Big East commissioner Mike Tranghese knows if Louisville wins its remaining games, there will be one-loss teams campaigning to be ahead of the Cardinals. But he won’t try to counter campaign.
``If people want to yell and scream about their one-loss teams, let them scream,’’ Tranghese told the Louisville Courier-Journal. ``I just don't think it is going to affect anybody. The Harris poll voters are going to vote the way they do, and it's certainly not going to affect the computers.
``I just think it is almost protectionist. Do I have to get out and pound the table for my schools? They know where I am coming from.’’

hate to say it but can't argue with him.
I think USC would beat Louisville's butt up and down the field but they are unbeaten.
OK so we got that real exciting matchup of Ohio st. vs. Louisville..wonder what else will be on that night?
Or...
could you imagine Ohio st. vs USC in the BCS game?? shades of woody hayes, Sam "Bam" Cunnigham, John McKay, Pat Haden...
Maybe someone can rig that BCS computer to get us in there.....:))
Bring the Buckeyes or the cardinals to LA and have them play USC :))
Tranghese is a genius the way he helped make the Big East a basketball powerhouse by utilizing ESPN in the mid to late 1980's.
Now they are rebuilding football after losing
three of their top football schools.
How would the Big 12 be if Texas, OU, and Nebraska left tomorrow?
What about the Big 10's recovery if Michigan, OSU and Wisconsin left?
He's not lobbying because he knows Louisville doesn't belong in the NC game. They will have beat 1 good and 1 average team all season.
It's better for them to win a bowl game against Boise St. and say "we should have been in the MNC game" than to lose Oklahoma style in the big game and be exposed as a pretender.
So he went to the media to tell them he's not going to go to the media.
Being a fan of a Pac 10 team, I know what it is like to have your conference dissed. If Louisville goes undefeated, they deserve to play in the BCS championship game as much as anyone. If the SEC doesn't like it, then they should schedule preseason games with teams like Louisville so they can beat them on the field. Then they will have one loss to match up against the team that runs the SEC "gauntlet". Of course they are assuming that they can win those non conference games and we all know that they look a little less indestructable when actually playing non conference games then when they talk about it.
Bill,
Right ON! I don't think they will be messing with the Big East top four after that W VA shellackin laid on GA in the Sugar Bowl. But there is a real delimea brewing. Rutgers is going to beat Louisville. That is how the SOB's are going to get in. Rugtgers is the team that will get dissed. Also, they are using their 12 game to make money and beat up some Sister of the Poor by paying them a paltry $250K, @$$ Holes.
Fight ON!
Follow the money for the final decision.
They already knew the Conference doesn't get respect, if they truely thought their team was a contender than they should have schedules some tough teams with their out of conference games to prove it.
That's how 'SC does it.
Problem solved: Rutgers 28, Louisville 25
