline to throw him out of bounds. #2 Going to DJ on the last play everybody knew they would and they were prepared for that, however unlike the first 2 point conversion where the defense spread out to protect against the pass the OSU defense had everybody in the box to stop the run so I don't think the run would have been successful unless it was Student Body Left/or right.
The loss for this game is clearly on the players. Lack of execution not play calling cost this game. You have 4, or 5 turnovers and flop like fish in the ocean when the punt returner runs by you are not getting it done on the field. I do agree with one commentor in that I would like to see Stafon Johnson at least touch the ball once as a running back, it seems that everybody else has let's check him out. Now USC should be ready to step up and start playing like we did last year. Oh Yeah and get out of that zone in the secondary and play the durn ball they are just running to the holes in the secondary and waiting for the ball and our guys just watch it go by, an interception is a turnover and there are multiple oppurtunities out there lets' get it done and Fight ON Trojans!
P.S. If we win out we will be in perfect position to go to the BCS National Championship game we have the toughest schedule because we didn't play any Non-Conference Pansies.
It would take a perfect storm for USC to get beat and it happened...four turnovers in a hostile environment. I was throwing in the towel on Booty when he tried to get the ball to Jarett in triple coverage in the third quarter. However, the comeback proved to me that he has the guts and talent to lead this team to a national championship (maybe even this year).
If we win out, the computers will love us as all the pundits have noted. Notre Dame is a pretender so I am not worried about them. Cal and Oregon have had their warts exposed (as USC) so it will be interesting.
Do you(to those of you that applies to) need to use vulgar language to make a point or voice a disagreement? How about showing some class and that you are college educated? Please?
Thank you
Okay, everyone calm down. Let's face it, this is a rebuilding year. Every program has them from time to time. They have a new defensive coach, very young starting players in most positions, an all new backfield, and basically no fullback. Did you really think they were going to go undeafeated? Everyone says "well in 2003 they got a new quarterback and won the National Championship." Yep, but they also had an excellent defense with probably the best defensive line ever at USC. This year they are rebuilding both the offense and defense. They probably will lose a couple of more games. The key will be -- are they learning and growing. This loss was hard but you have to give them credit for a terrific comeback in the 4th quarter when it appeared all was lost. The time to contend for the National Championship is next year, not this year so keep your shorts on!
Still too many passes to DJ. SS gets it down the field and then passes start going to DJ. He is covered like a blanket (all day). Passes to DJ must have pin point accuracy. Find another receiver on a passing third down. We are fooling no one. I would have went with CW on the two(2) point conversion. If we were on the 50 yard line, maybe I go with SS. I really think the odds were better with the run. DJ was covered on the two(2) point conversion anyway. Again like a blanket. Booty's next progression is to start finding secondary receivers. When he accomplishes this, get ready for a 500+ yard passing game. And we he starts to learn how to audible and get LAME of his back we begin to score at will. The opponents will start to press and the turnovers will come. We got us a QB. Fight ON! Jay#42...out.
Why are Bruins posting to this? It's like someone from skid row laughing at a billionaire who just lost a few thousand dollars.
Unbelievable.

Too many turnovers!
Nice comeback though!
Too bad it was not enough!
Hey Bruin posters: get a life. It's like someone on skid row laughing about a billionaire losing a thousand dollars.
I agree for the most part with Rob of Troy: it's a learning season for a lot of undeveloped players.
But what is just plain scary is the lack of fire...the kind of fire that the Beavers had. You can't win the big ones without it. You may squeak by the Oregon States and Stanfords of the world (....oh wait, they didn't get by OS?... here's your chance Stanford) but you'll get you ass handed to you by Cal or Oregon. You'll end up like Charlie and the Irish in this year's Michigan game.
The only "attitude" I've seen coming out of Troy is one of over self-appraisal: an unearned overconfidence. Hopefully this loss to a deserving Oregon State team will reveal this misjudgement to these players like a punch in the mouth. I wonder though, with some of the comments coming from LoJack.
So go ahead, put Sanchez in there, that'll fix the problems...right. The fact is that while Sanchez is a great QB, this team needs the confidence and experience of JDB. Booty may have his share of faults, but poor leadership, immaturity and inexperience are not among them.
I'm looking for close games the rest of the season. This has been the pattern established in game 2 vs Nebraska. With tough competition coming up, I can't see too much of a change in the forecast.
But as for the doom-and-gloomers, rest assured the Trojans WILL be in every game they play. So the bandwangon and faint of heart fans might as well not even tune in- the rest of the season is for the faithful.
