See what happens when the Tings are no longer on the team?
No more academic scholars to boost the team GPA. Lord knows the only reason they were on the team from 2003-2005 was for the team GPA.
Now Hancock is deserving to be mentioned in a different breath than the Tings. Unfortunately, he is injured as always.

That is overall pretty disappointing and embarassing, but the public opinion about SC football that we love to turn our back on is totally true.
Looking over the list, the other disappointment was our inability to land Zach Miller. He would have been a great get and he now can toil in anonymity in the desert rather than play for championships.

Again, I do not post on this site anymore. Whoever this deranged person is who feels the need to impersonate me for weeks has gotten me pretty scared. I have closed the email address I used on here to post and have not posted anything in a week.
Whatever message you see by "Patrick" is not me and is whoever has been using my name for the past 2 weeks. Respond as you please.

That's just embarrassing for USC. The 4th best academic school in the conference and it almost strikes out in these honors?! Sample needs to have a little chat with Garrett....

Carroll is an above average coach. We should all be lucky he coaches our team. Not only does he get top athletes, he seems to pull a few who are also smart as well.
However, I think the coach across town is an ideal example of how to recruit TRUE student athletes!
For me, Dorrell's greatness lies in his absolute, unswerving, nearly mad commitment to the personal, intellectual, and physical growth of his student-athletes. When I watch him coach, I see a man for whom winning isn't nearly as important as transformation; his great obsession is to be the catalyst for his players to grow.

Correction ... the Tings were on the team to attempt to stop Texas in the 2006 Rose Bowl.
Funny how people keep saying that Carroll is a great recruiter and USC is/was so bullet-proof, yet you look out on the field during the most important game of last season and see two guys out there that -- according to this idiot PH55 -- are only on the team for GPA reasons.
Hmmmm ... it seems to me that they were on the team for BCS reasons. And if you have a problem with that, don't bother me, go talk to the head coach/defensive coordinator for that game.
Carroll's the one that recruited them -- a favor to their father, who is apparently the Monte Kiffin of PC's medical world. And he's the one that built a defense with barely any depth and he's the one that put those guys into the game.
And he's also the one that disgracefully blamed one of Ting brothers for the loss.
Famously last quote: "They were going to score anyway." Exactly what you want to hear from your head coach/defensive coordinator.

Garrett Green, Vanderboom and Mathews will be on that list next time the new selections come out..

Hey at least everyone except for Spanos was between 2.0 and 3.0.

Who cares? There are typically three types of students: scholars, artists and athletes. Some can be more than one but our football program tends to recruit kids that ultimately want to go to the NFL. Our general student body must keep raising the academic standards of USC. Our football players do not.

Dude, give it a rest. The constant Ting bashing is so played out. They're not even on the team anymore. If they were only on the team for their GPA, why did they even see the playing field? Don't bother blaming injuries last year because they played all the years they were there.

I would like to remind everyone, including Scott, that student/athletes almost always have a higher cumulative GPA than the general student body at any university.
Most people forget that there are "other" sports besides Football and Basketball.
While these "other" sports remain in the shadows, they certainly contribute to the image of any given school. These "other" athletes raise graduation rates, GPA's and add to the overall total of NCAA Championships.

Last thing on the Tings: They were not bad cover guys. They can match speed for speed. They just lacked height and strength...oh and hands. But, I watched those guys play in person and they were smart players who had the speed to cover receivers. But, just were too small to tackle the likes of Vince Young. But, then again Frostee, Darnell, Scott Ware, Cushing, and all the other defenders couldn't tackle him too.
