A Year Later

Notre Dame coach Charlie Weis said today he still does not have any fond memories of last year's thriller with USC.
``That was still a miserable game and will always be a miserable game,'' Weis said.

If I could appreciate the Rose Bowl as a great game, you'd think that a coach could appreciate a great game too.

...and this year's game will also be miserable for Charlie. Welcome to Pete's World!

steve said:

sorry charlie... you're going to have many many more "miserable games" in your future....!!

If you have USC at #4 this week then you are more pathetic than I thought.

Weinst said:

I am surprized. I should have thought that that SOB loved almost ending the carreer of a college football player with the single sleaziest thing I have ever seen in a college game -- and I go back a long way.

It was like a #4 MealDeal gone horribly awry.

Mr. Picks said:

A long and continuous set of miserable memories in regards to SC football will continue for Weiss as long as Coach Carrol is on the helm.

Kelly said:

Weis you filth.
I have bad memories of that game also. Due to your willingness to stoop to growing the grass six inches high, Desmond Reed's foot got caught, and he now has permanent nerve damage. Reed, a gutty player, is still out there, but he has clearly lost his lightning speed.

Good for you #22, and Weis may you develop nightmare hemorrhoids!

Hey Fat Man, Misery for you is dished out two ways

1. One by denial to the buffet
2. By getting your Fat butt run out of the Colesium on Saturday

FDOG said:

I don't know about fond, but my funniest memory has to do with a certain coach's son on the usc staff who was stupidly down at the 5 yard line, trying to call a timeout as the game's dramatic moments unfolded.

Jason said:

Yes, I guess it is funny to see someone call for a timeout when they have none left. Except it isn't a penalty to do so, and he was actually pointing to the running clock to get the ref to stop it when the ball fell out of bounds. Either way, USC won.

Felipe said:

Hey Kelly,
I will continue the argument you started. I have no respect for Charlie the Hut. Fat man Weis was willing to put his own players in harms way last year by growing the grass over 6 inches tall then watering it down the night before. I distinctly remember 2 ND players suffered the same fate that Desmond Reed did in that game. Desmond has never been the same since.

Charlie Weis did all that in the chance to win a football game THAT HE LOST!

FIGHT ON TROJANS AND KICK THESE UGLY LOOKING LEPRACHAUNS OUT OF TOWN ON SATURDAY!

FDOG,

Its not college basketball. If you don't have the timeout, they just don't give it to you. There is no penalty involved. You can forget the Chris Webber analogy when it comes to Brennan Carroll.

FDOG said:

Does this lame bitch "the real Patrick" have any fond memories of when he was just "Patrick?"

Or has he always been a miserable wuss.

roboftroy said:

Regarding Carroll Jr.'s time out, if you watch the replay, you'll see that the sideline ref clearly signals timeout before Little Pete starts his "timeout" dance. It's a non-issue kept alive by Fat Charlie.

These complaints about the long grass last year are getting old - it was done to slow us down, not (necessarily) to cause injuries. It was not the first time something like that has been done to us or other 'fast' teams, and it won't be the last. The Ducks always seem to have a wet field for any night game at Autzen, regardless of whether it rains the night before/day of the game.

It didn't slow down Reggie much during that game, and I'm sure injuring #22 (plus 2 of his own guys) was not the point. Going into the visitor's lockeroom last year, after a bitter defeat, to say it was a great game took some guts (and judging from his bulging belly, he's got plenty!)

All that being said, I have to hate Weis simply because he coaches the Domers, not because he's a 'cheater'...

Felipe said:

Hey coffeeman,

Those injuries obviously were not intended but they certainly were a direct result of the grass being that tall. As a head coach and professional in charge of the lives of student athletes he should have f***ing known better. So what if that happens alot. It should never happen period!
ITS PRETTY SAD AND PATHETIC ON HIS PART THAT HE COULDN'T TRY TO BEAT SC STRAIGHT UP WITHOUT RESORTING TO SUCH TACTICS!

What you call "took some guts" in the visiting locker room, I call HUMILITY!

PH55 (real, fake or whatever),

Who said anything about a penalty? Who made any analogy? Besides you, you dolt.

I just said that it was funny to see "junior" down there, several yards outside of the team area, acting like a complete idiot (one of the usual duties of a "tight end coach" at USC).

Learn how to read and analyze thought before you question me you numskull.
