Less Opportunity
Freshman skill players like wide receivers Vidal Hazelton and Travon Patterson along with tailback Stafon Johnson are not getting much playing time but offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin said it is because games are a lot closer this season.
``In blowout games, John David Booty got a lot of opportunities last year,’’ Kiffin said. ``Vidal, Travon and Stafon don’t have a lot of chances right now with so many close games.’’

Plus Lane wouldn't know how to use them even when they do get into games. Remember Trojan fans, Lane is a very young pup. He is also not a prodigy offensive coordinator. He needs more seasoning call plays. I hear Blair High School in Pasadena may need an assistant coach in the off-season.
I believe the close games quote. Every sport plays it's young guns during "garbage time" Even Marcus and O.J. had to wait their turn.
But I was surprised more your recievers didn't get the call when DJ and Steve Smith were hurt.
When Vidal was in you basically knew it was probably going to be a running play.

Yeah that's too bad. Players like VH and PT have so much talent just put them on the field and good things will happen. Next year we are going to have 2 starting WR with absolutely no experience. Boy that will be fun to watch.
