More Kiffin
It seemed strange that after 11 straight running plays that got USC down to the Arizona State 5-yard line on its game-winning drive, the Trojans would then throw two passes to little-used fullback Jody Adewale.
But offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin said neither play was specifically designed for Adewale.
``The first time he's waiting for Dwayne and then goes to his second option,'' Kiffin said. ``The other is a hot throw.''

It seemed strange that after 11 straight running plays that got USC down to the Arizona State 5-yard line on its game-winning drive, the Trojans would then a pass! The game was clearly in Chancy Washington's hand and the SC Offensive Coordinators almost blew it. The coaches keep telling us that Matt Leinart & Reggie Bush are gone but they are calling play as if they are still at SC. Why is it taking so long to call a play? John David Booty is an average quarterback. USC needs to run the football more often if they are going to be successful.
Kiffen needs to go.
Kiffin should STFU!
That's remind me of the nc game against TX. when they were running good to burn the clock, they called a pass play which turned incomplete and stopped the clock. That's exactly the same happened on saturday when the offense had to pass after running really good. why not just punch in and burn more time? i guess Kiffin was going to make a "surprise" play at the goal line.
I miss Norm Chow....enough said.
alan bradford started the game with a touchdown reception; it looked like Pete was right, there must be a spot for him on the field. Did he get a play call the rest of the game; I did not see it.
I am better coach than Lame Stiffin!
I coach JV football for high schoolers!
Pete, please get rid of this incompetent coach. Lame Stiffin will be the downfall of the USC dynasty....can you say Miami post-2002?
RE: Offense play calling?
11 straight running plays, I read that as NOT having trust in Booty. Does anybody agree? If that is the case how about starting to think about letting Mark Sanchez take over? He has a stronger arm and is much better athlete.
Kiffin blaming players for his horrible playcalling.. What a idiot. he needs to man up and take responsibility for not getting the offense ready.

"Offensive coordinator Norm Chow called eight straight running plays to start at the RCA Dome, the last of which resulted in a 19-yard touchdown run by Young."
looks like that may have been inspiration for the CW drive yesterday. Norm still has an influence on sc.
Kiffin should be let go on two counts. 1. The play calling/game plan is obvious to everyone. All the players, fans in the stands and people watching on TV know what it coming next. 2. He doesnt coach. Does this loser actually do any coaching during the week? With all the talent on this team, you have to be one terrible coach for them to show no improvement half-way through the season.
How good is John David Booty? Last night, he had Dwayne Jarrett, Patrick Turner, Steve Smith, and Fred Davis on the field at different times of the game and only managed to complete a total of eight passes to a receiving corp that is second to none in college football. Worse yet, is average per completed was a measley 5.9 yards. The reason the Trojans have regressed since their opening game at Arkansas is because he's regressed. At issue is something that no one ever mentions-his height or lack thereof. This explains the many tipped balls at the line of scrimmage, the failure to read secondary coverage, and the inability to throw the deep pass. Pete Carroll needs to realize that a quarterback change is in order. Otherwise, November could get very ugly once Oregon, Cal, and Notre Dame come into town. If Mark Sanchez is not the answer, certainly he's an improvement.
No reason to be passing to Adewale with the game on the line. I don't give a crap about hot routes or whatever. They need work....
From the Daily News article:
Offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin saw the enthusiasm Washington showed on that play and decided to put the ball in his hands for the rest of the drive.
"I happened to see the way he got up, and I don't usually do that because I'm looking down at the next play," Kiffin said. "That's the first time I've seen that from him."
What a dork. Can't be anymore disconnected from the game than that. Better off having a computer pick the plays than Stifflin.
Yeah, putting Mark Sanchez in will do a lot to boost confidence in the team. What if he goes in and struggles. Then do you go back to Booty who knows there is no confidence in him. And then you have to deal with Sanchez starting in a year or two with only struggling on his mind.
Booty will be fine. Relax. We just can't take him out of rhythmn by going conservative when we get a lead. Its Kiffin not Booty.
PC will NEVER play Sanchez ahead of Booty. Otherwise Booty does a Sam Keller. PC will not expose himself without an experienced backup. Sanchez does not play until 2008.
Last year's offense was one of the best offenses in college football history. I think we should give the Offensive Coordinator credit for that success. Too bad that last year's real offensive coordinator is now playing quarterback for the Cardinals. Did you notice that Leinart had to call an audible on every play last year? At times I thought he was just doing a Peyton Manning impersonation, but now we know why he felt the need to change the calls so often.
RE: More Kfn./Sanchez
To: Roger and Brad
JDB is NOT going anywhere or do a Keller #. He'll have to sit out a year NOT to mention the expenses and learn an entirely new different system.
Brad:
JDB will never be a Leinart despite his athletic advantage over Leinart. Leinart is/was bright, very smart and exceptional. That is why he is starting at the PRO level already. JDB needs to learn to spread the ball around instead of locking onto Jarrett and Smith. The QB's coach job is to correct that. I can't wait to see Vidal Hazelton in action. Speaking of Hazelton I wonder if his father prefer to see his son on a number 2/3(depending?) ranked team VS. PSU?
Go Trojans
RE: More Kiffin
Fresh of the wire news: Jim Fassel OC for the Baltimore Ravens was just fired. ALL you CON Kiffin fans myself included start lobbying for him. He might NOT be a Norm Chow BUT he is still very respected as an offensive coordinator and QB's coach and NOT that far off, either. He also has roots in the Southern California area as most of you know.
