Just A Thought

If Chauncey Washington actually had a torn MCL and not a sprained knee, wasn't that even more reason to get Allen Bradford ready for the UCLA game?

Or maybe that tells you something about Allen Bradford

Great investigative thinking Wolfie. You ever think about trying out for CSI: USC?

How about using your powers for good and talk about our recent commits O'Dowd and Griffen. KABOOOOOOM.

I should have gone to UCLA.

This is what happens when opponents are taken lightly.

Absolutely.

You know what Scott. You're right. Garrett should fire PC and get someone in here that knows what they are doing. What is the real point of this post? Can the coaches/players hop in a time machine to go back and replay the game?

To me, the uneducated blog poster, it seems that the coaches just never really knew where they stood with Chauncey's injury. The fact that Chauncey was only partially hurt (or so everyone thought) turned out to hurt USC the most in terms of game prep this year. When he was healthy the guy was clearly the best option and it seemed that the coaches (and not just Kiffin) thought that even when he was 80% he was still the best option. That might have been a miscalculation.

What happened in the UCLA game is still unclear. Coming into that game the word was that CW was ready to go but once the game started it seemed obvious that he was only running at 50%. I'm not sure if this was as a result of CW getting further hurt early in the game, or him hiding the seriousness of the injury. Either way I can't believe that CW ran the same way in the practices leading up to the game - without the coaches realizing that he wasn't ready to play. I have to think that CW looked solid in practice - PC decided that he was good to go - and less emphasis was placed on preparing a backup. I am sure PC learned from this and in the future would likely place less emphasis on practice time for potentially hurt players and more practice time for available ones.

Who's to say that AB makes a difference against UCLA even if he was given the chance? Can you really teach a S converted to FB the RB's game plan in a week?

no. allen bradford is a strong safety, not a running back.

Kiffin won't play someone unless their one of his favorites so Bradford just rode the pine and we went with a 40% Washington and Gable. Same reason our one potential playmaker, speedy Travon Patterson rides the pine. It's about time this coaching staff play the players best able to help win rather than favorites.

If Chauncey was hurt why was he running the ball in key 4th down situations?

Of course it does. Pete has to have his own way and is starting to pay the price.

Wow...all anyone has to do is look at these posts and you can see USC is a team in great disarray. All kinds of injuries, people playing favorites, stupid play calling, bickering, losing to 6-5 teams, injured guys playing..It's like the mansion came tumbling down in 1 year.

And to tag onto fUCLA's comments, the voice of USC football, Petros Papadakis, is off the air.

All of these things add up -- the program is doomed, my friends. DOOMED. Please remember Will Durant's immortal words: "A great football program is not conquered from without until it has destroyed itself from within."

And remember this, as well. I love you, Petros. Please come back to my radio.

May the Greek gods give you strength,
Nikos

Jesus, steve, control yourself. Just because Kiffin might be a crappy play caller doesn't mean he plays favorites. Chew on this for a minute - maybe the reason Patterson "rides the pine" is because there are at least 4 better receivers ahead of him on the depth chart...and they can make plays too! Remember that one-handed grab Jarrett made against Notre Dame? That was quite a play! Or how about Smith's 186-yard game against WSU? Those were 11 pretty good plays. How about when Jarrett and Smith were both injured and turner stepped up with an 11-catch game against Washington? Maybe the reason "our one potential playmaker" is on the bench is because he's a true freshman and has to bide his time behind the best receiving corps in all of college football.

I agree with Steve about playing the favorites rather than players that give you the best chance to win. Hence Booty over Sanchez.
Explain to me how a guy coming off of back surgery with just a few reps in spring practice gets the starting job over a QB who is taller, stronger, stays on his feet, can run, and was receiving all the snaps in spring practice when Booty went down thus developing a rhythm for several weeks with all his receivers? Is it because he such a great QB that at least 5 passes a game get blocked? Or is it because he sat on the bench for 3 years and received the sympathy of PC and company? All you geniuses and Booty sympathizers out there please explain that one to me!
