Nellum Update
Long Beach Poly track star Bryshon Nellum, who also plays football, was released from the letter-of-intent he signed with USC last week because of a mix-up by a compliance official.
According to NCAA rules, Nellum would need to sit out football for one year if he signed in November. However, if Nellum waits until the spring, he can participate in football and track immediately.
Another possible scenario is that Nellum would sign a letter-of-intent in February with football. The drawback for USC is that other schools, particularly UCLA, can now recruit Nellum until at least February.

I'm sooo worried Karl will have until Feb to take this stud WR from Poly away from me...this will give him time to:
* destroy all of last yrs SC/ucla tapes
* buy him a ticket out of the country for the beatdown Dec 2.
* eliminate all tapes, beatings and records of previous Poly players that decided to go to ucla (Lewis) or cal (Jackellison-ouch).
Dullard can have till Feb 09--ain't gonna happen!
We're just gettin started...
There you go Scott,
Now this is an informative post. Thanks.
I recall the days when SC lost local football players to schools such as Kansas State because they wanted to go to a winning program. Losing in football is worse than in any other sport because of the physical sacrifices these young men make on the field. I would think that the Trojans' record would be a big draw for any kid. I mean, SC was arguably the best team in the nation at the end of 2002 with Palmer, and they played for the title the last 3-years, and have an excellent shot again in 2006. That is 5-years in a row. We may never see this kind of run again in college because of the parity, and any good player has to be drawn to this success.
Speaking of recruits, how bad is Marcus Tyler's injury. I read he broke his leg in his playoff game last week. Sounds like a good reason to redshirt next year (he wouldn't play anyway).
Im shaking in my space boots at the thought of Karl Duh-rell out recruiting SC on a Poly player. Good luck
