A Crazy Day

| | Comments (11) |

USC defeated Oregon without a customary lapse and just about every other team between the Trojans and undefeated Ohio State/Michigan lost.
``That's a big-time rivalry with Oregon, to get that win is a big win,'' quarterback John David Booty said. ``Today was just a crazy day. That's how it is for every team, everyone's lost except Ohio State and Michigan. We were watching the Cal game at our hotel. We know how hard it is to beat Arizona at Arizona, so I wasn't surprised.''

Let me guess Scott's new AP poll?

1. Rutgers (Undefeated in big East means #1 baby!)
2. OSU (undefeated but would lose to a mini-WVU even if god for them)
3. Michigan (ditto)
4. WVU (hey got to start with one loss teams somehwere right?)
5. Louisville (I know they beat WVU but when WVU beats Rutgers I'll be vindicated)
7. Texas (really should've won but for injury to McCoy and I like to torment USC fans)
8. Florida (SEC is second best to big East)
9. Auburn (ditto)
10. LSU (ditto)
11. Norte Dame (March on Christian soldiers!)
12. California (we know they will beat USC, AZ loss was a fluke)
13. USC (token vote for wins win over Ark & NU & Oregon)
14. Miami (hey got to rank them somewhere right?)
15. Arkansas (Hey, they lost to USC by 36!!!)
16. Nebraska (Hey, they lost to USC by 18!!!)
17. Wisconsin (Big Ten is OK)
18. Boise State (12-0 in WAC cant really be given much credit. 11-1 in Big East would be much more worthy)
19. Florida State (hey got to rank them somewhere also right?)
20. Wake Forest (didn't they just lose to FSU by 30?)
21. Manchester United (token for Munro)
22. UCLA (cause I'm really a closet Bruin)
23. Boston College (at least I think I could graduate from there)
24. BYU (Norm Chow will return one day!)
25. Connecticut (because the big East is that good, nice win over Pitt!)

Told you so!

Cal players were blabbing last week they were thinking of "Tucson, Tucson, Tucson only!"

As they were pondering that thought, Arizona just happened to win!

The Cal bubble has been popped and USC is going to deflate it even more back to Bezerkley next week. STAY TUNED!

Mike, you are spot on in the way Wolf decides the polls-- IMO he has the least credibility of any AP voters after having WVU as #1 for half the season.

Mike,

How can you place table-topping Manchester United way down at No. 21? With the way Cristiano Ronaldo, Paul Scholes and Edwin Van Der Sar are playing right now, I can't see the Red Devils any lower than say ... No. 10 ... due to the Carling Cup fiasco.

Thanks for the bit of recognition lad, but please consider moving Sir Alex's boys up next week.

About Inside USC

Scott Wolf has covered USC for the Daily News since 1996. A USC graduate, he covered his first Trojan game in 1984 for the Daily Trojan. Scott is known as the "scourge of the Internet message boards," according to radio host Petros Papadakis. Despite this moniker, there's no truth to the rumor he takes pleasure in antagonizing the "Internet geeks."
