Knowledgeable sources say that if Arizona State fires Dirk Koetter, the top candidate might be former USC offensive coordinator Norm Chow. It's not a big stretch to find a reason, because ASU athletic director Lisa Love and Chow worked together at USC.

I love Coach Chow but I think he will struggle as a head coach, especially at ASU. It will be tough to recruit socal and U of A with Stoops will have a leg up on recruiting there. Plus, recruiting has not been Coach Chow's forte. He will probably get good QB's but the other parts will be tough.

Good for Norm, Bad for us, Dirk at ASU is only good for us as they will always under achieve.. while were on this subject, UCLA don't even think of firing Karl Dorrell
That would be great for Chow. Yes, we would go against him, but he deserves a shot at a HC gig and ASU is a great spot for him.
The only issue is his drive and energy to recruit, but he can get a recruiting cooridnator for that.
Personally, I love watching personnel from 'SC succeeding and it would be cool to see Chow's O versus Carroll's D.

I think it is safe to say, Koetter is gone. From the Loren Wade tragedy to the quarterback fiasco to the continued underperformance on the field (I believe ASU under him is still 0 for California), I can't imagine a scenario in which he will be around next year.
Not sure if Chow's personality is a good fit there, but it would be interesting to see him go head to head with PC every year.
As much as I admire what Norm Chow did for USC, I just don't know what he would be like as a head coach. I think it would be interesting to see if he can run a program or if he really belongs in the booth calling plays and running practices. I wish him luck, but even more so I wish he was on the USC coaching staff.
Now it's just left to see if ASU can start playing some defense. Offense was never their problem. I love Norm Chow as much as the next guy but the reality is no one knows if Norm can really run a team and recruit. ASU is a good place for Norm though. It's about time the Pac-10 got another quality coach - since it's clear that Tedford really isn't that guy.
Has there ever been another coach that built up as much good will and respect as Tedford has based on one triple OT win 4 years ago? The guy's won nothing since. Ridiculous.
You can bet Norm Chow will be playing the I taught Sarkiffin everything they know card to draw the top QB recruits. And you know what - he'll be right.

USC is just days away from playing Notre Dame. Both teams are ranked in the top 5, there are huge implications for the winner/loser and all you want to do is discuss Arizona State, Norm Chow and Lisa Love?

Norm is already on record as saying that the two jobs that could separate him from the NFL would be NC St or ASU.
It'll be a better situation to come into than the Stanford job. He'll have some raw QB talent to mold.
Good luck to Norm. With all he did for the Trojans he deserves all our support ..364 days out of the year.

Well, Lisa Love, the former USC Assistant Athletic Director and volleyball coach is now AD at Arizona State. So there is a natural connection to ASU for Chow.

It's all about us. If Norm is there, it will motivate Carroll, not to mention Lane Kiffin, even more ... if that's possible. It doesn't matter what Norm is able to do at ASU.

2 weeks ago when I rated BYU#25 in Scott's mock poll because "Norm Chow" will return, I should have put ASU. Nice scoop Scott.
I wouldn't count on Koetter leaving. I read an article about the extension he signed before the season and what it would take to buy him out. Wow, they have thrown a bunch of money at this underachieiver. You have to wonder if he had photos of someone with a goat (appologies to Lisa Love).
With their decent second half showing, I would doubt they can get rid or Koetter.
As far as Chow, I think he deserves a head coaching shot but I'm not sure ASU is a great job for him. You're not going to be dealing with many Rhodes scholars there and the fans do not show up if you are not winning.
I think he would have done very well at Stanford but they choked on that decision. Walt Harris really looks like a brilliant hire today!

Tedford could be there the next decade, go 0-10 against the Trojans, and his epitaph will read 'Beat USC in 2003.'
This will never happen but Kiffin leaves the staff to go back to Florida to take the Miami Hurricane job and Norm Chow comes back to run our offense
I agree with others that Chow is a GREAT mind and offensive coordinator but possibly not head coach material
The 2005 Orange Bowl versus Oklahoma is still the greatest USC performance I've ever seen in a BIG game.

As much as we would like to see another pairing of Carroll-Chow, with Pete running the D and Norm running the O, I don't see this ever happening again.
I do not see the money as the primary obstacle.
Honestly, do you guys really thing that Pete and Norm had that big of a falling out? I know Lane Kiffin was a total upcoming as an Offensive Coordinator but I mean think about it. If there was really that much battle going on between Norm Chow and Pete Carroll, and I will be the first to say it, that 2004 USC Team was one of the most dominant teams of all time and probobly the equal to the 95 Nebraska team. But to me, if there was that much going on between Norm and Pete, there is no waaaaay that they would have blown out that dominant Oklahoma team the way they did. Do you guys think that Norm would ever go back under Carroll as an Offensive Coordinator at SC? Whats your guy's takes?
