Who's To Blame?
John David Booty's interception that was returned for a touchdown appeared to be a miscommunication between he and wide receiver Dwayne Jarrett.
But offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin said it was Booty -- not Jarrett -- who was to blame.
He said Booty did not read the position of Arizona State cornerback Keno Walter-White properly, but Jarrett did and took off downfield.

You know who I blame? Kiffin for calling that same
damn play 17 times today!!!!
Kiffin needs to stop passing the blame to his players and start assuming it. He is a horrible play caller and if anyone needs to be benched it is him. I hope Pete has the stones to talk with Kiffin and takes away the keys to the Porsche, because he has shown he is not responsible enough to drive it alone.
as much as i don't like Kiffin im gonna want to blame Booty. he read that play bad... um, wait did i say play i mean PLAYS. it was pathetic. the CBs new everytime JD was gonna throw the ball to DJ. he was looking at him the whole time. he wouldnt even 3-step drop and look for other recievers to throw to. lack of communication. DJ didnt even turn on around almost everytime JD threw the ball to him so incomplete. also, again with the stupid playcalling and inconsitence pass in last 4 mins of the game. 2 n 5 passing play incomplete n JD throws a measley 2 yard pass thats not even close to a first down. 3 n 5, the exact same play and measley 2 yard pass. luckley an ASU player was offside so we got another play off n scored. calling those stupid passing plays was dumb. Chauncey was in sync n they should've ran the ball n continue to play traditional USC power football. now this is my call. install Mark during this bye n by the end of the year start looking for a new offensive coordinator or get rid of him right now n i mean right now, before they really lose, n let an assistant coach take over until off-season. i mean is that good or what?
I guess he can call the same play if it's a running play. Otherwise, Kiffin is a bad play caller. How about a play where Fred Davis doesn't seal the right side and the defender trips up Chauncey Washington, is that a bad call? No one will ever be happy because it's always easy to second guess when you're an armchair quarterback.
Kiffin has no class. Its one thing to put blame on your QB privately and another to blame him publicly. It is clear to me now that Kiffin was never our guy to run the offense. Gee I wonder why Carroll brought in Nick Holt to man the defense for him. Is it because he realized after the 2005 season with the exodus of all the stars, that Lame Stiffin sucks and the offense was going to need some serious help? Hmmm...
With every offensive play, the more I miss Norm Chow.
I agree with Chunk. That passing play was called multiple times in the game. Sometimes it was almost intercepted by their corner. And finally, there was one that burned the Trojans. Playcalling was not creative at all. Running game was not doing good in two quarters (2nd&3rd) and 'SC got outscored in 3rd quarter. Also, where was the usual (excellent) halftime adjustment?? Didn't the coaching staff see anything wrong toward the end of the first half when ASU was gaining momentum of the game??
Lame Kiffin sucks, dude!
FIRE KIFFIN!!!
Kiffin threw JDB under the bus immediately after the game...what an ass...Keep it in the meetings after the film session/review on Sunday...Remember that he is a Fresno State honk...he went there and was a qb, but what the hell did he do there??????
Kiffin is not a creative play caller to say the least. You should never go away from your strength once it is proving to be working. One thing I did notice was the ASU's use of the screen pass as an easy play to execute to make some key big plays against us and get some big 1st downs. I saw us only use a middle screen once to Desmond Reed and that was a big gainer. We threw to the running backs with success but went away from it and the incomplete bootlegs that Booty threw to the backs honestly should go to the Tight End, Fred Davis in that situation where he can touch the ball.
He was a totally unused weapon in this game and I really dont remember us going to him much. Booty is trying outside timing routes with recievers that dont practice because of injury to the sidelines and those are more difficult hookups then stuff in the middle of the field.
Just my 2 cents but a win is a win. We had way too many penalties and turnovers for a championship caliber football team.
Much respect to Washington though he was a beast and is the best thing we got going.
Fight on
If Booty wants to remain the starter QB, he neds to hire Leinert's QB coach and learn to throw something other than the quick short pass. He also ha to quit doing his pathetic fake handoffs becuase you he doesn't fool any defenders when the closest back to hm is two feet away.
JDB is Mike Van Rhapporst all over again.
Dude behind me says, "Is it just me? What aren't we passing the ball more?" Later, he says,"Why aren't we running the ball more?"
Still had his price tag on his Interlock Logo T-Shirt...
A different team, and a different mix of fans.
I find this a little funny. When USC forced Chow out I wrote the effect would soon be. But the faithful said "In PC We Trust."
Now the shortcomings of replacing a legend with a kid is growing more apparent to all.
So is loss of PC as defensive coordinator. Another bad move.
This team may not be great but it is under achieving. Injuries have not helped.
What happened to Bradford?
He lines up at fullback and catches a touchdown pass out of the back field and looks like he has been doing that all year for the first score of the game....and then Kiffin never goes back to him as the play maker during that last crucial drive for the winning score? Instead he goes to Adawale or some walk-on? Where are the key substitutions here.........isn't Allen Bradford one of your big blue chip guys? Who just came back from safety and decided to come back to the offensive side of the ball? Looks like the genious personnel moves during last years Nat'l Championship game all over again.
I kind of wondered about the Bradford thing too, the guy makes a nice catch for an early TD then poof you never hear from him again except on special teams coverage
Anyone else notice one of the offensive lineman jumping and shouting at the sidelines during the game-winning drive after one of Chauncey's nice runs as to say, just run the damn ball and we'll win coach!?!?!
>>>John David Booty's interception that was returned for a touchdown appeared to be a miscommunication between he and wide receiver Dwayne Jarrett.<<<
Remember the play just before? Same pass, same place, ALMOST picked, and way off the mark. Wasn't that just after calling the time out after a TV time out? Hmmmm!
