Discuss The Game

Honestly, this was just about the result expected around USC, if you talked to people behind the scenes. Notre Dame's defense was just too weak to stop the Trojans' offense. The end.

Wolf,
Where are your going to rank SC now?

StiffArm said:

Expected? Not the way it sounded on this blog earlier in the week...

All right Scott, are you going to vote USC lower than second? Or will you hang on to W. Virginia as #1...maybe Louisville...

4th, behind Ohio State, Michigan and Florida, and just in front of the blue carpet people.

No arguments from me on this one.

What a classic line in your excellent tailgate video. "92,000 people here and I found the one guy who defends me".

To be honest, although we ae not always on the same page, I would have to fall into that defend Scott Wolf catergory as well. I suspect you get a huge kick out of controversy, and you have aparently been set up on occasion, but you are rarely scooped by other SC beat writers. MJDavidson.

This is exactly what I expected. I never thought it would be a close game. Too bad it wasn't 66 to 17, that would have been cool.

Booty played like a true champion. The TV talking heads were writing him off at half time after his two picks. They ate their words when the second half started!

Felipe said:

Aside from the second quarter, and giving them a meaningless TD in the 4th USC just flat out kicked their asses in every facet of the game.

If I were a recruit, a championship team is where I would see myself going. Especially a team that wins all the time, has a coach that trusts our ability to win (doesn't need to resort to ugly tactics like tall grass) and plays in great weather all season long.

Maybe the score will be enough to pick their interests.

Experts we're right, higher scoring than I expected given big game pressure. ND not ready for prime time despite Heisman hype and loft record. USC vastly improved, what is the measuring stick for potential match with Ohio State?

Trojans are looking better each week! That's great! I would like to mention that I was impressed with Brady Quinn. He's quite a competitor.

Stephanie said:

Easy. He'll go back to his week one card... (you are a genius, Scott).

1. West Virginia (great call!)
2. Ohio State
3. Auburn
4. LSU
5. Florida State (pure genius!)
6. Michigan
7. Florida
8. USC (How did you know?)
9. Notre Dame
10. Texas

As I mentioned in my comments under Weis Unplugged, the Irish proved that they do not belong in a BCS bowl game. Put Notre Dame somewhere where they won't be noticed. I sure hope the Irish drop to # 15 in the the BCS poll taking them out of any chance of making a BSC bowl.

The Trojans and John David played very well. Other than the second quarter "out of sync moment" Booty had a strong game and looked very confident throughout the night. CJ earned the starting spot for the remainder this season at tailback.

Love the Tailgating with Scott Wolf video! Scott, you continue to kick the tails of the lazy, fill-in-the-blanks beat writers at other papers. Fight On!

Yikes! Fix the comment preview page though, will ya?

About the only thing that I didn't enjoy about this great Trojan Victory was the incessant lobbying for Quinn for Heisman and ND for the Rose or any other BCS game. A non-stop barrage of commentary by those ABC hacks begging, wishing, imploring the BCS to invite the Irish to a BCS game. Rediculous! sickening to have to listen to this crap for the entire game.
