Sorry Pac-10
USC's victory over Cal means if the Trojans reach the BCS title game, the Rose Bowl will end up with a matchup like Michigan-LSU. As things stand, it's unlikely Cal will make it into the BCS top 14 to earn consideration for the New Year's Day game.

If Cal had beaten either Tennessee or Arizona, they would be headed to the Rose Bowl. What a shame for them and the conference.
Scott,
Since Cal will not be going to the BCS, what team will DeSean Jackson and the rest of the Cal fans be talking smack to in the Holiday Bowl?
This is kind of a rhetorical question, but are there any fans in the Pac 10 that are worse than Cal fans (unfriendly and poor losers)? No tradition, constantly choking in Big Games, never been invited to a BCS game, no Rose Bowl appearance in over 50 years, players stink in the NFL, yet these fans still act like they are among the elite in college football. What’s the deal?
More like Michigan Florida I would guess.
Scott, What where you smoking when you voted Florida #2? They beat up on a D1-AA team, You should be fired for your poor opinion
It seems most years that there will be only one BCS team from the Pac-10. Makes you realize how fortunate USC was to get the Orange Bowl invite following the 2002 season. Cal gets to visit Shamu once again, while the Trojans get a 5th straight BCS game.
How about another Michigan / Texas match up?
Nebraska / Michigan would also be a good game.
If the Rose Bowl isn't a Pac-10 and Big-10 game, it's just another game with little importance other than the big bucks. What ever happened to that format? Oh yes, I forgot! The big bucks!! Follow the money.
CAL
Always the bridesmaid but never the bride!
But I don't feel sorry for them. They should have beaten either Tennessee or Arizona.
Just keep CAL out, I get more satisfaction that Cal is schmoozing with Shamu than I do of having two P10 teams in the BCS
If USC does go to the NC game, it's a good thing that Cal wouldn't go to the Rose. They'd only get crushed by Michigan (as they always do in big games) and would bring more disgrace onto the Pac 10.
IN PETE WE TRUST!!!
For what it's worth, the Pac-10 is still the top-rated conference in the Sagarin ratings. Sagarin actually has two ratings, one that measures depth and one that measures average strength, and the Pac-10 is tops in both. Eight of ten Pac-10 teams are bowl-eligible.
The Pac-10 has nine of the top 45 teams in the Sagarin ratings. The SEC has eight. The Pac-10 has one team outside the top 50 (Stanford); the SEC has five (and three are outside the top 75).
(The SEC is more top-heavy, with five of the top 17 teams to the Pac-10's two; the Pac-10 has as many teams in the top 25, but three are ranked between 22 and 25.)
Granted, Sagarin is only one index, and other ratings may differ, but it still provides some food for thought about the depth of the Pac-10.
