Its good to see the computer is smarter then a couple of socal sportwriters and still has West Virginia behind a one loss team. Conversely, is Tuberville still going to cry about a system that has him ranked ahead of a couple undefeated teams?
October 15, 2005: the greatest day in college football history?
One year later, I make the case here:
http://www.brendanloy.com/2006/10/best-day-ever.html
Yeah no kidding PH..that guy's mouth runs more than that energizer bunny. He was at the Orange bowl watching USC cream Oklahoma and he said (IN a very arrogant tone) "I would like to play the winner of this game"
Patrick,
How do you know Tuberville used a very arrogant one. Were you in the press box? Fool.
Because the story was related on ESPN.
So yes I do know.
Idiot.
Shine, this was said at the halftime show, in nationally broadcasted television. I can see his tone being interpreted as arrogant.
Also read it in about every college football magazine there is, and have heard it mentioned on tv many times since then.
Don't know where you have been. Hiding in Auburn Al, probably.
well, 'nuff said. Anyone who posts a personally insulting message like that doesn't belong on here anyway. Good luck with your anger managment therapy. :o))
Tuberville is self-serving, to say the least, with his comments. Today, he said, "Until we get a playoff, the SEC's going to be on the outside looking in. I don't think it will ever happen."
Has Tuberville forgotten that, just three years ago, the SEC's own LSU earned a spot in the BCS championship despite a loss? So, he doesn't think it will ever happen, even though it has already happened. The press is so clueless that the A.P. reporter quoting Tuberville mentions that Auburn was left out at 13-0 in 2004, but neglects to mention that LSU's 2003 experience belies Tuberville's statement.
Tuberville went on to say, "I think people are enamored by not losing, rather than voting on who the best teams are. The national champion to me is the best team at the end of the year, not the team that goes through their schedule [unbeaten]." Why do I have a feeling that if an undefeated Auburn found itself behind a one-loss team in the BCS rankings, Tuberville would say something like, "I don't know what more you can do than win all your games."
My advice to Tuberville: you really can't complain when your home non-conference schedule includes Buffalo, Tulane and Arkansas State, and your road non-conference schedule includes... no one. That's right, Auburn: cry foul when you play EIGHT home games, and only four on the road. Give me a break, Tubby.
Shine. If I remember correctly they televised that quote of Tubberville saying that he wanted to play USC. It was on TV during the game itself in a cutaway to the commentator box. Patrick didn't have to be in the press box - Tubberville's arrogant smug face was on every screen across the nation. Fool.
No way USC is bette than Michigan at this time
Tubberville's whining has paid some dividends. Auburn is No. 4 in the BCS after beating Floriday without scoring a single point on offense. But the last time he whined about the BCS was the week before his got hammered. Keep talking, Tubby. That's what you're good at.
That must really break your heart Scotty.
i am an eyewitness. i remember tubie's arrogant comment as clear as day. i wonder if tommy would still make his comment that "The national champion to me is the best team at the end of the year, not the team that goes through their schedule [unbeaten]." with regard to our 2002, 2-loss, carson palmer led orange bowl team. they were widely regarded as playing better than anyone in the nation at the end of the season. oh that's right, tubby was too busy clinging to his job to be running his whiney mouth then.
