Ed Orgeron was retained from Hackett's staff but outside it was probably DeWayne Walker.

Norm Chow. Was conditional for Carroll to accepting the position that he had a green light to do what it took to get Chow to leave NC State and come to USC

How Do You Do! I am sure this must be a --your-- trick question. Everyone "assumes" first assistant coach Pete hired is Norm Chow (hired January, 2001). However, DeWayne Walker was hired by Pete Carroll as his secondary coach--and also Associate Head Coach!-- in December, 2000. Of course Ed Orgeron and Kennedy Pola were retained by Pete Carroll from Paul "Buddy" Hackett's staff and while could be considered Pete's first "hires," since retained by Pete, I would say that -- SURPRISE -- DeWayne Walker was Pete's real first hire that he brought to 'SC for his coaching team (which, by the way, Pete called a "Dream Team" a'la OJ's defense team--yet many of Pete's dream team gone within a year, but that's a another story, right Wolfie?)

It was Dewayne Walker. He was the Secondary coach and Associate head coach. I think Kiffen might have been second.

Dewayne Walker. who is now or shall I say, has been, the new Defensive Coordinator for the bruins. so he's familiar with Pete Carroll and probably told that pathetic team and staff everything about how Pete runs everything. not sure it'll help cuz that happened to USC many of times and nothing really happened.
