Future Starters
Offensive line coach Pat Ruel said redshirt freshman Charles Brown and true freshman Butch Lewis will both start at USC.
''They have quick feet and are athletic, so it won't be a stretch for either one of them,'' Ruel said. ''I expect both of them too.''

Did he say, ''I expect both of them too,'' or ''I expect both of them to,'' or ''I expect both of them two?'' National championships hang on such questions. Kinda like "Rosebud," eh?
Brown is a converted TE and Butch is a true Frosh...they will be starting?? When? in 2008 I hope...Our OL is going down hill....Add on Mr. Underachiever Thomas Herring and "I have no experience" Matt Spanos and we are in trouble..
I hope one of them is ready to go in a month or so to replace the weakest link of the line which is Kyle Williams
Wolfie, did you mean now or in the near future? And who will replace Kyle Williams at RT if he can't go up in Corvallis? I like #77, Thomas Herring.
I stand corrected Butch Lewis was a DL in high school...another converted player...like Garrett Green at Safety. haha...next Troy Van Blarcom will be playing WR...we getting near rock bottom they better win these next 4 games...
Patrick-you know little about USC so you might want to step away from the keyboard.
Butch Lewis was an ol/dl in high school. Everyone who saw him play saw him as an olineman and a great one at that. Lanny Julias, one of the most highly respected judges of talent raved about Butch's ability to play otackle. He is 6 6 300 pounds with great feet and long arms, which is key to the oline position. He is a prototype, play on sundays tackle. He came to USC as a rivals 100 player and wanted to start on defense. PC's philosophy is that he will let any kid try to play his preferred position. He did, but was quickly moved to otackle before the season even started.
Thomas Herring, whom you also know nothing about has been thru the following. He lost both his parents this past year, hurt his ankle running from gunshots, and was literally living in a garage for a few months after his parents passed away. He had hip surgery as a result of the injury this past year and is now back to playing. He is a REDSHIRT FRESHMAN, so how you could refer to him as a bust or over rated is just plain stupid. He has been playing guard this past week not tackle because of how well Lewis and Brown have looked. Plus USC has premier tackles coming in the next 2 classes in Martin Coleman and Matt Kalil. Simply put USC is stacked in the oline position.
Matt Spanos didnot make the team this year due to academic reasons so why you are ragging on his ability to play is just plain stupid, since he is not with the team.
Williams has graded out very well in film sessions so once again you do not know what you are talking about. If there is a weak link on the line, he is not it.
Charles Brown simply is an amazing athlete. He is not a converted TE just cause he played the position in high school. He arrived at USC weighing 250 pounds, but has a massive frame. Brown is up to 300 pounds and is still lean and fast and has jaw dropping athleticism. He also has uniquely long arms, the wing span of a 7 footer, which makes him perfect for Otackle.
Seriously, you know nothing about what is going on at USC and their oline depth in the program is thebest in the nation.
Thanks for the info Free Kobe...you obviously know more than I do.
I am sure they will both do fine. :o))
Free Kobe:
You don't know how good that post makes me feel. Thanks for the full report and keep them coming when you read what you know to be nonsense.
Although I take offense at the "You know Nothing" comment...let's see
I know Taylor Mays wants to play offense next year, I know everyone and their backup at each position by name..I know the entire coaching staff, I know all the recruits by name we have committed so far, I know S.Johnson came into USC wearing shirts with pictues of himself and was expecting to start and take Reggie Bush's spot until PC got mad, I know E. Moody' YPC is 6.7, I know R. Goodrum and how is back is messed up and me may never play football again, I know B. Cusing is from New Jersey, I know A. Bradford said he liked playing defense better than FB I know our D line should be great in the future with Walker Lee Ashley and Averill Spicer I know Brandon Hancock says he is coming back for the bowl game to play. I know Al Everest was supposed to come in and coach special teams but he couldn't get registered as a grad student so he couldn't, I know ...You must be like one of those 15 year old kids that posts on here. Or a rude person..2 of the main reasons I am not posting anymore. :o))
Actually Patrick,
If I am the reason you are not posting anymore, then I have done the board some good.
Stafon Johnson-did not piss PC off by wearing a shirt with a picture of himself. He pissed off PC cause he did not go all out at practice, which is not what USC is all about. He also got a D in his philosophy class which got him further in the dog house.
You bagged on Garrett Green as a safety. Did you know he was one of the fastest kids in state last year according to his track times?
YOu know Taylor Mays wants to play offense next year? Yes, he said he would like to try a few plays, but still wants to be the starting free safety next year. Think of him as being interested in a Deion or Woodson type role.
Bradford actually wants to be a tailback not a safety or fullback.
Dline will be better if future holds Marvin Austin and DaJohn Harris as well as Eversen Griffen. DO you know those guys cause all of them are better than Ashley. Do you know who Parsons and Simmons are? YOu might want to.
What you actually know versus what you claim to know is as wide a chasm as Charles Barkeley driving the ball against Tiger Woods. YOu came on here touting the line's deficiencies and were proven you have no clue what is going on?
Tell us who Michael Reardon, Kris O Dowd, James Wilson, and martin Coleman are?
