Sore Spot

Cal coach Jeff Tedford was perturbed with the officials’ spot of the ball after quarterback Nate Longshore failed to gain a yard on third-and-1 at the 29 in the third quarter with the score 9-9.
Reporters told Tedford it appeared the side officials stood on the far side of the 30-yard line, which was where the Bears needed to get for a first down. By the time the officials met in the center of the field, they were standing on Cal's side of the 30.
``You noticed that, too?’’ Tedford asked. "They kept moving back, back, back.’’

tedford is such a moron... if you watched the replay, Longshore got stuffed and was moved BACK (yes back)on the qb sneak on that forth and 1 play. if a team doesn't have the first down to begin with and THEN moves back... well of course they're not going to get a first down. idiot...

In light of the undisputably phantom illegal procedure penalty against Patrick Turner which directly cost us a TD, this isn't worth mentioning.

I don't know where the officials started running in from but that was a GENEROUS spot for Cal if anything. Longshore lost yardage on the play.

Tedford is a competitor, sure he is mad at the time. But he's also seen the tape by now and he knows it wasn't a first down. Not that he is going to admit it now.

If you watch Turner very closely he jumped a little early but it had no impact on the play. IT was frustrating to see the TD taken away like that.

Yes, because if they had gotten the first down then....

it would have made no difference.

I liked how, once the Line judge placed his foot, then the ball where his foot was, the umpire came up and just moved the ball back. Then the Line judge moved his foot back to meet where the umpire placed the ball.

WTF? Together with the fumble after the catch non call, you have possibly a different game!

The umpire placed the ball in the right spot Mr. Viewer. The line judge's foot was in the wrong spot. Turner never moved either CaliFB. That was a phantom call.
