Back To Oregon State

Even after routing Stanford, USC coach Pete Carroll's thoughts returned to the Oregon State loss.
``I'm mostly disappointed in the way we played,'' he said. ``We screwed it up. We didn’t have to lose that game.''

No kidding coach. Open up the playbook for JD so the team has better flow running plays during the game. We have seen glimpses of greatness, now it's time to take it to the opponet from start to finish.

He's got that right.

No excuse for losing that game at all. It's hard to find a comparison to that, not many #3 teams in the country lose to an unranked team. Maybe if Louisville loses to Connecticut or Ohio st. lost to Indiana or something.

Well regret is the worst thing in the world. Hopefully it will motivate PC and Sarkiffin to get their act together. Kinda too late, though....

What is he going to say after they lose to Notre Dame and Cal?

Patrick,

Did you sprain your ankle jumping off the USC bandwagon?

Your comments are worthless. Nothing but mindless criticism without a clue.

Oh boy...another person with the "jumping on the bandwagon" post...geez I just ignore those there are like 1 million on here...everyone is accusing everyone else of "jumping on" or "jumping off" the "bandwagon". It's like a knee jerk post if you see something you don't like.

What bandwagon? The bandwagon of people who just sit around and talk about how great USC is even though they had no idea who USC was before Reggie Bush? (sound familiar?) I have been a fan of USC since 1978, (probably before you were born) have seen them play in person a few times, visited the campus 3 times even though I live in Michigan, and stuck with them through the all the rough years. Pat H is probably some 17 year old who learned about USC from his play station 2 game and lives 10 minutes from USC but doesn't even know it. :o))

I'm a little surprised Pete publicly admits to still thinking about that game. Its usually 'let's look forward, everything's going to fine' kind of sound bites from him. Privately I'm sure it eats at him of course, but seeing it in print after the big win is just surprising....

Patrick clearly has not been paying attention the past few years. When we lost to Cal in 2003, Cal was unranked, yet USC went on to win a share of the National Championship.

Good and even great teams will lose to inferior opponents. It happens all the time, just ask the 1980 Soviet Union Hockey team, or the 1988 Oakland A's, etc.

Oh, and Pete certainly does not owe people like Patrick anything after a loss. After 2 National Championships, 4 consecutive BCS games and three Heisman winners his performance speaks for itself.

By the way Oregon State is now 24 in the BCS poll.

Patrick, if you care to disciuss further I will be at the Associates Luncheon for this Saturday's Homecoming game. You do know where the campus is right?

Best regards,

Its very coincidental how Patrick became a USC fan in 1978, the same year they won a national title with John Robinson.

He is the equivalent of all the new Angels fans that jumped on the bandwagon when they won the series in 2002!

Sorry PC feels so bad. He didn't cause freak fumbles or the player slipping on the punt return. Jarrett one weakness he doesn't become a d-back and break up picks.

If he thinks about OSU, yeah it will be too bad if USC wins out, but reality is that comeback was what USC football has always been about.

What is hard is whoever would think in 2002 Matt Moore would defeat USC.
