And You Thought USC Was Disappointed
It's clear Michigan coach Lloyd Carr is not happy about the events today. Talking about the BCS tonight, Carr said, ``I don't think there is any question there are flaws in the system. I don't know exactly what the voters were thinking.''
As for the players' reaction, Carr said, ``obviously disappointment but that's part of life.''

Hey- Did anyone see Jim Harbaugh at practice a couple of weeks ago?
I don't know why I thought of this, maybe because SC is playing Michigan in the Rose Bowl, but I have a feeling PC may hire up a gem after the season is over.
With Sark being pushed by PC for the Arizona St. job, we will need a QB Coach. Plus, the guy has Head Coaching experience.
I mean lets be honest folks, if PC were to ever leave is there anyone on the present staff that WE would want for a Head Coach? I love our assistants, but Sark is the only one who comes to mind as a possible Head Coach.
Holt- No way; Kiffin- Not a chance(Maybe somewhere else)
Anyways, if anyone has any insight, throw it out there.

Help me...anyone:
Was that the most pathetic performance by a USC offensive line in the last 20 years?
When was there a single-game performace more emabarssing...and costly?????

Louisville? Honestly, why is it that some voters always have to get cute and give a high ranking to a West Virginia (your previous #1) ... or Louisville ... or some other one-off team. They never pan out. Please. Just give an honest opinion without trying to be unique.

Fire Kiffin
As for UM, you had your chance you lost
Maybe they will be as disappointed as SC and the game will be another stinker
What a joke this RB should be; two teams that don't want to be there

I don't understand why UM fan is upset. IMO, until there is a playoff, I don't WANT a BCS champion that is not a conference champion! UM played OSU and lost, tough shit UM. You didn't win the Big-10.
Trojanhorse, it is kinda seeming like the Sour Grapes Bowl, which is sad and strange for a Rose Bowl.

ReelBruin,
Michigan is upset because they are the 2nd best team in the country and just got left out of the National Championship to an inferior Florida Team b/c their coach doesn't know how to wine like Mack Brown or Urban Myer. But I am your you wouldn’t understand that kind of disappointment b/c when was the last time the Bruins were left out of the National Championship, let alone a BCS Bowl Game?
FYI - Vegas had Michigan as a 6.5 point favorite over Florida if they were to hypothetically play today. And by the way, the BCS is set up for the two best teams to play for the Championship, there are no requirements ruling out a rematch or that you have to win your conference championship.
And if we wanted your opinion on National Championships, Scott would have put up a post on Basketball or Women's Gymnastics not Football. Enjoy the win, UCLA's Defense played out of their mind and earned it. Enjoy your post season trip in the Emerald Bowl wherever that is while USC plays in your house in another BCS Game.
On the bright side for the Trojans, at least we insured that Coach Karl will be around for another couple years.

Not a bid consolation prize, ya’ think? Big bucks to the university and Pac-10. Good day for recruiting, also. What is our goal? To play in the Rose Bowl game. Be careful what you wish for. BTW 9 of our 2006 opponents made bowl games. (8 for this season, and Texas in Jan 2006.) 2 play Jan 1, and 1 Jan 3.

I tend to agree with "The Herd". Playoffs would detract from the regular season game interest. "Oh, this game isn't important, let's wait until the play-offs". Now, each game is important. Interest in college football has climbed over the past few years. Why detract from it by changing the system. Look at USC attendance over the past 3 years. Each game has a meaning. If we had a playoff system, all we would have to do is make the top 16. Or even the top 8. One could afford a loss or 2 or even 3. Now, you are in a playoff game every week. You would lose 1 or 2 regular games, as 3 more games would be too much added to a 12 game system. Then, many teams would lose the much needed revenue with fewer games. What would you do? Have 8 major games New Years day, then what?

JJH4USC - If I want to look up sore loser in the dictionary, I'm sure I'll see your face.
And since you forget history before embarassing yourself, the answer to your question was 1998, when Miami beat us, the last year we thumped USC's ass. So I have felt it, thank you. It sucked. It sucked bad. Almost as much as your O.
I was posting a rational take, I believe conference champs should play for it. That's my opinion.
P.S. SCOREBOARD

I don't get why a playoff would detract from the regular season, on the contrary, it would enhance the season. Look at Baseball, when they expanded the playoffs from 2 (each league) to four, so man more teams were eligible for the playoffs. It has created interest in so many more teams that if the two division winners were the only ones to the playoffs.
Right now, I would guess we would have the six BCS champs and two at large in an 8 team playoff.. so either you are fighting for your division (if you have a 2 team conf), or your conference outright like SC, or lets say you have two great teams in your conference, you still have a chance at an at large (like the wild card in baseball/NFL).. Right now, one loss and you have an outside shot in seasons like this, or no shot in seasons like 2004 or 2005.
Playoffs would be good for everyone..

ReelBruin,
At least we agree that teams should play for it on the field instead of this BCS crap (which has a history of screwing the Pac 10). Unfortunately for UCLA, even a 16 team playoff system would not help your Bruins b/c you would still have to finish in the Top 16. I also think it is funny that your biggest game of the year was beating USC, while USC's biggest Game of the year will be playing in the Rose Bowl (and I am not talking about during the regular college football season).
And are you sure you want to talk about scoreboard?
11 USC National Championships (2 under Carroll)
7 USC Heisman Trophies (3 under Carroll)
41-28-7 - USC’s all time record agaisnt UCLA (5-1 under Carroll)
USC - 5 BCS Bowl Games, UCLA - 0 BCS Bowl Games (but 1 Emerald Bowl Appearance!)
....scoreboard. ReelBruin have fun at the Emerald Bowl! And savor UCLA's well earned victory over USC. We will all look forward to hearing from you again in another 7 years after UCLA wins another game against USC.
