Jarrett Makes History

Wide receiver Dwayne Jarrett was named to the Walter Camp All-American team tonight, which means he is USC's first-ever 2-time All-American first team wide receiver.
UPDATED: Steve Smith and Sam Baker were named to the CBS Sportsline All-American team. That means it's the first time USC's had two wide receivers become All-Americans.

way to go d j fight on

Doesn't mean squat to us fans.

Jarrett is overrated, most of us would rather have Steve Smith receive the majority of catches.

Reason being DJ has no hands.

See how many drops he has had? Stone hands, if I say so myself. Flashes of Todd Pinkston?

EVERYONE knows and agrees that DJ is NOT the receiver BMW was!

We all believe BMW was the greatest WR in SC history. At the very least, the best WR in the 21st century.

BMW will always rank ahead of DJ in our minds, even with this 2-time selection.

This award 'dots the i', meaning it solidifies and confirms the notion that DJ is bolting.

Now, LoJack, why would you leave? You will get schooled by old man Walter Jones of the Seahawks!

<3 blondes

Speak for yourself

Blondes, are you kidding me? Did you see that one-handed grab vs. Notre Dame? Head over to youtube and check out some of the old Trojans highlight videos with Williams and compare him to DJ. They look like the exact same player. Hopefully the only difference is Jarrett has the sense to stick around for all four years.

<3 blondes is insane. DJ is the real deal...not sure if you saw the one-handed catch last year vs Washington, or the catches he made against ND this year, or the concentration he had with the HUGE catch against ND on 4th and 9 last year, but those hands were golden, not stone.
FIGHT ON!!!

stone hands??? who have you been watching???

Way to go DJ, now just come back and make it 3 in a row

as for stone hands, you must be smoking some really bad stuff <3blondes

you might want to stay away from that dealer

How many organizations are official All-American selectors?

Mike Williams is one of the all-time biggest busts in the history of the NFL...poor work ethic. As good as Jarrett is (great hands), he would be wise to return for his senior year to work on some things. If he works very hard, he'll easily be a top 10 pick in '08.

Congratulations to DJ and I think he is a great receiver, but Steve Smith has to be the most under rated player in college football, the boy is MONEY!!!

DJ's situation is interesting. I think scouts have question marks on him for the NFL b/c he is not all that physical. While he'll make some plays, I think he'll get tossed around a bit by the better DB's, and one big hit when he goes up could knock him out.

I think his choice will come down to where he thinks he'll land high enough to get some big GUARANTEED $$ up front. If he comes back and has another big year (likely w/ a more mature tearm & QB) then scouts/teams will have a hard time passing on a 3x All American. Right now, I think there are a lot of unanswered questions on him for the next level.

congratz to DJ!! who's next Turner, Ausberry??

Last year, USC claimed Sam Baker made first team All-American even though he only made the CBS Sportsline.com first team, which is not an official All-American selector as recognized by the NCAA.

This comes on the heels of 2003, when Matt Leinart made College Football News.com first team All-American, which later enabled USC to (falsely) claim that Leinart was the school's second three team All-American, thus cheapening and diluting the accomplishment of the only Trojan to actually do it properly, Richard Wood.

Now, USC is at it again. After a season in which it did little or nothing to promote its players, it is now claiming that Sam Baker and Steve Smith are All-Americans after they made the CBS Sportsline.com squad as selected by Dennis Dodd.

Of course, this is utterly false. The only All-American teams recognized by the NCAA are AP, Football Coaches, Football Writers, Walter Camp and Sporting News. One reason: They are selected by panels and groups as opposed to by a single person, as the CBS team is.

More journalistic integrity being shown by you!

You know exactly what you are doing and you do it anyways! Does your editor look at this blog ever?

You're really a disgusting person!

By the way, since you have an insider in the ucla admin, what is your usc insider saying? Has he mentioned anything about athletes doing homework for each other (eg volleyball player that does not play but does homework for football player) and the blatant cheating on tests with athletes copying answers from each other in plane site of the professor.

That, is what my inside source has said. And, it involves very important players.

So, what are you going to do about it mister I have insiders over at UCLA!

ONE MORE YEAR JARRETT!
ONE MORE YEAR!
